Lose a bit of weight - great excuse to buy some new clothes and get your hair done!

But also - go to some sort of keep fit class. Much more motivating than going it alone and thin flabby thighs are less attractive than toned plump ones!

Dinosaur · 01/11/2007 17:03

Hair. If roots/grey bits are showing through, and or it needs cutting and/or is all frizzy and not straightened, I hate myself.

Shannaratiger · 01/11/2007 17:09

personaly can't stand the gym.
brought myself a 'Lateral Thigh Trainer' (see advert on sky).
25ish minute workout = lost 1 trouser size in 3 months and found muscles i didn't know i had and have better stomach muscles than before i had the dc's- works every muscle in one workout.

puppydavies · 01/11/2007 17:17

decent haircut. cool shoes. exercise (for the buzz).

puppydavies · 01/11/2007 17:17

oh and wine

MrsBadger · 01/11/2007 17:19

Having read the thread title, the first thing that sprung to mind was sleep. Sorry.

But other than that, the thing that gets me down fastest is messy hair.

ellehcim · 01/11/2007 17:22

My diet is appalling and so can't help there but IMO hair is all important. I don't mind spending a bit on my hair since its the one thing people see every day.

Also my top make up tip for making me feel good is a bit of shimmer. Only a little, but I put it on the inside corner of my eyes, on my cheekbones and a dab in the centre of my lips. It makes me look and feel so much better even if I don't have much other make up on.

And white eyeliner on the inside rims of my eyes. A movie star trick. It really works especially in photos.

And crest whitestrips for teeth. Work in three weeks.

I'll stop now

ArcticRoll · 01/11/2007 17:24

Good hair-cut and colour.

Get a pedometer and do 10,000 steps a day (easier and cheaper than gym).

Good skincare-Mumsnet favourite Liz Earle stuff is great.

Lipgloss, mascara, condealer and blusher every day.

Decent shoes/boots.

bossykate · 01/11/2007 17:27

general good grooming. hair, nails, smooth legs and underarms. diet and exercise are all very well but in the interim there's always magic pants. also, exfoliate every day. i recommend dermalogica daily microfoliant in the shower in the morning and eve lom at night. if i only had to pick one of those, i'd go for the dermalogica. what is your budget? if you have some cash to spare, i'd go through the wardrobe and get rid of anything that doesn't make you feel good when you wear it. then i'd go for a few new things - new look if budget tight, or dp.

bossykate · 01/11/2007 17:28

ironed clothes, polished shoes.

bossykate · 01/11/2007 17:28

a little bit of subtle make up every day.

bossykate · 01/11/2007 17:28

a little bit of subtle make up every day.

policywonk · 01/11/2007 17:28

Yes I was going to say sleep too. And drinking loads of water.

Benefit High Beam (I think?) is a fairly subtle shimmer thingy - I usually fancy myself even more when I've got that on

HairyIrene · 01/11/2007 17:33

i second that sleep (harder than you think!!)
lots of water

i also started to do chi gung healing breathing excerises (had chest infection and felt lousy)
its only 20mins a day
but posture improves
and breathing lol
and generally well being..

it makes you feel better, in an inside out ..

for stomach ..its sit ups
i need to too
thats next..

policywonk · 01/11/2007 17:35

Oh yes, breathing. I've heard that's very beneficial.

Hairy, who are you normally if this is your Halloween name?

HairyIrene · 01/11/2007 17:36

HairyIrene · 01/11/2007 17:40

Marina · 01/11/2007 17:42

Well, lose a lot of weight in my case
But good perfume (I spend a bomb on Annick Goutal's Eau d'Hadrien and it always makes me feel chic even if I look like a badly tied parcel) helps as do some of our Boot Camp ideas

2l water a day
15,000 steps on the old Moron
Hand and foot cream morn and night
SMILE and Be Happy
Proven combo of...
Eve Lom cleanser, Boots Miracle Serum thing, Origins White Tea Moisturiser, occasionally a spot of Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

Aveda shampoo and conditioner and a good haircut too

Shoes and a foxy handbag

Whitestrips are a top tip. Not available in the shops here unless you buy direct from Crest but you can get them on ebay. About £24 for supreme (best ones). they are little plastic strips that you put on your teeth for 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins in the evening for three weeks and they whiten your teeth. You start seeing results after about 4 days.

I'd put on a link but i can't do that sort of stuff

policywonk · 01/11/2007 17:44

oh you were suzycreamcheese

I saw something in the grauniad recently about that famous rave in Alexandra Palace (?) in the sixties, they were saying scc was a sort of feminist performance artist? I'd wondered where the name came from.

I like evelyn the modified dog. But then I like HairyIrene

Never seen Kath and Kim, keep meaning to.

Anyway, this isn't buttering Pruners's parsnips...

paulaplumpbottom · 01/11/2007 17:45

Always take the stairs, always.
Drink your water
I also use a desert plate instaed of a dinner plate if I am at home

Blu · 01/11/2007 17:47

What is that miracle cream from Boots that was flying off the shelves? I keep meaning to get some, but am not sure what it is called...

And what is the benefit of this Lom stuff?

(novice at all this...but desparate now!)
