Hair cut on Wednesday... trim or short (er) Pics

Am 58. Feeling tired and old. My hair is doing me no favours. Most of the time it’s in a pony tail. Wash it, every other day. Thinking shorter but like to tie it back. Or... maybe a fringe? Some days I’m so knackered looking I just wish I could hide under a long fringe.

I’m 31 and I hope I look like you when I get to 58. I think you look beautiful and not at all tired and old.

Clumsyduck · 05/07/2020 19:14

Just a trim

Your a gorgeous btw

Kellen · 05/07/2020 19:21

Nah! It’s bobs that look better on the youngsters despite being beloved of the mature. I think you’d look fabulous!

Puppylucky · 05/07/2020 19:30

How many times do you need to post the same question? Yes you are beautiful. Yes you are ageing. We can't turn the clock back. Your hair looks good as it is and will probably look good in any of your choices but you still won't be any younger

CurlyhairedAssassin · 05/07/2020 19:40

You are gorgeous, what a shame you don't realise! You're having a laugh with "tired and old", surely?!

RiverMeadow · 05/07/2020 20:23

I would definitely just get a trim! A shorter Bob is so hard to maintain and I think you really suit your hair.

You look AMAZING for your age BTW!!

Bookishandblondish · 05/07/2020 20:49

Being a devils advocate, why not something like Robin Wright Penn in House of Cards - your bone structure could easily carry it off. Personally I don’t understand going to a hairdresser and paying money to do the trim of an inch that my mum used to do for free when I was ten.

LellyMcKelly · 05/07/2020 20:56

I thought those were photos of Glenn Close for a moment! You look stunning and the split fringe and long layers would look perfect with your hair.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 05/07/2020 20:58

@Puppylucky... my mum used to tell me “if you don’t have anything nice to say, keep your opinions to yourself”.

Why so nasty, love?

@CurlyhairedAssassin. Feeling tired and old definitely. Lost both my parents within 3 months of each other. A difficult time. Just need a boost, really.

I think no fringe but rather a long bob which goes up a bit around the back. Not sharp angled. I think it’ll look glam and swishy.

Verite1 · 05/07/2020 21:22

Goodness - you look amazing. Can’t believe you are 58 - you look great.

Thisbastardcomputer · 05/07/2020 21:28

You look great for 58, gone are the days when it was an old ladies age. Go for choppy bob and slanting fringe

chillimartini · 05/07/2020 21:30

Wow OP you are hot!!! I love the silver greys in your hair!!! If I look anywhere good as you at 58 I will be chuffed!!
I would just go for a trim. Your hair is beautiful.

GreenPages · 05/07/2020 21:47

You look like an older version of Sophie Raworth, the newsreader imo.

Unnecessary.

Some of us have uncertainty or issues about how we look/our hair/outfits. For various reasons. I do. Some vicious nasty bullying when I was younger, starting with a single outfit I wore - means I can still get very anxious about what to wear sometimes. Not all the time. Just sometimes.

And you know, sisterhood. Kindness. Wanting the support/opinions from others. Maybe because the people you used to ask are no longer around. Maybe for a bit of a boost.

Who fucking cares? Why do you care? Why post something unkind. Don't like the thread just move on.

OP - I like your hair as it is. But I get it - sometimes you get bored or want a "fix". I like the split fringe look and think that may look lovely.

LaureBerthaud · 06/07/2020 05:28

Why do you feel the need to qualify your statements? The OP is attractive - no need to say for your age. It's so condescending. Likewise those saying they can't believe she's 58 - this is what 58 looks like!!

Sorry to hear about your parents, OP. Agree that a soft fringe would look lovely. Don't go for a graduated bob.

Namaste6 · 06/07/2020 06:06

Hi OP, normally i would suggest a blunt bob (definitely not graduated) and I think you could certainly carry this, but keep it long. You have amazing bone structure - soft layers and long split fringe is the way I would go.

Sorry about your parents. 🙏

3rdNamechange · 06/07/2020 06:40

Have a look at Diane Keaton in Book Club , her hair's nice in that.

3rdNamechange · 06/07/2020 06:41

Let us know what you have done.

ThickFast · 06/07/2020 06:47

I’ve had a bob like that. Total pain in the arse. Needs straightening every day coz even the tiniest curve in your hair will make it sit funny. You don’t have the hair weight to hold it straight. And they need cutting really regularly to keep shape. And also you can’t tie them back but they’re still long enough to get in your eyes when it’s windy. Esp if you spend a lot of time outdoors. So it’s a much higher maintenance cut than it looks.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 06/07/2020 12:36

Thank you for the tips...

@ThickFast... hmmm, that’s what I was wondering. I cannot stand being out at work and my hair all over the show. That’s why it’s in a pony or under a cap, constantly 🙄

I’ve decent bone structure (thanks mum & dad) so, will keep it long for a while. My hairdresser suggested a blunt bob in Feb, before lockdown, as she suggested it can “strengthen” a sagging jawline. I told her I’d think about it. Obviously, this is the first visit since then. Be warned, I’ll be back on this subject p, at some point in the future. Having had short hair for most of my adult life, I still hanker from time to time to an “all off”.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 06/07/2020 12:38

And yes... love Diane Keaton’s hair. She ties it back a good deal, too. That style, just a “gentle” layer might be the way to go.

withlotsoflove · 06/07/2020 14:32

I think u should part your hair on the side. Then have a long layered fringe cut in.
Or, just cut it with the centre parting & add a curtain fringe. That’ll work well with your hair type. :)

damnthatanxiety · 06/07/2020 14:41

You are a very beautiful woman. Take a look at Jack Martin Colorist on Instagram. He specialises I'm getting away from harsh coloured hair. His silver hair is unbelievable. Cutwise I honestly think you could do pretty much anything you want as your facial structure is beautiful.
