Beauty Advent Calendars 2021 Thread 4 - One month to go! (Spoilers)

Hope nobody minds me starting the next thread but we'd hit 1000 posts!

F&M has arrived and something in it smells fantastic. I also got the note about the replacement product but I'm fairly sure that's the product that I'd seen advertised so it doesn't make any difference to me.

M&S is great value, as long as you'll use the stuff. I can always use an eyeliner so for me the two eyeliners more or less justified the £40 spend. Or that's how I justified it to myself anyway...

@OchonAgusOchonOh thanks for the warning (and the welcome!)... funnily enough I've already made a note to consider the Lumene calendar next year. My willpower comes in dribs and drabs. Sometimes it's absolutely amazing and I shock myself. Other times, well... we shall see...

Decaffe · 31/10/2021 09:59

I’ve got for the M&S one. I also always get the November QVC Elemis set which is always very good value. However I have decided this year that if they include the Apricot toner yet again that I won’t be buying it. I swear they only manufacture that stuff specifically so they can use it to bulk out gift sets. Feedback review often ask them to stop including it so let’s see if they actually listen this time round!

toffeeshock · 31/10/2021 10:00

@Ilikeviognier

Can anyone explain why people are bidding on calendars on eBay when they are still on sale? For higher prices too..I don’t get it!
I am desperate to get S&G as a gift for a birthday coming up. Can’t find a release date anywhere and Boots just tell me to check every two weeks Yet someone is ‘selling’ them on eBay for double the RRP and the last I looked they’d sold 10! When they haven’t even been released yet! So now I’m worried I won’t manage to get one because this person will have to bulk buy Hmm
Yogaandcocoa · 31/10/2021 10:02

@toffeeshock S&G advent calendar? Or the star gift they usually do early December?

toffeeshock · 31/10/2021 10:06

The advent calendar! On the Boots site for £42 (OOS) but they’re selling it for £80!

PomRuns · 31/10/2021 10:38

Just checked my fortnums calendar- agree it smells amazing. Bit disappointed with the swap - only because I already have a lot of this item.
Just remembered I also got a neom set - so I really shouldn’t buy anything else …

Ilikeviognier · 31/10/2021 10:57

Very weird re eBay! How are people getting hold of them then?

And who on Earth is buying from eBay when some are still on sale?🤔

Are they calendars that don't normally ship abroad? I suspect that they are likely to be international buyers.
toffeeshock · 31/10/2021 11:14

The S&G eBay ones had a delivery date of by 11 Dec the last time I looked! Confused So they clearly don’t have them yet!

MidnightMeltdown · 31/10/2021 11:18

I have noticed that eBay sellers often offer international shipping on things that shouldn't be shipped abroad, but they must get away with it somehow. Some of these calendars are really heavy so the postage costs must be ridiculous.

Ilikeviognier · 31/10/2021 11:27

I hadn’t considered the overseas option so yes that’s a thought.

Ilikeviognier · 31/10/2021 11:28

That said some of the postage costs offered are for less than £4 so I presume they aren’t expecting to ship it overseas!

MidnightMeltdown · 31/10/2021 11:44

@Ilikeviognier there's usually a separate postage price for overseas buyers, but if you're in the uk eBay will just show you the uk cost. However you can usually see which countries the seller ships to from the listing.

Peridot1 · 31/10/2021 13:06

Found you all. Thanks for new thread.

Yogaandcocoa · 31/10/2021 14:20

@toffeeshock I thought the S&G ones were in stock a while ago so maybe now are OOS but have seen on the website it will be back soon.

I suppose it has to be this month?! I will post on here if I see any updates

Thank you. No, I’ve been checking daily for months and Boots confirmed they haven’t had them in yet but that they don’t know when they’ll get them in. Can’t be too much longer! Unless they’re having real supply issues in which case I’ll need to find a plan b. There doesn’t seem to be an equivalent for an almost teen in other brands though. There’s TBS but that’s above budget and doesn’t seem as good value with the sizes.

QueefofSheena · 31/10/2021 15:10

@DrRamsesEmerson

Ooh, checking in! I have Rituals, Glossybox and H&B - decided against M&S after being seduced by Glossybox. (As an aside, I got their subscription box because it knocked £20 off the cost of the calendar, and it included a fabulous matte liquid lipstick but I now can't find who made it! It's too cool to have the brand name on the lipstick itself, and the colour was perfect on me.) I've also ordered Degustabox for the household, Haribo for DD and two L'Occitane ones as presents - the advent calendar industry is doing well out of me this year!
If you log into your Glossybox account the name of the lipstick will be there under ‘surveys’

I’ve had a November calendar for the last couple of years. I’ve got two but I’m trying to hold off until December this year so I can join in the threads. It’s not the same if you’ve already opened one. I might open one at night and one in the morning though.

Yogaandcocoa · 31/10/2021 15:19

@toffeeshock there was the multi brand one that was on sale for about £42 and had S&G in it (Macmillan?) but not sure whether that's in stock either

toffeeshock · 31/10/2021 16:24

Thank you, that one has a little too much make up, which she doesn’t wear. S&G has one mascara but that’s it I think.

itsallgoingpearshaped · 31/10/2021 16:31

S&G?

toffeeshock · 31/10/2021 16:38

Soap & Glory.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 31/10/2021 16:39

Thanks for the new thread
Still not decided on an advent yet!

@Decaffe re the November Elemis TSV on QVC my sources Grin tell me that there is an apricot toner in the set.
Plus a PC Marine Cream, cleansing balm, face oil, bath/shower cream, body lotion & hand cream. The body stuff you have the choice of Frangipani, Wild Lime & Ginger or Skin Nourishing.
If you look on Twitter there's a chap called QUncovered who must work there as he updates all deals etc as they're due plus pics ahead of time.

I like the Apricot toner but I'm drowning in cleansing balms at the moment!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 31/10/2021 16:43

@toffeeshock have you considered the Ted Baker advent?
My teen DD & her friends are dropping hints about it 😂

toffeeshock · 31/10/2021 16:48

Thanks for that, I haven’t, probably because there are a few more make-up items in there, but it looks lovely! Could be a back up idea.

DrRamsesEmerson · 31/10/2021 17:01

Thanks for the tip, @QueefofSheena - I found it, it's by Joséphine, and the colour is Tiphaine. Wore it out to dinner on Friday, once it's dried the colour doesn't budge.
