Slightly overweight caterpillar (Princessing for those too old to be a princess...) ...

Karcheer · 12/04/2021 12:35

dreams of being a butterfly...

In my 20s and 30s I knew who I was (City girl) had regular treatments and looked pretty good even if I do say so myself.

Since I turned 40 (im 47 now) i've lost my identify, and to be honest I just don't bother anymore. The last year (lockdowns) have caused me to be even worse.
If i look at myself I don't even recognise who I am...

I'm 100% fed up with myself.

Is there a princess thread at the moment?

If not anyone else want to join me on a Caterpillar to Butterfly journey?

So far i've booked in highlights and a trim, pedicure, manicure, waxing, facial, massage - all spread over the next 6 weeks.
I've a PT session booked for Wednesday.
I'm trying to keep (falling a bit) to Exante.

I've ordered 3 bras in various sizes as i've no clue what size I am anymore.

I need to sort out clothes, make up etc

Who is in on our journey of self discovery (haha!) ?

Me, am 50, have had thread veins zapped and teeth descaled.
Have highlights booked in for 4 weeks time. Just done colour b4, so have grey roots with orange hair ready to try being blonde.

Need to exercise!

halfhope · 12/04/2021 13:54

Overweight caterpillar here. Not sure butterfly status possible but would be content with being more presentable caterpillar, with increased fitness levels. Just back in from walk. Cutting down food portions and increasing exercise. Re-evaluating wardrobe.

halfhope · 12/04/2021 13:55

Am 49 until next month.

Namechange2790 · 14/04/2021 11:51

Overweight caterpillar checking in! Put on too much weight over the last year and struggling to loose it. Relented and purchased the next size up in trousers for work but forgot H&M sizes are not generous and I can barely get these size 16s on 😭 so feel pretty shit about that’s.
On the plus, I’ve had a hair cut and am booked in for a bit of balayage in May, first time professionally dying my hair in 10years! Also have started doing my own gel nails so I’m feeling good about them. Just need to work on this body and style

Karcheer · 14/04/2021 15:20

I survived my PT session - but god was it hard.
Normal sessions open next week, so at least that'll force me to go 3 times a week!

Yep, 47 and frumpy.

I’m in NI so still no hairdressers and nail salons open. I’m so overweight hardly anything fits. Thanks to the beauty hoarder thread, I have started really trying to use products up so I have overhauled my skin routine in the last month.

halfhope · 14/04/2021 15:34

well done Karcheer! Hair appt for next Tuesday. Hospital appt this friday to get lip stitched as bit it during lockdown and it needs revision. Will look more human eventually.

Ouch that sounds painful :(

I also shaved my armpits (after PT) as I noticed I hadn't in a long time whilst I was raising my arms in the session :/

I have a purple lump Karcheer - there since last march. I do not feel super attractive at the moment but soldiering on. Good luck with PT - such a great start!

indecisivewoman81 · 14/04/2021 17:04

Am I join?

Overweight 40 year old who is in need of a decent hair cut and colour, eyebrows threaded and nails done.

Fed up of how I look. Just seen a photo of myself today on Facebook and was shocked at how chubby I looked 😞

cathyandclare · 14/04/2021 17:37

I'm in. Feeling fat, furry and unfit. Had my nails and hooves done today, so am focusing on the pretty shiny nails and ignoring the rest.

cathyandclare · 16/04/2021 12:14

How's everyone doing? I had my hair cut yesterday and have eaten a bit more healthily but quite a way to go! Want to lose 10lbs by the summer.

Karcheer · 16/04/2021 12:38

@cathyandclare my diet is tragic. We've workman at the house and I currently don't have a kitchen. Yesterday Lunch and Breakfast was 3 packets of crisps! I did have a healthy stir fry for dinner though.

Similar age to you OP and I have also put weight on over lockdown. I haven't had my hair done for 18 months and I have quite a lot of greys popping through. My hair is fair but not a nice blonde although the condition has improved due to not getting any high lights. I have also bought no new clothes since 2019 as my business has failed. So I have v little money and look rubbish. Am definitely up for improvement

MsAnnFrope · 16/04/2021 13:06

I'm in. 41 but feeling very caterpillary. Got a hair cut and colour booked for next week and wondering if i should have a variation on my usual theme of long layers, blonde highlights on auburn hair.

Trying to eat more fruit and veg, drink more water. No booze for a month.
Exercise 3 times a week.

I'm trying to put more good stuff into my life than trying to remove the "bad" i.e. sugar. That can be stage 2!

TipseyTorvey · 16/04/2021 13:22

I'd like to join in please. 48 this month (how did that happen!). A stone overweight due to lockdown. Greys starting to get a bit prominent. Eyebrows disappearing. Just started a new job virtually but terrified of having to actually go and meet all these people for real when I look this rubbish. I need to henna my hair (it's black so henna just reddens the grey nicely) , and am toying with microblading for eyebrows but scared of getting a sharpie look.

Karcheer · 16/04/2021 14:16

i've been thinking about starting my own business since the beginning of the last lock-down as my freelance work dried up - it was enough to stop me pushing myself to do what I really want to do!
Since then we've been renovating a house with terrible internet and it's been the perfect excuse for pretty much everything - not bothering to do make up, wear anything but jeans and a scruffy jumper, hair scraped back, not starting to think about my business.
I really feel like i've got no confidence and i'm definitely blaming it on what I look like, but I do wonder if it's age related... lack of knowing who I am (not wanting to admit i'm a middle aged old...)
But i'm very quickly running out of excuses... the builders are nearly finished, salons have re-opened, super fast broadband being installed next week etc.
Need to get this transformation going!

I've been forcing myself to spend 5 mins every morning putting on basic make up and some jewellery, a necklace and earrings as though I were actually going to an office. It makes me feel so much better and means I'm not quite as shocked when I catch sight of myself in the mirror. My challenge is snacking now. I really need to get back on the low carb, no sugar train. My thorax is now protruding past my bust. Not a good look.

LaBellina · 16/04/2021 15:29

Can I join ? I’m 35, really need to lose weight. At least 7 but preferably 9 kilos. I want to look again like I did before I got pregnant and want to wear the black dress in the picture (that was my perfect weight) with confidence again this summer! Also as a mum don’t spend enough time on grooming and need to find the time to spend more on my hair, nails and feet. Thanks for letting me join 🙂.

No idea why the picture was added twice Confused

Tiredteacherxxx · 16/04/2021 15:33

Oh, can I join in? I could have written the OP myself.

Have started SlimmingWorld today - 3 stone to lose... Really need to 'find myself' after two babies and just giving up on myself generally.

Good luck everyone!

cathyandclare · 16/04/2021 16:10

Welcome caterpillars! Looking gorgeous in that dress LaBellina. I'm trying to do something each day. Removed a frankly gross amount of dead skin with a Korean cloth today . It's all a bit pink and blotchy at the moment, but am expecting to glow like J lo tomorrow morning.

Campervan69 · 16/04/2021 17:20

I'm doing exactly this atm. Had covid in January and looked like a mad witch by the end of it. Neglected myself terribly and comfort ate a stone. Back to watching what I eat, morning body balance class, after work I have a bath and exfoliate and use a little Bear device that was recommended to tone up my face. Then slather on various serums that I bought over the years but never used. Also sat in the sun today with some fake tan I found in the cupboard so will build that up gradually as well.

Been watching 10 Years Younger, and taking my inspiration from that will wear makeup every day going forward as it makes me feel better.

cathyandclare · 17/04/2021 11:06

Sounds like you're doing well Campervan. I'm also working my way through my hoard of samples and unused skincare. I seem to have aged a decade in lockdown. Are you finding anything particularly good? I have also started using Rapidlash to try and restore my stumpy lashes. Done 3 weeks and no change yet,

TipseyTorvey · 17/04/2021 11:25

I managed to get around to doing those peeling foot socks last week so at least my feet look sandal ready now. I am going to force myself back into my slightly complex skincare routine because I look so much better when do. It's only 10 mins twice a day, I spend more time on mn than that!
