Hi. Please help. Looking for a wedding outfit for my mother. Does this look ok?

Thanks

Honestly, it looks like cheap looking material.
You could do better than that for £150.
Try sales at monsoon?

TigerDroveAgain · 13/10/2019 00:03

How tall, what seasons, what age?

Personally not keen but I’m more MOTD than MOTB

LimpidPools · 13/10/2019 00:04

Is your mother very old?

Hoolihan · 13/10/2019 00:05

It's very old fashioned. Do MOTBs really have to wear this kind of thing these days? Couldn't she just get a nice dress from John Lewis?

TigerDroveAgain · 13/10/2019 00:05

LimpidPools

I was being polite Wink

Pinkyyy · 13/10/2019 00:06

I think we need a little bit more detail on the woman in question OP. Size, height, age etc?

QuaterMiss · 13/10/2019 00:11

It’s a very boring cliché of an outfit. Could your mother not choose something more individual?

If you could give some idea of her clothes size, preferences and the style/venue of the wedding I’m sure people could suggest other things.

What season is it for?

LookingForward2020 · 13/10/2019 00:13

Limpid! You made me laugh!

She is 60. Size 18/20. About 1.7 tall. Would prefer midi length skirt/dress. I am clueless (and not stylish at all) as you can tell.

Thank you for all your comments so far.

I think it is nice.
Does depend a bit on other colours that will be in the picture - am wondering if a pale grey might 'fade into' the pictures a bit ??

LookingForward2020 · 13/10/2019 00:14

Summer wedding. Very hot. Nothing sleeveless unless it has jacket/ cover up etc.

LookingForward2020 · 13/10/2019 00:15

Wedding is formal and will be at a fancy hotel. She doesn’t have much individual style really.

60!

Blimmin’ ‘eck! I would literally lie down and die if someone attempted to put me in that in a few years time.

Why are you looking for her?

LookingForward2020 · 13/10/2019 00:25

I am expected to look for her for some reason- like so many other things I am expected to do for her. That’s another thread or 2.

Any suggestions on outfits greatly appreciated. Thanks again

I actually really like it!

Jellybean100 · 13/10/2019 00:46

I think its lovely! I’ve been to some weddings where it seems the MOTB has tried her very best to find the most out-there type of dress she could find to try and stand out.

Aquamarine1029 · 13/10/2019 01:00

That dress would not suit someone sized 18/20.

TigerDroveAgain · 13/10/2019 01:22

That dress would not suit anyone!

TigerDroveAgain · 13/10/2019 01:25

I’m roughly your mother’s age and size. I’d go for something like this www.johnlewis.com/lauren-ralph-lauren-zada-floral-print-midi-dress-polo-black/p4281422

puppyconfetti · 13/10/2019 01:26

It's a bit drab

Monty27 · 13/10/2019 01:30

OP I like your choice but not grey.
Floral.... Noóo
I'm nearly your mum's age
Tbf I'm a 10 sadly.
Floral no no no

TARSCOUT · 13/10/2019 01:44

I like it !

northerngirl2012 · 13/10/2019 01:54

What about Boden?

Time40 · 13/10/2019 03:37

I have old-fashioned taste and I usually think "well, I like it, and who cares anyway?" when people say something is dated ... but that outfit is really, really dated and boring. It looks like the sort of thing someone over 80 would choose.
