WWW's ten year younger boot camp, Sept 2007

WideWebWitch · 24/09/2007 06:49

Hello! This is week three/four of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007 (as we carried on for 2 weeks on the last thread)

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Sept
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

It's POURING down outside as I write which makes me want to curl up in bed with hot crumpets, butter and a good book but onwards!

Evening all.

I have never been a size 8, I can't even contemplate what a size 8 must feel like. Is size 8 Aus the same as size 8 UK? I don't think that even if you removed all my skin, fat and muscle, that my skeleton alone would fit into size 8 jeans.

Anyway other than that:
at smug's kittens
at Marina's camembert
at hideehi's 6lb

Bootcamping going well. I've stopped the home from work binging, but my skin is wrecked from an over indulgent weekend celebrating DS1's 10th birthday.

I think I've realised that I am particularly good at sleeping and being happy - neither of which are going to result in the loss of a stone.

unknownrebelbang · 25/09/2007 21:35

Don't think I EVER got in a size 8!

Yes, Duchesse, it was our 19th.

Sunscreen - finally found my moisturiser so will use tomorrow.
No booze
Walking - did 30 minutes on the exercise bike instead.
Water - plenty of water and very weak tea.-
Not so much body cream, but I do lavish cream on my hands.
I aim for an early night tonight. (was earlier than usual last night).
Eat healthily - Not done too bad today, except for Green & Blacks DH bought me for a treat but I have limited quantity and shared .
I've eaten plenty of fruit.
Be happy - yes - informative meeting at DS1's school.

Marina · 25/09/2007 21:49

Hello all, highlight of my day has been collecting a stool sample from dd. I will say no more. Shell, that photo has been and gone, is it on your facebook missus?
Was off work again today nose to nose with my dd's anus, but did manage 12,000 steps and healthy eating on Monday plus lots of water and flexitol.
Batters - didn't realise dp was not currently in work again, so sorry. Dd and I got fairly sopping picking ds from footie club and tonight I've been packing his bag for his first ever school journey What will I do without my funny, sarcastic, loveable PFB for three days
I've never been a real 8 either (Wallis 8s don't count do they ) but I sure as hell was a 10 on my wedding day. DSIL is in all our wedding pictures in a tight shiny dress looking like an eau-de-nil haggis and I am so not looking like that in her wedding pics next summer, so like you, smugmum, I am on a mission.
Hands up who thinks that if bamamama wishes to remain on this thread she is given some kind of Affiliate status to reflect her inappropriate slenderness and LOVE the names Omron and Flexitol for kittens (actually they'd suit hens or even guinea pigs too )
Good luck with the test results www and thinking of you often at the mo winnie, as others have said, wish there was something we could do to help XXX

ok, ok really starting to regret mentioning the new jeans now..... if it's any consolation I've still got:
stupid hair
the hands of a north atlantic trawlerman
ridiculously pasty skin
a nose and teeth that only a channel 5 extreme makeover could begin to tackle....

And anyway can I quote our beloved leader - "This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)"

So don't make me be affiliated!!! I like it here....

Marina - hope your dd is on the mend and that no more stool samples are required. (LOVING the phrase eau-de-nil haggis btw)
Sobernow - congratulations on your size 12 skirt!
unknownrebelbang - how you managed to share green & blacks is beyond me - I am very selfish with chocolate
winnie - hope everything is ok.
Right have a nice wednesday everyone. Not long til the weekend

unknownrebelbang · 26/09/2007 08:41

I only shared with DH (he bought it) - even he says it's too god for the boys, lol.

rosmerta · 26/09/2007 13:27

Marina - lol at eau-de-nil haggis! Hope your dd is feeling better

Sobernow & bamamama - am feeling v of your new sizes. Yesterday I was celebrating being at the lower end of an 18 as opposed to the upper (and that was in Next as well!). Now my aim is to get into a 16, one size at a time will do for me!

unknownrebelbang - I wouldn't have even shared it with dh even if he did buy it! You're a much better person than I am!

winnie - hope everything is ok.

Right, ds is napping, I've had my (healthy) lunch and need to go do some studying.

Toodlepip for now!

The whole family has colds. The two smallest have been at home all week but I think DD1 may be home tomorrow too and DH is feeling dreadful (oh what a surprise )! Even so, I've clocked up over 11,000 steps today including a brisk 35min dog walk (I'm ill but don't get to lie around all day being feeble).

We had pizza & salad for dinner because I was too tired to cook. I've drunk lots of strong lime cordial instead of water today because I can taste it. And now I'm eating Walkers Sweet Chilli crisps and they are helping me to breathe through my nose. They're purely for medicinal purposes...

And I'm definitely having an early night.

uptomyeyes · 26/09/2007 22:02

DoNB - Karvol on a handkerchief tied to the head board just can't be beaten for unblocking noses. Sorry to hear you are all suffering. Garlic and chilli are good for sorting out bacterial infections of the ears/nose/throat but I'm not sure about chilli crisps - if it works, let me know and I'll try it .

Marina - I sympathise with your bottom watching task. DS2 has had rampant diaorrhea this evening and I've been up to my elbows in the stuff - sorting out the loo, the bathroom floor, his clothes, the bath, the bath again. Yeuch! Surely beyond the call of duty.

Bootcamped well today - until DH came home with a kebab. I had one bite...and then remembered why I don't like them.

unknownrebelbang · 26/09/2007 22:17

Sunscreen - tick
No booze - tick
Walking - did well over an hour on the exercise bike instead.
Water - not enough
Not so much body cream, but I do lavish cream on my hands.
Aiming to be in bed by midnight if not before.
Eat healthily - not eaten particulary well today.
Be happy - hmmm. Son being assaulted at school, and a noisy beaver group have left me with a headache.

legalalien · 26/09/2007 22:36

OK - deep breaths everyone - an Australian size 8 is ACTUALLY a UK size 6. I knew it was "the other way around" and just looked it up.

Frighteningly, once upon a time, in a gym-obsessed galaxy a long time ago, I fitted into an Australian size 6 pair of shorts. An event that will not be occurring any time soon, even if I do manage to comply with the bootcamp rules

bamamama · 26/09/2007 23:10

LA - BLOODY HELL!!! Oh you're really going to hate me now.......( inwardly in a really not showing off and actually quite embarrassed with bootcamp results)

Size 6!!!!

(Thud)

Uptomyeyes goes off to eat another mince pie.......

winnie · 27/09/2007 13:55

I am still bootcamping... just.
Sorry to hear about illnesses and unknownrebelbang I am to read about ds. I hope he is ok.

Batters, thanks for the email Will try to catch up properly later xx

Batters - Rebel1 is fine thanks. Girl who hit him got a luncthime detention and has apologised, acknowledging that she had got the wrong end of the stick. He expected a bit of backlash today from some others, but tbh it all seems to have blown over, thankfully.

Sunscreen - tick
No booze - tick
Walking - 30 mins on the exercise bike instead.
Water - tick
Not so much body cream, but I do lavish cream on my hands.
Early night tonight, I'm shattered.
Eat healthily - better than yesterday. Went to eat a chunk of cheese and actually changed my mind! Plenty of fruit.
Be happy - yes - school/work aside, no commitments/activities today.
