Same here, Buttery :) Even better when all it'll cost is the p&p thanks to the credit from the surveys :)

Butterymuffin · 27/11/2019 22:02

@Cotton I'm saving my survey credits to go with the £10 credit we're getting at the weekend to use on the Look Fantastic site. Have my eye on a few skincare things in their shop!

I had intended to cancel my Glossybox after November - enjoyed the Winter Warmers box loads, but I knew I would have calendars to open in December - and then forgot to do it by the 14th. However, as it turns out, it's a good time to be a subscriber at the moment.

Tetraread · 27/11/2019 22:15

I haven't bought one this year, I have the past few, but none of them have really caught my eye this year. I liked the look of Elle, but missed the reduction and then it went back to full price and sold out! I was tempted by the Debenhams one, and also Charlotte Tilbury as it was 30% off and you got a free lipstick, eyeliner, and make up bag; but this year's sold out and I don't like the one from a few years ago. To be honest I have so many beauty products that I might make my own advent calendar, and make it my mission to use it all in Jan!

LEELULUMPKIN · 27/11/2019 22:22

I've never had any of the beauty box subscriptions but you lot are sorely tempting me now. You rotters!

I am more into skincare as the only make-up I use is a bit of powder, blush and mascara. V.low maintenance.

False eyelashes and nail varnish are totally not my bag, so would it be worth it me signing up to one?

If so, could the hive mind advise which of them would be best for me?

Trust me, I need all the help I can get!

Tetraread · 27/11/2019 22:40

@LEELULUMPKIN it's a great time of you year to try, as there's loads of offers on. Birchbox currently have this month's box plus a previous box for £5, and then £2.95 postage- so £7.95 for 2 boxes. It is really easy to cancel as well, you can do it online or they respond really quickly to emails. It's usually £12 a month I think, but could be worth a go. I used to get Glossybox but found that some months I wasn't using anything, but there are perks such as the advent calendar for a reduced price (next year now if they do it again). Plenty of discount codes about as well. If you have insta and search #glossybox you can see photos of past boxes; well, same for any really I guess. What kind of products do you like?

Costacoffeeplease · 27/11/2019 22:41

@Doubleraspberry I did exactly the same thing with my Liberty box from last year, and have given it to a friend here (I’m not in the uk and she’s from Eastern Europe)

I’m not sure she was familiar with the concept but once I explained she was really excited. I hope she enjoys opening all the drawers Smile

plightofthealbatross · 27/11/2019 23:41

I signed up for Birchbox a couple of nights ago just to try the deal as well ... £5 plus P&P for 2 boxes, whereas normally £10 plus P&P for 1 box. Figured it would be worth a punt for 2 boxes, including the Frozen box and lipstick guaranteed. Grin Can cancel anytime.

Tetraread · 28/11/2019 05:09

It's got to be done hasn't it Grin

ASOS is down to £56, do we think it's likely to go down anymore before selling out?

Sammi38 · 28/11/2019 06:41

I’d have probably said that’s it for ASOS, there may be an extra money off code floating about online somewhere or a deal through topcashback.

eatsleepmoverepeat · 28/11/2019 08:10

I stole a student discount code from DSD to buy ASOS (and I’ve already opened it and really liked it). The box it comes in is really good for future storage too.

whyamidoingthis · 28/11/2019 08:28

I'm tempted by the lookfantastic Christmas stocking for €38.80. The Illamasqua illuminator and the Phillips Kingsley elasticizer are calling me. It's 30% off. It claims to be worth €155 but if you look at the prices of the products on their site, most are reduced so worth less than that. Probably worth around €130.

I really don't need the mascara or the eye shadow though.

Tetraread · 28/11/2019 09:57

I have tried some discount codes with ASOS but as it's in the sale they don't work, boooo. I don't think I want it enough for that price, although I think it's been quite underrated this year; might keep an eye out over the next few days, although it will probably sell out. I am actually tempted by the NYX 24 day one (they do a 12 day one too), as I really rate their lip products and it's great value, but not sure I'll wear them enough to justify it. £30 at superdrug at the moment.

LEELULUMPKIN · 28/11/2019 10:19

Tetraread - Thanks so much for the advice. I am definitely wavering!

I have just looked on Topcashback for you and if you are a new customer to ASOS there is currently 15% cashback which would make it £47:60.

Existing customers get 6% = £52:64.

Why am I doing this - Topcashback are offering 12% + 9% on new and existing customers for Lookfantastic.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 28/11/2019 11:13

@Butterymuffin I was going to do that too but I figured I don't 'need' anything [specific] from the website as I've got multiple calendars to work through to test new products over the next few months whereas I'm intrigued by the Black Friday box and definitely would like that so might just let the extra £10 pass (unless there's anything that's relatively cheap on Sat that I wouldn't have to add much to?)

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 28/11/2019 11:16

@Tetraread is Birchbox much good usually? I was gifted a sub for glossybox which runs till this coming March.

I did sign up for this most recent Birchbox purely because Simply Be had a perk for a v cheap box and I thought I'd give it ago. Having said that I found the entire contents of the Birchbox utterly useless for me and I'm giving it all away to my cousin tomorrow when I see her.

Will stick it out for the Christmas box (I'm a sucker for Christmas) but I think I'll cancel straight after if it's anything like the Nov one.

Housewife2010 · 28/11/2019 11:45

Has anyone received their LIB Black Friday orders yet? I ordered mine late on Sunday night and I'm impatiently waiting.

LEELULUMPKIN · 28/11/2019 12:54

Whoo! Hoo! Dh's "surprise" Mankind calendar has FINALLY arrived & I am way beyond chuffed with it!

I ordered it totally blind, not seeing any spoilers anywhere and I can honestly say that he will use every single product.

It's a really heavy big box, way heavier than my Liberty.

Can't wait for him to get home now :)

SouthWestmom · 28/11/2019 15:09

Excitingly my mother has turned up with a hand made beauty advent calendar. I cannot wait to see what she has added - she is a champion shopper and loves a bit of glam. She couldn't get the Clarins one (dh managed!) so lucky me.

Beauty Advent Calendars 2019 - the sequel!
traveladdictsarah · 28/11/2019 15:11

Grazia calendar back in stock in case anyone's interested.

LEELULUMPKIN · 28/11/2019 15:27

Wow Noeuf! That looks fab, lucky you! Are those boxes from a previous calendar, if so, which one?

whyamidoingthis · 28/11/2019 15:30

Are those boxes from a previous calendar, if so, which one?

Is there a prize for knowing which calendars they're from (or am I just sad Grin).

SouthWestmom · 28/11/2019 15:37

Oooh i don't know. Maybe m and s?

I'm excited though, apparently the Clarins lady suggested she made her own...mum lives makeup and skincare so hoping for some interesting bits!

whyamidoingthis · 28/11/2019 15:55

Maybe m and s

The smaller red ones are M&S from 3 years ago. I don't know about the boxes with holly.

In my defence, that was the first advent calendar I ever had (even as a child, it wasn't a thing) and I was super excited. And the little triangular one gave it away to me.

friendlyflicka · 28/11/2019 15:59

Does anyone else think that all beauty calendars should accept that people have Nars orgasm and laguna and a black mascara and might not want red lipstick? I know this makes it even more difficult to cater for a mass of people, but ...

SouthWestmom · 28/11/2019 16:05

Yes some stuff is quite niche! We always swap though - good to have three generations doing it.

Amazon for the other boxes? She also made some....
