Slightly overweight caterpillar (Princessing for those too old to be a princess...) ...

Karcheer · 12/04/2021 12:35

dreams of being a butterfly...

In my 20s and 30s I knew who I was (City girl) had regular treatments and looked pretty good even if I do say so myself.

Since I turned 40 (im 47 now) i've lost my identify, and to be honest I just don't bother anymore. The last year (lockdowns) have caused me to be even worse.
If i look at myself I don't even recognise who I am...

I'm 100% fed up with myself.

Is there a princess thread at the moment?

If not anyone else want to join me on a Caterpillar to Butterfly journey?

So far i've booked in highlights and a trim, pedicure, manicure, waxing, facial, massage - all spread over the next 6 weeks.
I've a PT session booked for Wednesday.
I'm trying to keep (falling a bit) to Exante.

I've ordered 3 bras in various sizes as i've no clue what size I am anymore.

I need to sort out clothes, make up etc

Who is in on our journey of self discovery (haha!) ?

Hi all been really busy so just catching up now. I had my hair done on Wednesday I feel like me again! Even DH said welcome back when I came home 🤣 Not ready to do a beauticians visit yet that's all a bit too close for comfort at the moment but I am going to dig out my epilator over the weekend and so some deforestation

Karcheer · 07/05/2021 14:56

I've also started taking Collagen. Not sure what the effects are yet, but my nails do seem to be growing quicker and the beautician said they seemed in better condition.

Looking up to caterpillars right now. My modest goal is laundry and house cleaning... and returning the many clothes that I ordered and don't fit. We can do this!Smile

Pinklemons52 · 08/05/2021 12:47

@GreenClock

My hair, nails and makeup are good.

However, I’m overweight and my clothes are not fitting well, I look matronly and have lost my waist. I now get that thing where I expose an inch of flesh between waistband of jeans & hem of T-shirt, when seated. I can’t afford to buy loads of new clothes so I must lose a couple of stone. Disordered eating habits make this hard for me, and I think about grub all the bloody time.

I feel exactly the same - where has my waist gone? I need to loose a stone, 2 really. I have had my nails done and I do keep on top of my hair etc but my clothes are all too tight and I just can’t face Shopping for a whole size up. Am joining this thread for extra motivation.
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/05/2021 20:04

I put my Olaplex 3 in last night then rinsed it today (not washed my hair , I'll do that tomorrow)

There's some nice TShirts in Next that were recommended on another thread so I might get a couple when I'm out next
And need new bras .

Tonight I'll do some heavy duty cream on my heels then a pair of old socks .
Hair/feet . That'll do for today . Grin

ringboobs · 09/05/2021 20:56

Please can I join?

No weight to lose but am very flabby, crap diet / skin and posture and am (hopefully) getting married at the end of the year and want to look glowing and toned!

Haven't worn real clothes or make up for over a year and can't really remember how to look nice.

LuckyMcDucky · 10/05/2021 09:13

Yes, I think this is me! Caterpillar, too old to princess Grin

I'm not 40 yet, but I've had a lot on; losing my job, losing my wonderful mum, becoming a mum myself shortly after, then becoming an 'accidental' SAHM to two small children when I was made redundant, plus lockdown, homeschooling, moving to a new area where we know nobody and have no family help. All this within the space of a few years has honestly taken its toll and I'm not the person I was.

I'm 38 this year and have recently decided that I'm working towards looking and feeling and being my best by 40. We are lucky with DH salary, which has been helped along by me always being available for children when he can't be, plus I inherited some money from my mum. So I'm throwing some money at this and looking into personal training, nutritional advice, hair treatments and even looking at surgeons for mini tummy tuck and implants after I'm fit enough to assess how I look at my best sans surgery iyswim.

Anyway, starting a bit smaller today and washing my hair and going for a patch test for spray tan today for later this week. Also calling hair salons re kerastraight and maybe extensions, (nothing ott, just a few inches of length and some added volume to my fine, fluffy hair.

Also lip fillers and Botox Blush

I'm going all in lads Grin

Karcheer · 11/05/2021 20:45

I had my Nutrition session at the gym today.
I think they are starting fairly easy with me!
2L of water
Protein with my 3 main meals
1800 calories.

But! I looked a bl**dy state going to the gym. I'd spent the morning walking the dogs, vacuuming and gardening.

Is it even possible to look good with my life?

LuckyMcDucky · 11/05/2021 20:55

That's exciting op!

I've been for a pedicure today. Spray tan tomorrow. Feeling reasonably princessy today, as I've had to shave legs and exfoliate for spray tan - a bit Blush that this is an event, but hey ho!

Also have booked in to see a PT who I love the sound of, so fingers crossed.

Campervan69 · 11/05/2021 20:57

I'm carrying on with the foreo bear every evening which has definitely perked up my face. And trying to wear a smidge of makeup every day to perk me up mentally. Even if my only outing is the morning school run.

LuckyMcDucky · 13/05/2021 14:28

I am spray tanned and pedicured. Of course now it's raining and there is no chance of me getting my feet or newly bronzed limbs out! Oh well.

I've met 'the one' of personal trainers and am really happy with my choice. Starting training next week and really excited to start.

A bit like you @Karcheer, she said 1800ish calories. Track everything and make sure I'm getting enough protein.

I have an appointment for Botox and fillers consultation next week too.

Karcheer · 13/05/2021 18:23

Tomorrow I have a facial and a massage and I cannot wait! and before that the gym.
The facial/massage is at a really nice spa in a nice hotel - so i'm thinking i'm going to wear a nice tracksuit - that'll be ok do you think? with Veja trainers - which I bought and have never worn :/
Make and a blow dry - or not bother?

I'm absolutely exhausted though, I woke up at about 3:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep.

I'd started using CBD at the beginning of the week and could see a difference in the quality of my sleep from the FitBit app, but last night it couldnt compete against my husbands restless sleep.

Oh enjoy @Karcheer!

I used to work in a 5* hotel spa and anything goes really. I wouldn't wear make up due to the facial and think naice tracksuit makes sense for massage. Maybe nice hair, unless you're going in the spa after! I'm Envy. Hope you have a lovely time.

LuckyMcDucky · 15/05/2021 14:58

Diet's gone to pot today. I think it's the tracking. Might go back to my own method tbh, which was working as I'd lost half a stone. Started tracking on MFP and immediately fell off the wagon!

Hair appointment next week and also a Botox / fillers consultation, plus training sessions with PT.

Nothing else caterpillar ish to report except that I wore make up and dried my hair today. It's something I guess!

FleetwoodRaincoat · 15/05/2021 15:23

Thanks for pointing me in this direction @Campervan69. Lots to read here!

Campervan69 · 15/05/2021 16:42

Welcome 🙏

Karcheer · 16/05/2021 10:26

Morning Caterpillars!
The massage and facial was insane it was so nice to spoil myself. The spa was so nice, they started me off with a strawberry smoothy shot, followed by the treatment, then she gave me a little lemon sorbet! Then in the relaxation room she came in with a lovely herbal tea and a chocolate macaroon!
I had a good day yesterday wore a long green dress and these I wasn't sure about them when I bought them, but they were so comfy and I actually felt really good in the outfit.
Anyway back to cleaning and gardening today...

Oooh how lovely that sounds. I've been to the car boot sale this morning and bought a couple of lovely maxi dresses so am wafting around in one right now. Its sunny, the kids have friends round and I've just said I'll sign up for Slimming World with a friend this Wednesday. Hopefully that might give me some motivation to lose weight.

LuckyMcDucky · 16/05/2021 17:29

Ugh so Envy Karcheer! Your outfit sounds lovely too.

Not terribly princessy here and diet's been terrible all weekend. Back on it tomorrow with low(ish) carb. Think I'll have an early night tonight. Need to shave my legs for yoga class and PT. Twice in two weeks! My legs won't know what's hit them GrinBlush!

Im finding that doing exercise regularly and other beauty appointments is spurring me onto do more beauty stuff too. I shaved my armpits for PT... I was so happy i'd had my legs waxed before the massage etc :)

Feels like a plan is coming together...

I just need to be consistent!

Feel like i'm a little butterfly poking it's head out of the chrysalis every now and then!

1st Pilates class tonight for over a year (sprained my ankle badly last summer so was out of action when gyms were open) Soooo excited but I will ache tomorrow

LuckyMcDucky · 17/05/2021 14:27

Ah well done of the caterpillar-ing.

It's all gone a bit tits up here as I've got a horrible cold and have had to go for a covid test today. So some of my appointments this week are going to have to be cancelled, even if it comes back negative. Absolutely sucks. I thought I was a bit off colour over the weekend, which maybe explains the crap diet, as I was craving carby crap.

Oh well. It's a marathon not a sprint etc and hopefully I can rest and be well enough for the end of the week's hair and beauty appointments, assuming test comes back negative obviously! If it doesn't, well shit.

LuckyMcDucky · 17/05/2021 14:37

The dubious 'upside' is that I feel a bit too sick to eat.

Karcheer · 21/05/2021 15:29
