your face but better

what are your favourite 'your face but better' products? as in, make up that isn't super noticeable, natural, and just enhances your features?

I like

  • clarins instant smooth perfecting touch - instantly makes my face look better, minimises pores, smooths skin, blurs
  • hourglass veil translucent setting powder - sets my (minimal) make up, minimises pores, blurs
  • ysl touche eclat (oldie but a goodie!) in inner corner of my eye, sometimes in cupids bow, around nose etc, sometimes under my eyes (tsk tsk)
  • dior nail glow - I use it with nail envy to just enhance my natural nails (on my fingers... not my face :D)

I'm still searching for my holy grail lip and eye natural looking enhancers :) would love to hear what you all like

Thanks OP this was just what I was looking for!
I’m sorry I have nothing to add, I am firmly in the ‘trying to learn’ zone Blush

Dior Lip Glow

I've just tried some Glossier products and the Boy Brow is very good for this. I don't think the Slick mascara has the staying power of other tubing mascaras I've tried but does look very natural, and the Cloud Paint gives a lovely natural glow - if you get the amount right, it's very easy to squeeze out way too much!

I don't bother with anything on my lips atm as they're usually covered with a mask, but I like Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Black Honey for a flattering tint of colour, and Burt's Bees lip balm in Red Dahlia which is very similar and considerably cheaper!

ooh thanks for the suggestions, I will be having a good look at these

Laura Geller Balance N Glow if you can find it. Burts bees lip shimmer. L'Oréal beauty tubes.

100% glossier perfecting skin tint and cloudpaint. The skin tint is so sheer you wonder how it makes any difference but it really does. It's the definitive 'your skin but better' product for me. I've only been using it for a few months but i am totally converted.

Nb 10% discount code on the promo board. 👍🏻

  • Nars Afterglow lip balm and lip gloss, I LOVE them. The gloss has oil in and so the texture is really moisturising rather than sticky and they give both give a nice subtle rosy tint.
  • Revolution XX concealer. I picked this up in Boots on a whim as I needed a new concealer and it was crowded, hot and my mask was annoying me so I just grabbed the first one I could see that looked to be my shade and I was so pleasantly surprised, it is amazing. I really, really like it. It's really good coverage but not cakey under my eyes.
  • Dior Nail Glow is so easy and low maintenance and yet makes me feel more put together.

I love this thread.

Just bought a travel size Clinique Almost Lipstick from ebay to give it a try first. It was £5.33

Clarins beauty flash balm and Becca under eye corrector

buddy79 · 24/09/2020 09:25

@kevinn I’ve seen that recommended loads - do you use the tinted ones or just the normal one? Thanks!

TeddyIsaHe · 24/09/2020 09:29

Bobbi Brown Oil-infused lipgloss in the nude shades is amazing for ‘your lips but better’. Super moisturising and very natural but far better than plain lips.

LadySeaThing · 24/09/2020 10:18

I tried Perricone MD "No make up" lipstick after it was recommended in a magazine (I know, I'm a total sucker) and it's lovely for this effect. The "original pink" really is like "my lips but better" (I'm fair skinned) and I also have the red which is a bright red but sheer, so looks more natural.

Darn it! Being stuck on short work has its downfalls.
I'm following for more tips!

Upherefordancing · 24/09/2020 10:25

Last year I came across a YouTube video where a Victoria's Secret model was showing how to apply liquid eyeliner.

I don't usually watch model videos but this was really useful - she was using Mac dark brown liquid liner and said it gives a much softer, more natural look than black. I've been using it ever since!

Upherefordancing · 24/09/2020 10:26

Great thread btw OP!

mynewusernameisthis · 24/09/2020 10:26

ooh thanks all, I need to work my way through all of these when I get the chance!

I've never tried anything by glossier so that's interesting. does boy brow draw on eyebrows or add colour to existing ones?

So many lip products too! Is clinique almost lipstick only available in black honey?

thanks for the ebay suggestion too, I would never have thought of that

@Upherefordancing aw thanks! Grin I like the idea of brown eyeliner. I had thought about clear gloss for my eyelashes but have never found one that actually does anything. I have very dark eyelashes - not black but very dark brown. I always feel too "done" with black mascara, so maybe a dark brown one is the way to go? if anyone can recommend one :)

Rimmel wonderful brow mascara.

breadcakebiscuits · 24/09/2020 10:32

Like PP I love Lipglow and Nailglow from Christian Dior.

The lipgloss isn’t sticky or shiny which makes all the difference - you just look healthy not “done up”.

Although Lancome Artliner liquid eyeliner and Definicils mascara are my only products at the moment.
