your face but better

what are your favourite 'your face but better' products? as in, make up that isn't super noticeable, natural, and just enhances your features?

I like

 • clarins instant smooth perfecting touch - instantly makes my face look better, minimises pores, smooths skin, blurs
 • hourglass veil translucent setting powder - sets my (minimal) make up, minimises pores, blurs
 • ysl touche eclat (oldie but a goodie!) in inner corner of my eye, sometimes in cupids bow, around nose etc, sometimes under my eyes (tsk tsk)
 • dior nail glow - I use it with nail envy to just enhance my natural nails (on my fingers... not my face :D)

I'm still searching for my holy grail lip and eye natural looking enhancers :) would love to hear what you all like

Great thread OP.

I use a Clinique chubby stick lip colour in broadest Berry for a my lips but better look. I’ve got a lip liner that matches my lips and if I use that then dots of the lippy and smoosh lips together.

I have quite dark lips and nudes are horrendous on me, look like I’ve just been dug up.

Hourglass powder to give slight glow
Lancôme hypnose (not drama) in brown is my subtle day wear mascara.
Clinique sand dunes is a pale eyeshadow which just opens up my eyes a bit.
Chanel lip gloss for very subtle colour (but they have changed range so can’t tell which one now!)
Bobbi Brown sand wash pink is my exact lip colour but better!

Erborian CC cream. It’s fantastic! I got a 5ml sample in a beauty box and I have bought the full size as a result
@kevinn I’ve seen that recommended loads - do you use the tinted ones or just the normal one? Thanks!
Sorry for late response...I don't think they do a tinted one?? I use Cashew at the moment, I'm quite fair with pink undertones. There are loads of swatches online to help pick a shade. Smile

I've also just started to use my Hourglass powder again now my tan is fading.

Less is most definitely more with it though. You just need a very light sweep of it.

Which hourglass powder is everyone using?

I love my hourglass veil but I get the feeling everyone else likes ambient light?

Thank you! So many good things on this thread...

Not make up, but I would recommend Neal’s Yard rosehip oil. Started using it on my face and neck at the beginning of lockdown, massaging it into the skin every evening and my skin feels much softer and has a lovely dewy glow that I haven’t had for years (I’m in my 40s now). Saw several friends since lockdown eased and they all made comments about my skin/ said I looked well. It even gives me a dewy effect when I’m earring my regular foundation over the top

I use the Ambient Light powder in Dim Light.

Be warned; they are marketed as universally flattering for all shades. This is bullshit. You need to pick the right one for your skin tone. I had Ethereal previously and it was far too warm for me. Dim light (yellow-based) is much better suited to my tone and evens out my red patches.

Trinny BFF cream. Revelation. Wish I could afford to buy more!

165EatonPlace · 06/10/2020 23:23

Guerlain terracotta jolie teint.
Somewhere between a tinted moisturiser and a foundation. Love, love ,love it. Gives a hint of a tan. Not glittery. Nor shimmery but does give a slight glow.Have had lots of nice comments wearing this. People tell me I look well when I wear this.

Clinique dramatically different moisturising BB gel with active cartridge (I use the anti-ageing one) for days when I can’t be arsed to make any effort. Gives my skin a light sun kissed glow and looks plump and hydrated whilst not looking like you’ve made any effort. Evens everything out without looking ‘made up’. Definitely my best find for making me look less haggard on work video calls!
