I love these for winter as im always walking the pram and my face suffers.

They are usually on the high end price wise so I wondered if anyone had recommendations?

Ok,so despite the dey feeling last night my skin was ok this morning. I used the cream on its on and it makes a fantastic make up base. Definitely need some oil as well at night.

Either Marula from TO

Another brand which doesn’t get enough love is Fushi - their Argan oil is amazing

But the best I’ve found at great value and feels nice is the Orange Flower Facial Oil by Neals Yard. I used to use Decleors neroli oil and this one is so much better

The order you use it is oil first then serum then moisturiser.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse by far. I love facial oils and this is just fantastic. I use it on my hair too. And it smells incredible.

If you use oil before serum then (depending on the content of the serum) the serum won't penetrate. I can't remember the science- the lovely gurus on the skincare thread explained it. Oil is (I think the term) occlusive so stops anything going in after you apply it unless that too is an occlusive substance.
So, general rule of thumb is serum, then wait a while, then moisturiser, then oil- unless your moisturiser is a thick gloopy one like Nivea blue pot in which case oil would be better first.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/12/2019 13:14

I thought oil last as it locks everything in but will try it both ways and see what works.

TheCanterburyWhales · 01/12/2019 13:14

PS obviously, lots of "serums" are actually oil based- the Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate is marketed as a serum, but is in an oil base, so I use that last off. Dd had a pomegranate one in a beauty box that she gave me and that was also an oil despite being called serum, so I used that on top as well.

If any of your serums/moisturisers are heavy in silicones- and a lot will be, then best to wait a good half hour if not more or an oil or anything else on top will make the skin "pill"

I’ve tried a lot of oils but this from Dr Manuka is my favourite www.manukadoctor.co.uk/collections/skincare/products/replenishing-facial-oil

MardyGrass · 01/12/2019 15:40

Boots botanics one.
Tried Clarins and Espa
This is the best

MountainDweller · 01/12/2019 15:42

The Aurelia one is my favourite. £££ but a bottle lasts ages. I use it at night and leave to soak in for a while, then moisturiser on top.

Herbivore orchid is amazing

Herbivore has a trial set for less than £45 with 5 oils - would recommend
