Alternative to Mulberry Anthony bag - help please!

Hello Fashionistas, my DH bought me a tan Mulberry Anthony bag for my 40th (many ahem) years ago, and I have used it practically everyday. It's a great size and takes a good old bashing - fits all my day to day crap in it yet still looks 'good' iyknim. But, it's now getting to the point where I really do need a new bag, but I don't want to fork out £3-400 for a bag, but I do still want one that has recognisable style. It must be cross body and it must be slouchy but sturdy and take a lot of stick. It must not have lots of bells and whistles - simple and stylish is the key. I don't mind natural, or colour such as burgundy, navy, dark green etc - nothing out too 'out there'. There seems to be a lot of 'structured' cross body bags on the market and I'm at a loss - have been searching for ages! Can anybody help? There are some brands I really don't like - such as Fossil or Radley - they are just not 'me'. Happy to go without a designer name tag and happy to spend up to £200 on something amazing. Can anyone help? I know you lovely ladies know your bags!!

I had the same predicament but my Anthony was a very good fake Turkish version!! I just bought the black Maria from Osprey, bigger and not as amazing as Anthony but I do love it.
Think I will save for a Mulberry though ...

I would recommend Fossil. Gorgeous leather, some quite similar in style to Mulberry but without the premium price tag. Lots of colours.

Not practical for your needs but Anya Hinmarch’s Postbox bag is stunning. I’m a crossbody bag girl and just bought this. Its so light and I’m in love with with it.

motherI had never heard of little handbag company, I am loving the convertible rucksac. I was looking at Bleu de Chauffe Cross body and I think the one you linked to is nicer and cheaper. If I get an A in the essay I am failing to write now I am going to reward myself with a little handbag rucksac.

Still not exactly cheap, but Mimi Berry has a sale on at the moment - the bags are beautiful and superb quality. I have several (mostly acquired on eBay or before the prices went up a few years back) and they last brilliantly. MB will also recondition them when they get too battered, though I've yet to use this service myself.

I have a Vanessa Bruno crossbody bag that I bought a couple of years ago. Use it constantly, goes with everything, is similar to the link below but a darker, more browny red suede. Great brand, would recommend.

Op did you get anything? I’ve just ordered the mulberry Leighton which I love but not sure I can justify!

I dithered over the Coach one until I read a review that the Peacock one wasn’t the warm colour it should be , and the the cross body strap isn’t extendable.

The Little Leather one is still calling me . Just need to sell my MBMJ Hillier bag , as I now have a ‘one in one out’ policy :)

@SpeckledyHen the strap on the Sutton hobo is quite long though & it has a shoulder strap too. It’s a beautiful bag. It tempts me every time I go on the website! I’ve tried it on & its a bit big for me though

I am hankering after the Leighton in mustard, its so nice but I'm on a no spend spree

I’ve gone for the deep amber. I’m also lusting after the keeley or mini keeley but think the Leighton will be nice as the strap is versatile as it can be shoulder or cross body. Hoping it arrives on Monday. I’m terrible for handbags. I’ve promised my hubby I’ll sell 3 if I keep the Leighton! I do have a one in one out policy as a rule as I like to make sure I use all my bags.

Oh sorry the small one which I think is actually still quite a decent size bag.
