If you don’t wash your hair every day...

What do you put on your hair when you go in the shower?

I’ve stopped washing my hair every day and it is really benefiting from halving the amount of styling/heat on it. I want to continue this but I’m wrapping it in a little towel when I go in the shower.

What’s the alternative to a towel? Do people wear shower caps? Can you still buy them or is there a better alternative?

I just don't put my head or face in... I stand facing the shower. Never found it a problem to keep hair dry. Thought I suppose you can get shower caps?

dementedpixie · 25/10/2020 18:32

I just put it up in a clip and don't put my head under the water

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/10/2020 18:32

I just knot mine up on top of my head (I use those bobbles that are like phone cable). I face the shower flow so that keeps the hair out the way.

Littlepoppet1 · 25/10/2020 18:33

My hair is quite long so I just tip my head upside down and stick it in a big bun on top of my head! Does get ever so slightly damp but I always usually tie it up on the 2nd day anyway so doesn’t really matter. You can definitely still get shower caps though!

DefinitelyPossiblyMaybe · 25/10/2020 18:34

I tie my hair up and handhold the shower head.

dementedpixie · 25/10/2020 18:36

This is what I do with mine

Mine gets wet but I dont shampoo it. Its very short so no faff drying it anyway. It just dries by itself

Qwenzo · 25/10/2020 18:39

I definitely need to protect it from damp otherwise it goes frizzy. I could tie it up I suppose but I’d still have to do a bit of styling.
I mean, I could get a shower cap but it’s a bit old lady 🤣

Yes, tie hair up (wear a wide stretchy hairband around hairline for washing face) and use the handheld shower head. If I am away and the only shower head is fixed, I find it so annoying!

Offredismysister · 25/10/2020 18:40

I’ve got a shower cap. They’re only about £1 from wilko. I double cleanse my face so like to get my whole head under.

Plussizejumpsuit · 25/10/2020 18:41

I tie it up or clip it up and wear a shower cap with bear ears. I have a fringe and fine hair I Tey to wash my hair every other day but do often wash my fringe. So I use the shower cap the just get my fringe wet at the end of the shower.

chochaholic79 · 25/10/2020 18:43

I have a pretty shower cap like This;

Fizbosshoes · 25/10/2020 18:44

As pp have said I use a shower cap, or put it in a bun.
I'm not really into style anyway, but can deal with being an "old lady" in the shower (if wearing a shower cap makes you one!) Since I'm only wearing the shower cap while I'm in the shower so no one knows about it! My 14 year old has waist length hair and she puts it in a shower cap on days shes not washing it. It takes about 2 hours to wash and dry and she doesnt have time for that daily!

UntamedWisteria · 25/10/2020 18:47

What's wrong with a shower cap?

Qwenzo · 25/10/2020 18:49

I feel like it’s something my grandma would have worn! I’ll get a shower cap, thank you for the link!

fruitbrewhaha · 25/10/2020 18:50

We have shower caps! Not old lady at all. My DDs use them all the time in the shower and bath.

SuzieCarmichael · 25/10/2020 18:53

Nowt wrong with grandmas. Shower caps are practical and have been used for many generations. There’s nothing new under the sun. Your grandma wore sexy pants in her time too - did you know ?! 😂

Twilightstarbright · 25/10/2020 18:54

I wear a shower cap, I had a really good one by benefit, I think it came in a gift set.

JayeAshe · 25/10/2020 18:54

Bonnet de douche, Rodney !

Hot water bottles, toast racks, tea cosies and shower caps - all things your granny used because they're all good ideas Smile

TheOrigRights · 25/10/2020 18:57

I have a nice shower cap. I like to have the shower from above even if I'm not washing my hear. Mine was from John Lewis and is fabric on the outside.

TheOrigRights · 25/10/2020 18:58

And here it is!

A shower cap from TKMax.

I did used to use a clip but once I took it,out in the bath as I'd decided to walk my hair and I put it on the side of the bath. Only it wasn't a clip, it was a grasshopper.

I'm the same. Hate fixed shower heads a la Premier Inn etc 😬
ktp100 · 25/10/2020 19:02

I just tie mine up then put the shower at the lowest it can go so it's hitting me in the chest. I have a daily shower but wash my rather dry/not greasy hair once or twice a week. I never get it wet accidentally.
