GlamGiraffe, I would rather not say. But thank you for taking the time to respond.

I think I will get that ASOS dress or something very similar. Once it’s delivered I will get cracking with finding a matching hat.

For those who asked, yes, there is lots of politics and weird family dynamics. It’s my older sister who is getting married. I am saving her a lot of hassle from my mother by doing this. Like I said, that is worth it’s own thread or 10 😀

Thank you all for your input. Much appreciated. I was getting rather stressed with it all.

While you're looking some other options. I think the Carole Middleton style is hard to pull off in larger sizes, it's very fitted and sleek

www.johnlewis.com/chesca-misty-rose-dress-grey-nude/p2907383?size=20-22
That comes in different colours, prints and plain and has good reviews, it would be easy to dress up.

Have a look through the brand page
www.johnlewis.com/search/brand/chesca/show-in-stock-items-only/_/N-1z007miZ1z0wxdt?search-term=Chesca&sortBy=popularity
They do dresses, separates and quite a lot of cover up options for arms.

I know you say you are saving your sister a job, but I think you're asking for trouble trying to find a dress for someone who may be 18 maybe 20. Are you planning on sending it to her first ?

I like the Asos dress though

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 13/10/2019 14:17

Ghost also have www.johnlewis.com/ghost-madison-satin-dress-lilac/p4121305 and a style called Mindy, but that has a high round neck, which probably wouldn't suit.

SubisYodrethwhenLarping · 13/10/2019 16:12

If she has large chest V neck would be most flattering IMHO & IME

peridito · 13/10/2019 17:20

@Rickytickytembo do you know what make or where those clothes are from ?

Sorry to hi jack OP and glad some of the dresses have hit the spot .Good luck with it all !

some of the annalisa designs look quite floaty - good returns service so you could always try a few.

I'm 55 but not yet grown up style wise. MOTB looks fill me with dread!

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 13/10/2019 17:26

If one of mine suddenly announced a wedding I'd not eat carbs for a few weeks and wear this

Drabarni · 13/10/2019 17:36

I'm surprised how many white dresses are out under the guise of MOTB or worse MOTG. I'm sure designers just like to imagine it all kicking off Grin I've seen at least a dozen dresses why do it?
I would choose only available in white.

I'm looking as MOTG and can't find anything I like.
That's nice but I wouldn't go for grey, it's a bit boring.
What s her colouring?/season.
What colour will the bridesmaids and groom be wearing, I'm looking for a contrast to those colours.

LookingForward2020 · 13/10/2019 18:54

I sent the picture of the ASOS dress to my sister and she doesn’t like it! She with show it to DM and take from there. Sister is convinced a suit would be better. A cousin (she lives near DM and they get on on) has offered to help so I might not have to worry about it after all!

Bridesmaids will be wearing champagne coloured dresses.

Thanks again everyone.

ASOS dress material looks cheap and sweaty, sorry.

Tehmina2 · 13/10/2019 20:07

Have you looked at Simply Be as it's a fashionable site for women over size 12?

Tehmina2 · 13/10/2019 20:14

Just had a look on Simply Be for you.
Go to the Occasionwear 'dresses' section.
There are some lovely size 18-20 midi length dresses by Coast, Joanna Hope, Chichi London etc.
Lots of blazers available to match on the site too.

StCharlotte · 13/10/2019 23:21

I'm surprised how many white dresses are out under the guise of MOTB or worse MOTG.

And how many people are suggesting black (unless It's an Italian wedding of course where I understand It's practically the law to wear black.)

OP does your sister live in the same country as your Mum?

I can't help thinking trying to please two people from afar is a bit of a tall order. And what if it doesn't fit when you get there? Surely they have dress shops where your Mum lives? Couldn't she go shopping with a friend? I can't help feeling you're on a hiding to nothing but good luck Smile

millymae · 13/10/2019 23:46

Haven’t read the whole thread, but have you looked at the Chesca website - there’s some advice there for MOB outfits.
I have only suggested Chesca because I know someone who shops there often and she always looks fabulous. I don’t deny that she has her own style, but she’s definitely the same sort of size and hates to show her knees.

Seahorseshoe · 13/10/2019 23:48

I think it's lovely.

Rickytickytembo · 14/10/2019 01:17

Hi Perditio, I don't I'm afraid. I found it on Pinterest, and it gave a link to a site called fit and fifty (or similar) but I couldn't then find the image on that site. Have a look at Aussie designer Carla Zampatti. She has fabulous, flattering designs for this age group. Suspect that picture is from a few years ago when that chartreuse colour was popular.
