Hi! This gold face stuff today - is it supposed to smell slightly...bitter? Mine had a loose seal and smells a bit strange Confused

TokyoSushi · 11/12/2021 22:51

Argh! I'm going to have to call a slight halt to my 'use it on the day' routine. I've had a never before happened outbreak of eczema on my eyelids, it looks pretty unslighty and I'm guessing it might be from the Emma Hardie balm 😭 That's been my favourite too, I'll recommence, not on my eyes once this had cleared up. I knew it was too good to be true, still absolutely love the calendar though!

Niconacotaco · 11/12/2021 23:03

@TokyoSushi I had that problem with the Emma Hardie balm when we got it a few years ago. I love it on the rest of my face though.
I’m having a bad bout of eczema on my hands so am avoiding the hand cream for now just in case.
I have a possibly ridiculous question about the tabs on the boxes. What are they for? None of them are at the opening of the boxes. Am I being daft or are they pointless?

I was wondering the same thing and them realised they are to pull the box out of the tin.

TokyoSushi · 11/12/2021 23:08

Ah! Also wondering about the tabs! Thanks for confirming about the Emma Hardie, I love it, but will proceed with caution!

I was wondering this too! I thought they were maybe for hanging on the tree or something 🤣

OchonAgusOchonOh · 11/12/2021 23:25

I could be wrong but that's what I'm guessing.

As opposed to lifting them out of the tin (I was wondering the same thing)! 😂🤣😂🤣

OchonAgusOchonOh · 12/12/2021 00:08

As opposed to lifting them out of the tin (I was wondering the same thing)!

There were one or two well stuck in there that needed a bit of leverageGrin

Niconacotaco · 12/12/2021 00:21

Aaah my first box was quite wedged in the tin but after that they have been easy to remove. We will be in to the next layer soon so I will examine the boxes carefully and see if the tab helps.

ColaSoda · 12/12/2021 01:00

Went to my local store today and was amazed that they still have several beauty calendars left! Wonder if they’ll manage to sell them by Christmas.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/12/2021 07:25

Oooh, nice! I'm excited to give this a go!

HeySeamus · 12/12/2021 08:09

I'm really pleased with todays. I'm nearly out of night cream so this will be used next. I had Prai throat & décolletage in a previous AC and liked that. I'm looking forward to trying this.

Lowlifeinhighplaces · 12/12/2021 08:52

Ohhh, looks interesting, nice to hear so many like the Prai brand.

Up thread some one posted the nail varnish chipped, had mine on since Tuesday evening, first chip yesterday. After my previous buys of Nails inc which I did not like, this is wearing really well, both bottom and top coat were just cheap and cheerful Rimmel.

H1Drangea · 12/12/2021 08:57

Night cream, always useful
Haven’t opened mine yet , so can’t comment on the smell @parsleydog , I need to use up the Nivea first 😀

latedecember1963 · 12/12/2021 09:18

Sorry I didn't get round to posting yesterday. Saturday's Alpha H is worth £11.10 and today's Prai is worth £21.00, bringing the cumulative total to £125.93.

I've always been too scared to put acids on my face but I'm going to try the Alpha H on my legs which really suffer with dryness in winter.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 12/12/2021 09:24

Yay! I need a nightcream and this looks lovely!

@TokyoSushi I get eczema on my eyelids fairly frequently, although the Emma Hardie balm doesn't seem to have triggered it for me.
I like to use this balm from Exma Skincare as it's really gentle and doesn't sting at all. It's greasy so best used at night but it really does help when I get lizard eyes.
I've not had a flair up since I've been using the UpCircle eye cream from the H&B calendar. Not sure if it's coincidence or if the eye cream is really helping but I'll take it for now!

TokyoSushi · 12/12/2021 09:39

Thank you!! That's really helpful!

NumaNumaYay · 12/12/2021 09:55

Yes, all the ones I've used have smelled quite bitter/astringent!
latedecember1963 · 12/12/2021 09:57

Hope your eyelid flare up calms down soon, TokyoSushi. I've had it in the past and it's miserable.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 12/12/2021 11:06

I'm delighted with today's gift, I love this brand. We got the serum of this either in a calendar or beauty box and I really loved it. I always think the smell is beautiful, just sniffed this one and I think it's really lovely! Maybe I've got a weird sense of smell!

lockdownalli · 12/12/2021 11:28

I have used the Prai cream before. It's nice, but I would have preferred the décolletage cream which is absolutely fabulous.

Very happy overall.

Talisin · 12/12/2021 11:46

Not exciting for me today but it will get used.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 12/12/2021 12:31

A night cream is always useful. I like the smell and it's a decent size.

AnnieSnap · 12/12/2021 12:47

I have two night creams and a night mask open 😳 so using this one will have to wait a while. Going back to a previous item, I tried the elastisizer yesterday for the first time and I really like it. My hair is quite fine and unlike many other conditioners, this did not make my hair flop. Instead it feels stronger and smoother. I think I have found my hair’s new best friend and I wouldn’t have bought it without the opportunity to try a sample.
