WWW's ten year younger boot camp, Sept 2007

WideWebWitch · 24/09/2007 06:49

Hello! This is week three/four of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007 (as we carried on for 2 weeks on the last thread)

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Sept
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

It's POURING down outside as I write which makes me want to curl up in bed with hot crumpets, butter and a good book but onwards!

And as ever I've been rubbish but it's 2 weeks until ds's birthday so might attempt no wine until then in an effort to improve.

I haven't been eating that much though mainly due to business so not ideal.

Happy Monday everyone

I mean due to being busy not business, meant busy-ness

Awwwwwwwwww... new thread... new thread... I feel so excited... Which is sad, I know, but hey

Have been bad on almost all fronts but will not bother with my excuses as today is a shiny new thread and a new start and I am resolved.

I have gained a few pounds in weight and it has to go! I must strive to be happy too and feeling in control i.e. doing bootcamp helps.

Onwards and upwards everyone.
Happy Monday

Hideehi · 24/09/2007 07:30

Well I have been drinking loads (my birthday), smoking and living off hob nobs and bloody lost 6lb's.
It's never right.
You watch i'll be good all this week and weigh more by the end of it

WideWebWitch · 24/09/2007 07:31

It is never right hidehi, give us your secret!

Wb Winnie my love x

Hello early birds on the new thread!

I also got soaked this morning but have now got changed and will shortly have big mug of coffee. Sympathies to you batters, hope you dry out soon!

Exhausting weekend of children's birthday parties. Despite the temptations I did well on the food front although I did have some pavlova yesterday and half a glass of wine.

Too tired to run today, I might do half an hour on the rowing machine if I wake up a bit.

Sunscreen is not required today!

Marina · 24/09/2007 11:35

Morning all! Sorry you got so drenched batters and DoNB and about your poor tonsils www
On the plus side, I think I might adopt hidehi's alt.BootCamp approach this week , sounds a lot more fun than power-walking and budgie food, and then savaging a camembert at 5.30mp at home because you are so hungry
So good to see you posting again winnie XXX
Wishing you all a good and ever-diminishing week!
PS OK, I fess up to the camembert, but the water and flexitol are working their magic So I am fat but well hydrated

bagpuss · 24/09/2007 11:47

Hello, I have been absent from these threads for the last week or so as real life took over a little!

Last week was a bad bad week as dh had some days off work and encouraged me into unhealthy ways but he's safely back at work now and so I feel I can start afresh.

Hidehi, I like the sound of your diet and will give it a go if all else fails!

Batters, I hope you dry out soon, weather is miserable here too. I drove to school today .

I am remembering the moisturising and water though so it isn't all bad.

moonshine · 24/09/2007 16:56

Hello all. Good and bad week for me. Only drank Friday and Saturday last week, so v good (for me), but ate huge vats of food - v bad. Seem to be getting fatter on bootcamp so am really trying to buckle under this week. Didn't do feet, as promised myself, but am still well moisturised and exfoliated and drinking a fair bit of water.

Not sure where the fruit cake baking in the oven atm fits into all this (apart from my very big stomach)....

tortoiseSHELL · 24/09/2007 17:00

Hello, been bad I'm afraid. My goal is Christmas - I want to get some nice new clothes and look GLAM in December, as have about a million concerts to play for, and want to treat myself to lovely new black concert dress.

Www - how are you now? Were your blood tests ok? x

Simply · 24/09/2007 17:23

Thanks www for the thread. Just a short post from me. I do think of this boot camp often (about 10 times a day) and I'm still doing well on the same things as before (water, sunscreen, hand cream, eat heathily and be happy) and doing badly at the same things (foot cream is new for me so I'll add that to my to-do list), going to bed early, exercise, body cream and I like my small glass of wine a night too much to go without it. I'll try to really improve on my bedtime, exercise and the foot and body cream.

winnie · 24/09/2007 20:31

I have had one of the most goddamnawful days of my life... Have deleted the details because I am beginning to feel like the MN soap opera all by myself & I don't think you'd all believe it anyway on top of everything else

I don't know how I've got through the day and I thank god I have my mothers strength of character. So although that is not happiness - there has been none of that today - it is a blessing to count. I have a few to count today after all that has happened. I am also desperately hoping there will be a silver lining from today.

Somehow I have walked nearly 11,000 steps When? have hardly sat down all day. I've eaten

a pce of toast & marmite
a peanut butter sandwhich
a tea cake!
oh and some cherry tomatoes

mmm

Would love an enormous glass of whisky but there is no alcohol in the house so I am saved fromm myself and am retiring to a pampering bath in a bit with a book.

Batters, your drenching sounds horrid!

WWW, I thought rain made you want to walk NOT eat crumpets

Hidehi, we don't want to hear that 6lbs on biscuits

Duchess, well done on not eating childrens party food.

Marina, camembert wouldn't last in my fridge either. And you've reminded me I've had no water today

See you all tomorrow

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 24/09/2007 20:41

Winnie - I'm sorry you're having such a beastly time. Best wishes for that silver lining. But woman (even bootcamping ones) cannot live on sandwiches alone, can you microwave a baked potato & beans or something? You'll be all tired and iron-deficient if you don't!

Hope you enjoy your bath & book.

Hideehi · 24/09/2007 21:02

Ah not just biscuits, fags too

Sorry to hear about your day winnie, enjoy your soak hun

unknownrebelbang · 24/09/2007 21:54

Can I rejoin please?

I started my personal 14 weeks to Christmas = a stone campaign last week, and I've managed to lose a 1lb, but this thread usually helps keep me on track, when I remember.

so today:

Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Sept - oops. Will do better tomorrow.
No or little booze in the week - have had one glass as it's my wedding anniversary.
Walking - did 30 minutes on the exercise bike instead.
Water - plenty of water and very weak tea.-
Not so much body cream, but I do lavish cream on my hands.
I aim for an early night tonight.
Eat healthily - Not done too bad today, except for the phish food after supper. I've eaten plenty of fruit.
Be happy - oh yes, 19 years of marriage worth celebrating in the rebel household.

(hehe - got a stress dot from work today, and it's remained stable all day! Quite a novelty with my temperament.

bamamama · 25/09/2007 04:52

Morning all, thanks www for the new thread. All well on the bootcamp front, I am feeling a tad smug as I managed to get into a size 8 pair of jeans at the weekend (don't anyone tell me a size 8 in oz is a size 16 in the uk because I will cry). They are, I admit, a leetle bit uncomfortably tight so my new bootcamp aim is to be comfy in them by Christmas. We've somewhat embraced the outdoor life here - walking well over 10,000 steps a day and throwing in the odd 30 mile bike ride. I really don't want to sound that smug, I'm lucky not to be working at the moment and have some time to get healthy again.
Winnie - glad to see you back. do have a vent if you need to and I second DoNB in the matronly "eat something substantial" stern talking too department.

WideWebWitch · 25/09/2007 10:04

size eight? and Last time I was a size 8 was 1997

I love this thread
lol at camembert savaging
winnie, sorry to hear it's rubbish x

smugmumofboys · 25/09/2007 10:36

Hope you have a better day today winnie. All going well on bootcamp chez smug EXCEPT for healthy eating. I don't know if it's a change in the weather and my caveman instincts are kicking in, but I am really stuffing my face atm.

Anyway, I have found out that I have two weddings to go to next year. I am not going to be lardy in yet another set of photos, so there's my goal. My cousin is getting hitched in May (although with my mum's side of the family there, there's no way even I'll be the fattest person in the room!

Oh, and I'm getting two new kittens.

tortoiseSHELL · 25/09/2007 11:05

good luck with those www. Just had ds2's xrays back, and they were fine so am relieved!

Have put a couple of pics of dd on the profile thingy for a bit, from her first day of school!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/09/2007 11:55

hello rebel! Was it your 19th anniversary?
tshell - lovely pictures.
smug - happy about your kittens!
bama - How fab to get into such tiny size 8 jeans. I hope they give you cystitis.

I need a good pampering session, I have been hopeless at keeping up the flexitol and haven't applied body lotion for a few days either. Lots of fruit & veg and no alcohol. Water consumption has dropped a bit.

I ran a very slow mile this morning followed by lots of stretching. So now I feel all long-legged and high-bottomed. And smug.

bamamama · 25/09/2007 12:11

DoNB - I may well get cystitis (good thinking), will buy in extra cranberry...... (too too shallow to be soo pleased about too tight jeans at my age....
tshell - lovely pics!
smugmum - have you named the kittens yet? May I suggest 'flexitol' and 'omron' - 'lexi' and 'ron' for short
