I was planning on taking a trip out to my nearest TK Maxx, I need some new clothes and skincare items. Are the deals actually that good? What are your best TK Maxx finds ?

It really is a mix of tat and bargains. You really have to have time in your hands to sift through their rails.
I bought my dd a pair of pink Steve Madden boots for dd for £19.99, they sell for £50 something. Hold on I’ll get the link.

Pancakeflipper · 29/10/2019 19:19

Jumpers... I love the jumper section. But so dependent on deliveries to the store.
Socks are good and I've struck lucky with some great winter tights at times

I am a little dubious about the beauty products as I've sniffed a few and thought they smelt "old". Though bought hair products as always looking for my holy grail hair products.

PearlyPinkNails · 29/10/2019 19:21

I got my Stan smiths from there last month for £25.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 29/10/2019 19:21

More tat than bargains. And lots of hunting to find anything that's worthwhile.

Everything needs a good dust too.

Savingforarainyday · 29/10/2019 19:23

Our town is more " low market" than the next town over. They always have better stuff in theirs than we do in oursHalloween Angry

There was a panorama type program on tk maxx a couple of years ago which basically proved that it really isn't a good deal. Most of the designer items are made for tk maxx to sell - they are never intended to be sold through the designer's normal retail channels, the quality of materials is lower, and the RRP is a kind of 'what this would be sold at on our proper stores if it was a standard item', not what that item was made to be sold at. All a bit of a con really.

inwood · 29/10/2019 19:32

Depends if you want to spend hours hunting in the rails. There's bargains to be had, most of my bags are tk maxx but I just can't face the clothes.

EssentialHummus · 29/10/2019 19:36

I like that if you’re after, say, a jumper, you have dozens all together arranged by size from different brands. But there’s a lot of dross. I have seen some bargains but very rarely.

EvilEdna1 · 29/10/2019 19:46

I got a DKNY parka in there for £90 last week and saw it in House of Fraser yesterday for £125 in the sale, reduced from.£180.

loveisanopensore · 29/10/2019 19:47

It's a matter of luck. I got stuff from Milk and Clarins in their cosmetics section the other week.
Sometimes get decent children's shoes too.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 29/10/2019 19:49

I never look at the clothes. I go to the smellies, the food aisle (all sorts of random crap you can't get elsewhere), homewares and the notebooks. Their greetings cards and wrap are excellent

misspiggy19 · 29/10/2019 19:50

Absolute tat now. Barely any big name brands. Wouldn’t bother.

Yoollyball · 29/10/2019 19:50

Their website is good. I go for known good quality brands.

Greyworm · 29/10/2019 19:53

It's good for candles and bed sheets! Lots of items are tk maxx own brand. I think amphora. I also heard somewhere that they sometimes just make up the RRP. I still like it though. Sometimes they have all saints!

Eminybob · 29/10/2019 19:54

I bought a really nice warm winter coat recently. I hadn’t heard of the brand but googled and it seems it an American brand and the coat retails over there for more than twice what I paid for it. But that wasn’t the point for me, it’s a good quality coat at a price I was happy to pay.

I have never ever found a bargain on a designer brand in there. That’s not to say there aren’t any, just not anything that I’ve wanted to buy.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 29/10/2019 19:55

They sell Ie crueset stuff cheaper

LittleSwede · 29/10/2019 19:56

I've managed to get some fantastic outdoor wear and coats for DD, all known Scandi brands like Didrikson at less than half price. Also got some gym gear from Björn Borg and a couple of Lily and Me tops. They do have a few I'd their own brands which might be of less quality but I tend to get ones I know (I sometimes double check prices with Amazon/other retailers before purchasing).

I mostly buy online though as can't browse in shop with DD.

Moominfan · 29/10/2019 19:57

I like their website for make up

cees · 29/10/2019 19:57

I saw the same programme YOUROPINIONISNOTED, didn't they mention over 150 labels are actually made in the same factory, just different brand names stuck on to look as though they have a wide selection of retailers on board.
I bought a French connection dress there, it was lovely at first but looked shabby very quickly. Definitely not the same quality fabrics used as buying from a French connection outlet.
I also got a beautiful jacket, after 6 weeks wear, it started to fray on the back. Returned it and spotted it on the clearance rack a few days later. It was definitely my jacket as the fray was on the back. I wore it for 6 weeks and I doubt they washed it before putting it back on the floor. Grim

FinnBalorsAbs · 29/10/2019 19:59

Not technically style or beauty I guess, but I got a Manduka yoga mat. Usual price is £75 and I got it for £19.99. I'd never have spent more than £20 on a mat but every time I unfurl it it makes me happy how lovely it is!

cees · 29/10/2019 19:59

I do still have a look around, I'm just more careful in what I purchase and never get rid of the receipt.

Aderyn19 · 29/10/2019 19:59

I think the house stuff is good. Bought saucepans and lovely cutlery and a set of knives in a block in the last couple of weeks. They are also great for decorations, vases etc.
DH bought Timberland boots in there. I also got some nice Calvin Klein bangles. I think women's clothes and jewellery can be very hit and miss and I don't rate the bags.

bigdecsions · 29/10/2019 19:59

I went in there today after a long time. I got a trench connection coat for £40 and dh picked up
A leather jackets for £21 😮there were so many good priced coats

Hecateh · 29/10/2019 20:00

Crap in the 2 local to me. When I went with my sister in Cheltenham there was some fab stuff. She moved a few years ago though so never go now

CherryPavlova · 29/10/2019 20:00

Horrid place. Feels like a jumble sale so I avoid.
