Very chic/stylish women that you've seen out and about

I've just returned from holiday and there was a very chic woman staying in my hotel. She was French (of course! I thought she probably was before I even heard her speak). Average height, maybe 5ft 5ish, slim but not skinny, brown bobbed hair worn in a natural wave style, minimal make up. She wore very simple outfits such as black denim shorts with a white fitted tshirt but just looked so good all the time!

Has anyone else seen anyone who really stands out as looking stylish recently?

I was out with friends recently and we noticed a very chic group of women who looked to be early 40s/late 50s. It was a cold day at a coastal town and we were all wearing variations of jeans/trainers/jackets/woolly hats while the other women were wearing smart boots/short skirts with opaque tights or skinny jeans with smart jackets, artfully draped scarves, smart handbags and all had fabulous hair. They were perfect, smart casual ladies who lunch. It made us look a right scruffy crew.

It was only when we saw them again later in the day I realised none of them were cis women. I don't know if they were transwomen or cross dressers but they all looked amazing and they motivated me to smarten myself up a bit.

Wandering around Kings Rd Chelsea.
Lots of stylish women who gave off an air of wealth. Just something about them.

I work weekends in a naice supermarket in quite a posh area. Im on the till and the people watching is awesome! There are some fantastically stylish people. I saw a lady last week who was probably in her 50s. Perfect mix of stylish clothes, gorgeously natural wavy hair and light make up, cool jewellery. She looked brilliant. I complemented her and she said she always shops in H and M for good quality basics. Inspired me to shop there more tbh

There's a beautiful woman who lives near me who always attracts my attention. She must be in her late 70s at least, but she's tall, slim, very upright, very elegant, and she always wears purple - not in a Bon Marche kind of way, though! Whatever she's wearing, it's all beautifully coordinated, and she has the most gorgeous long expensive-looking wool coat in a fabulous shade of deep purple.

People aren’t really very stylish where I live, it’s a bit too muddy but I was thinking about a friend who died recently who just oozed elegance and style.
I’m not even sure it’s what she wore, more how she wore it and her personality. She was lovely.

There's an Oriental-Asian woman, roughly my age, she's roughly my height and has slim/petite build.

She is always dressed impeccably, with coordinating accessories, good posture, a straight, solid, collar length bob and minimal bags.

Simply dressed, with a white, grey, black or navy 'base' and bright accessories.

I look like a fat tramp beside her.

If I see her, I always see her around a shopping centre I go to near a train station.

Holiday in Nice a few years ago. There were lots of older very chic French women around with their little dogs, sitting in cafes having a glass of wine and smoking cigarettes!

My neighbour ... mid 40s, not exceptionally tall or slim maybe a 12 or 14, mousey hair with flecks of grey but naturally wavy and just below the shoulders, rarely wears makeup but has a slight olive tone to her skin. Good looking but I'd say striking rather than pretty. She is either in a thrown on, sort of hippy dress or jeans and tshirt if its the weekend, during the week its usually black wide legged trousers and a white or jewel coloured but plain blouse for work, subtle but interesting accessories (when you ask, there's always a story behind them as she's travelled a lot).

I give all that detail because honestly it doesn't seem to be like she does much effort but every single time I see her, I think she's looking stylish. Every single time.

I follow vogue Williams mother Sandra Wilson on Instagram she's very stylish

@Gingernaut 'I look like a fat tramp beside her.', that made me chuckle. There have been many of those times in my life too, whereby on arrival wherever, I look like the local tramp. I just try not to sit amongst the pigeons, they worsen the effect.

@Practicebeingpatient Cis? Just "not women" is sufficient.

Practicebeingpatient · 09/11/2021 19:59

In this context I thought cis was pertinent.

Yes I’ve started seeing the same woman on my way back from nursery drop off. She’s in her lates 50s/early 60s? (I’m terrible with ages). Quite petite and slim, long silvery grey hair in a ponytail, lovely make up and really fashionable clothes, all black and grey. Leather skirt with a metallic jumper, chunky sole black boots, a black puffa jacket etc.

I love clothes and make up but work from home so am usually wearing gym clothes and a Seasalt raincoat at the time Blush

SylviaTrench · 09/11/2021 20:17

A woman in her 60s, at a fuel station. She was striding back to her car with real purpose, head held high, amazing posture. She was wearing a red shift dress, and she wasn’t thin exactly but was incredibly toned.
I had a thought that it was probably how Princess Diana would have looked like now if she was still alive.

Gingernaut · 09/11/2021 21:04

@TeaAddict235 😁

I'm always passing by, with turned up jeans (always too long and I can't be arsed to shorten jeans), a t-shirt or casual top, layers like a cardigan and a linen waterfall coat and multiple bags, including my scruffy bag for life.

She leaves me feeling like a bag lady.

I know you mean well but as a natal woman, I really dislike the term "cis".
TheBullfinch · 09/11/2021 21:47

I saw a woman in my local garden centre who really stood out among the usual anorak and wellie wearing brigade (me).

She was about 32, with shoulder length baby blonde wavy hair. About 5 foot 8 and a size 12. Attractive, with natural make-up, self assured and Nordic looking. When she spoke in very good English, it was with an Eastern European accent.

She was wearing a black slouchy beany hat, a long oversized pale beige coloured wool wrap coat, a small black cross-body bag, black jumper and jeans and black nubuck biker boots.

She looked very casual and relaxed but so stylish too. Beautiful light beige, even toned skin.

She was laughing and smiling with a man and I remember thinking how lovely and happy she looked.

Yogawankonobi · 09/11/2021 23:16

It appears that a bob haircut is very chic

Jumpingintochristmas · 09/11/2021 23:59

I always think minimal make up, great hair, spotless clothing and good shoes/bag = tres chic.

Occasionally I feel chic then I leave the house, remember I am menopausal, overweight and prone to a hot flush Blush.

Perhaps I will shine in my 40/50’s!

TheLastLonelyBakedBean · 10/11/2021 00:31

Plenty on the school run, I come home and want to hide under a rock

Swishy hair, well fitting jeans, great ankle boots. One in the summer managed to look glamorous in cycling shorts, baggy T-shirt and trainers, with a pony tail. I'm in awe of that, how can you look that glam in gym clothes?

Ozanj · 10/11/2021 00:37

I think being well groomed is the key. All the women who look amazing in my experience have great hair, nails, and not a single facial hair out of place. They could he wearing Primark or Gucci, vastly different styles / sizes, but all look perfect.

Wiredforsound · 10/11/2021 05:40

I had a bob once as I love them on others, but it just looked like a helmet on me. That was the end of my foray into looking chic.

readingismycardio · 10/11/2021 05:53

Ohhh, I just remembered this lady called Irene. I was working in a bank in Scotland and she was a regular. She had impeccable white hair, amazing light make-up, and super stylish clothes. I loved her! When she heard I was leaving she came to say goodbye and brought flowers.
