Hair cut on Wednesday... trim or short (er) Pics

Am 58. Feeling tired and old. My hair is doing me no favours. Most of the time it’s in a pony tail. Wash it, every other day. Thinking shorter but like to tie it back. Or... maybe a fringe? Some days I’m so knackered looking I just wish I could hide under a long fringe.

Just a trim, I think shorter will make you look older. Not sure if you’d be ok with that. You are really attractive and look fab, I don’t think it’s your hair that’s causing your mood.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 05/07/2020 15:58

Like these bobs... but realise I’m older than the models and not much of a fashion guru either. Spend a big part of my day in wellies and raincoat.

You look fab and your hair looks healthy. I'd just get a trim. Just being pampered and groomed might be the boost you need.

cameocat · 05/07/2020 15:58

I think you look gorgeous! And neither tired nor old.

I'm not very good at hair advice though so won't make any suggestions!

TheLadyAnneNeville · 05/07/2020 15:59

@Bluntness100

You’re probably right. Bloody shocking time for all of us.

Bobs need regular trims and straightening. Chin length can be ageing.
I'd just get a trim.

HermioneWeasley · 05/07/2020 16:41

Go for a good cut, that white/grey bob would look stunning

Patsypie · 05/07/2020 16:44

You're really attractive! You've got great bone structure so I'd skip the fringe but get layers around your face

LoveBeingAMum555 · 05/07/2020 16:45

Well you are 10 years older than me and I think you look great, I am sure I am not going to look like that at 58!

A fringe does soften your look, especially if you tie it back a lot. I think it could work for you but you need to be sure about it as they are damned hard to grow back out.

Maybe just have a trim this time and talk to your hairdresser about making a change. I got fed up with my hair 18 months ago and had drastic chop and then regretted it!

ForeverRedSkinhead · 05/07/2020 16:46

Go for the bob. I think it'll really suit you.

Be prepared to have to style your hair after washing though. Short hair always requires more attention to tame it.

Beatrixpotterspencil · 05/07/2020 17:14

I just don't get the bob thing.
you look very elegant, together with your hair as it already is.
I would definitely get a trim only, you look much younger and very chic, as silly as that sounds in a comment!
and of course, I don't say 'younger' because there's anything wrong with looking older.
its just a fact.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 05/07/2020 17:29

@Patsypie... hadn’t considered layers. Will have a look at that. There are days, because it’s all one length, that it pulls down my face down, iykwim. On a good day... that’s ok. On a bad day, I look knackered and cross which was why I was thinking “fringe”. @LoveBeingAMum555... hmmm, I’ve been there too! Had a pixie and regretted it the next morning when I looked like Beaker, off the Muppets 😂

Lovely hair OP. Keep it.

Suzie6789 · 05/07/2020 17:33

I think it looks fab as it it, if you don’t want a change how about a very light side fringe and some soft layers around your face?

FaceOfASpink · 05/07/2020 17:36

Keep the hair. It looks great.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 05/07/2020 18:33

Had a look at long layers. Thinking something like this, just to give it a bit of movement. I’ve fine hair but lots of it so, don’t want too much in the way of layers or it might lose its oomph.

These...

Mine’s about this length.

LoveBeingAMum555 · 05/07/2020 18:48

Agree that long layers are good and can give you movement but be careful about too many shorter layers and then not being able to tie it back properly (I speak from experience here).

And I chuckled at the idea of looking like a muppet after the pixie chop! After lockdown my hair looks like the kid off The Shining ...

HowzAboutThisThen · 05/07/2020 18:53

Long layers and a fringe would look great I reckon. 58? You sure dont look it!

TheLadyAnneNeville · 05/07/2020 18:53

@LoveBeingAMum555 😂 REDRUM

Kellen · 05/07/2020 18:56

You look absolutely amazing and your hair is lovely, thick and healthy - the scruffy ponytail suits you so much! What about a long blended split fringe? Or just a few inches off, v slightly shorter towards the back so it hangs nice and swishy above your shoulders? I would love to have hair like yours in 20 years time!

TheLadyAnneNeville · 05/07/2020 19:02

😊 @Kellen Will need to look that up!

mumhumdrum · 05/07/2020 19:07

Is this what's known as a stealth post?!

TheLadyAnneNeville · 05/07/2020 19:09

Found these under the split fringe heading. Might be a bit girlie for my age?

Of course, they’re on beautiful young movie stars!
