Snag tights - how are they supposed to fit?

Hello! So I've been eyeing Snag tights for a long time as most tights dig in at my waist (I do admit I have a somewhat sensitive waistline and can't do tight clothes around my waist like other women seem to be able to do), but I've had good luck here and there with some tights so I'm not a lost cause.

Anyway, I was seduced by the raving reviews both on MN and other platforms and ordered some tights over the weekend, which arrived today. And they dig in at the waist.

I'm 5.4" and usually a size 10, 12 for some jeans, but mostly an S/M, but I'm also pregnant so as recommended I ordered a size up and went for a D. Looking at the pictures of other women wearing a size D I got the impression those models were larger/taller than I, but that it should be fine given my future bump... well, I'm 18 weeks right now, I have a small bump that's mostly bloat and I doubt size D is going to fit me in a few weeks (even today I could not stand the pressure for longer than 15 minutes).

I emailed them with some fit questions and photos but so far haven't gotten a response, so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Did I get the wrong size?

Photo attached of me pre-pregnancy, but those jeans still fit me (expect for little bump) so you'll get an idea of my size.

You're entitled to think that there is nothing odd about portraying an adult woman like this. I am entitled to disagree.

I'm guessing that someone who dresses like that couldn't give a flying fuck what you think love. Its not to my particular taste either but I think you will find many companies have a care bear range aimed at adults besides Snag. Boohoo and Koi footwear for starters.

It's interesting that people who aggressively assert the right to let everyone do as they want are usually also keen aggressively to police other people's boundaries.

I didn't say that I thought anyone else should stop buying from Snag. I just said that I was uncomfortable with this styling. If you are so keen to let everyone make their own choices, why is not OK for me to make this choice? Or does 'live and let live' only apply people who agree with you?

As for the church elders crack, I don't like porn-influenced images of women, especially those that present women in an infantilised way (which is how I perceive the Snag photos - you are free to disagree). People have been accusing women who are uncomfortable with porn of being uptight prudes since the 1960s. You are free to think that of me. I will continue to think that the normalisation of porn is harmful to women and girls.

I raved about snag tights but I must admit I don't find them as comfy as I used to.
I still love and wear Snags but if they aren't up to scratch wear wise I sell them on. I find Better Tights really good and bought their Chub Rubs last summer when Snag fucked up by overselling theirs.

foxgoosefinch · 26/11/2021 13:35

I was also massively put off by the model “Ben”, a man wearing a bra and pants emblazoned with children’s anime patterns - plus Snag were advertising his OnlyFans page which was given in his website link.

I’m not keen on companies advertising either men’s fetish kinks, or platforms that host sex webcamming. Not for me thanks, sorry that some think that’s an “agenda”! I have a little girl and don’t really want her growing up in a world where OnlyFans is normalised, and men posing wearing underwear with children’s patterns on it is a marketing strategy.

Why do people always say this kind of thing? Who is telling you that you can't express your opinion? You ARE expressing it. People are disagreeing with you which is allowed.

@ThereWeAreThen79

The thing is Beastly my ds is not only gay but also trans and my dd is lesbian. I welcome their friends with crazy and colourfuI dress senses into my home. I don't think I've laid eyes on a conservatively dressed young adult in years. My kids are very aware of how certain styles have been hijacked over time. Their responses are to go bigger and better. My ds can't stand Bronies for instance.
Wow, that’s quite done patronising on the “crazy and colourful dress senses” of LGBT people there.

I’m a lesbian and don’t have a crazy and colourful dress sense. Guess I must be lesbianing wrong. Hmm

I don’t think my sexual orientation has anything to do with kink, men in anime underwear or sex camming sites tbh, so I’m quite happy to disapprove of all those things.

That''s disingenuous. It's not simply a discussion in which some posters are saying they don't like the photos, and others are saying they are fine.

Some posters are saying they don't like the photos, but are not criticising the posters who do.

The posters who are fine with the photos are, for some reason, finding the need to disparage those who aren't.

I find that interesting.

I didn't see that, but it's exactly the kind of thing I mean. Just seems like fetish-wear to me, and any fetish involving children in any way is obviously incredibly creepy. I get that some people might just enjoy the style and find it fun, and not care what I think - but when I see it I think "MAP"/fetishist/adult-care-bear/anime-furry type.

My apologies for offending you.

Westerman · 26/11/2021 13:49

I bought a size bigger than I thought I'd need and also suitable for 5ft 9" (I think) when I'm not quite 5ft 7" and they are great. Like you, I don't like tight things around my middle, and these come up to under my boobs! Very comfy, though, and definitely no sagging.

ThereWeAreThen79 · 26/11/2021 13:52

Westerman I find them very smoothing under dresses. I have a pair that can go over my shoulders Grin

I'm a lesbian who wears wacky and colorful clothing. Don't be a twat. Grin

This was “Ben” from the snag tights Facebook page. Not for me thanks!

That's it. I'm on your side now. I wasn't convinced but now I've seen big bad Ben cavorting and showing himself off... I heartily revoke your massive twat status.

beastlyslumber · 26/11/2021 14:17

That's a hearty "No thank you, Ben" from me, too!

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 26/11/2021 14:19

I don't have a problem with anyone, male or female, wearing any underwear of their choice.

I do have a problem with women being styled as children in a pornified way to sell products. If Snag are really aiming their range at men (not meaning to misgender Ben if he is trans, but I'm guessing he isn't from the name), that's fine, but don't dress up women in pornified ways to promote it. That's what makes me uncomfortable.

ThereWeAreThen79 · 26/11/2021 14:24

Ah there he is himself, lovely Ben. Or as we call him round here 'Oui s'il te plait grand Benjamin'.

foxgoosefinch · 26/11/2021 14:29

Yeah, I happen to think pornified images aren’t great for women and girls as a society-wide thing. But even without that, brands choose an image to market themselves; and then some people will not like that image. Snag tights clearly aren’t marketing themselves to appeal to me; that’s fine for others who like the image!

Their summer marketing was full of naked bums out on beaches in porny “lingerie” and I’m not massively keen on that aesthetic either.

I’m overweight myself so it isn’t like I don’t need tights that fit. It’s fine though, I know my place at M&S where no bums are on show 🤣

PeeAche · 26/11/2021 14:31

I love wearing Snag and I've been wearing them for a few years now.
I used to buy a larger size but I had to size down because I was like Nora Batty.
Neither my normal size nor the larger size ones that I have knocking around actually feel okay on my pregnant belly.

I think it's compounded by Snag having such a thick and always-stays-up waistband. Usually a god send, but currently agony.

I've given up on tights until baby is skin-side.

Pop them in a drawer. They'll probably be alright in the future.

You know what I have to say I agree with this. Thongs don't look that good on the best of people but usually they are covered by other items of clothing. No one wants to see my size 18 cottage cheese cheeks while trying to catch some rays Grin

PunchedTit4ASoul · 26/11/2021 14:40

OK now you're just making assumptions about what people do or don't want to see. 🤔😆

ThereWeAreThen79 · 26/11/2021 14:44

You haven't seen my backside. Definitely a fair assumption. Grin
I'm probably not the best person to be advocating on wearing anything. I'm not brave enough to wear a black shorts style swimsuit to my local leisure centre.

IARTNS · 27/11/2021 11:30

I'm a 14 5'6 and wear D in Snags. Find them very comfy.

Has anyone experience of Better tights?

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow

Blimey - have just seen the Care Bear range. I'm not sure I'd call it offensive, but it's certainly.....odd. I wonder who it's really aimed at?
I'm a 36 year old woman I bought the grumpy bear ones and wear them all the time Confused
MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 28/11/2021 19:43

It's not the Care Bear tights per se, @DrMartensHearts, it's the styling of the adult female models as little girls that I find creepy. Seems pornified.

JaceLancs · 28/11/2021 23:40

I’m confused by the Ben references
In my house Ben or Big Ben or even little Ben refers to cacti!
I’m a curvy (12-14) short arse what size of snag tights should I try?
In Falke I’m a Large
