OMG! Boden Autumn Preview

AnnieSnap · 23/04/2021 19:34

I have just had a quick look at the Boden Autumn preview. I love a lot of their jumpsuits and dresses from this season and the previous one, but these up-coming styles are truly awful. Dowdy and drab. Is it just me?

It's all so samey- apart from the awful dresses.

I think if I see one more Breton top on their site I will scream.
Especially if it has glitter, or stars or any other crap.

Alpines · 24/04/2021 19:41

Even the kids clothes for summer were awful. This must be the first season since having kids I've bought nothing (10+ years!). They've jumped the shark

LuluJakey1 · 24/04/2021 19:43

The coats are hideous. £220 one at the end looks like something from a cheap market stall and as if it has been worn for a few years. I have given up with Boden the last couple of years. It is over-priced, poorly styled and has lost its way. `

notagainmummy · 24/04/2021 20:13

Even my granny wouldn't wear those. That green dress!

PresentingPercy · 24/04/2021 20:22

Someone on another thread is wearing a Boden ruched vest top and zebra leggings! Apparently not frumpy. Can I copy this stylish look?

Decent midi floral dresses otherwise - same old Boden. Over priced and poor design.

Fozzleyplum · 24/04/2021 21:50

I really can't get my head around the " Amish harvest festival" look which those dresses epitomise. Neither do I like the odd geometrically patterned shirt dresses (like the Cefinn ones worn by eg Sophie Rayworth). They look like 1980s tube train seat material. Have come to the conclusion that I won't be buying new clothes for the foreseeable.

Irishterrier · 24/04/2021 21:56

Also those rainbow jumpers... - after covid I never want to see another rainbow ever again!

LoveBeingAMum555 · 24/04/2021 22:04

I thought exactly the same!! I know that not everyone on MN is a fan of Boden but I have always liked their jersey dresses for work and I have a fairly plain sweatshirt that fits me really nicely.

I am a bit wary of their knitwear after a cardigan I bought from them didnt last as long as a similar Sainsbury's version, but everything else on that autumn preview would look hideous on me.

I dont mind a bit of a 70s vibe but a lot of it is awful beyond words.

@AnnieSnap

This is a available from August!
The wartime Granny look is back? Who'd have thought it 😂
Iceniii · 24/04/2021 22:13

Just need some flesh coloured wrinkled, baggy tights.

AnnieSnap · 24/04/2021 22:31

If anyone has their eye on any of these, no doubt you will get it for 60% off in the sale!

I am hugely out of date in thinking it all looks hugely dated...? Confused

OppsUpsSide · 24/04/2021 22:34

Actually not hugely, only about 10 years out of date, which surely means these styles can’t of come back around again?!

PresentingPercy · 25/04/2021 08:43

There is quite a movement regarding wearing granny clothes. Not new ones. Upcycled ones from your own uber smart granny. (In our family that would be utterly laughable as my mum has no fashion sense, and never has had, preferring jumble sale tat). However if you have a smart granny, nick her cashmere and liberty prints and off you go. Woke and saving the world. Just won’t make Boden any more billions.

PresentingPercy · 25/04/2021 08:47

A lot of the dresses, other than the knitted ones, are Laura Ashley styles from the 70s in winter fabrics. So hardly great design and far too much jersey which wasn’t a LA fabric of choice.

BotoxSelecta · 25/04/2021 08:58

I did actually buy two dresses from their S/S range (with a discount code!) as It’s hard to find simple, good quality dresses for tall women. I was hoping they might a few decent styles for autumn, but it seems not.

I did too. I think they have some very nice offerings in the Spring and Summer ranges (I know there are those MNs who would shoot me down in flames for this comment). I’m glad that one has long sleeves, since it appears there will be nothing for me in the Autumn range if these are the best that they are seeking to profile.

M&S (in my view) has some fairly decent midi dresses that certainly are ok for tall women. Cotton too. They are half the price of Boden.

mrwalkensir · 27/04/2021 23:39

it's also the colour palette - who looks good in those?

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 27/04/2021 23:52

I don't know if they base their look on Tatler-esque, microscopic posh women with no breasts, but I hate the fact that so many of their things are high necked and waisted. I have big tits, helped by gravity, a shortish waist and long legs... their things always make me look vast by concertina-ing my middle section.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 27/04/2021 23:56

Almost all of it is dreadful. The only thing I saw that I even remotely liked was a couple of the broderie blouses. Everything else looks like a boring school run mum kinda style who lost her way and doesn't know how to chose anything or something your nan would wear.

I mean WTF is this?? And for £150??

I think my gran has one of them.

Had. With a d. Stupid phone.

PresentingPercy · 28/04/2021 08:09

I imagine the pullover is a Pucci rip off. A very bad one! Presumably it’s cashmere. The colours are odd for autumn.
