Oh boy, it is still going!
I was the OP, under a different username of course (there have been a few), and I am delighted to see it is still thriving to some extent. I have popped in on and off since but had no idea it was still here.
I am no further forward in my quest to obtain such items.
As previously noted, I find so many contemporary natural textiles to be overly boxy, blunt and stiff. I long for smooth lines, fluid shapes and finer knits, but there hasn't really been much in that way of shopping since the 90's to be honest. I do use ebay and search used items, but apart from a few 2010+ oversized jumpers from Poetry....nothing.
My current favourites are my Toast pull on cords, a White Co droopy cardigan in a lovely petrol blue and some old, soft, good weight jeans from Mango. I did manage to get through the summer wearing Wrap vests and linen tops, and found a fantastic pair of wide leg linen trousers in a local charity shop with a non elastic mid waist waistband (so rare!).
My main issue with workwear and higher end trousers is the proliferation of chunky elasticated waistbands. They are not always comfortable. Some of these trousers are so high waisted that they reach my boobs, so a lot of lovely things are off limits for me, still. I don't want to look like my grandfather, even if he did remind me somewhat of the older Monty Don.
And as the new season is upon us, I am still short of at least one pair of decent trousers. I have 2 pairs in total for the colder months, and don't want to wear them out. I would love a loose fit style such as these, but with a non elastic waist (or even better - mid rise) in a fine wool.
