WWW's six week 10 yy boot camp WEEK TWO of the Aug/Sept thread

Hello! This is week two of the SEVENTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

( how did that happen?)

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a resuklt. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, especially in this heat
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Anyone who feels like it, post how you've been feeling since doing this and why you want to keep doing it. Add what you want to achieve at the end of it too if you want to.

Here's mine:
I want to be a size I'm happier with by ds's tenth birthday, which is 2 months away. I want to not want to cry when I see the photos.

Are you an aunt yet Marina? (is this her first?)

I'm stil being good about the gym, and yoga, and eating fairly sensibly as well. In fact if it weren't for the deliciously creamy cocktails I'd be doing very well

Hurricane Dean has all gone now, leaving nothing but big waves. This afternoon we are going to the forest to find monkeys

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 19/08/2007 19:28

Good evening all. I have had a better day. Here it is, Sobernow style...
Water - tick
Moisturiser - tick
Handcream - tick
Food - healthy
Wine - cross
Exercise - tick - 10 mins rowing and an hours dog walk. I was planning a run tonight but I can't stop yawning! So will also have...
Early Night - tick!

And I've deep-conditioned my hair, waxed, plucked, mini-pedicured and applied tanning lotion. Just need to sort all the animals out and I can go to bed.

Marina · 19/08/2007 19:39

I'm an aunt, hurrah! Gorgeous hairy baby girl delivered by emergency c-section at lunchtime. No name yet. Not the birth hoped for, but it sounds as though their care has been very good and dsis is the pragmatic sort (unlike me who blubbed for a week when I finally accepted a VBAC with dd was not going to happen). Am hoping to see them tomorrow, thanks for all messages. It is her first and she is 41, I am so proud and happy for them both. I hope dh and I can be as good an uncle and aunt as they have been to my gruesome twosome.
Anyhoo, have grazed off party left-overs today, ironed energetically for England (ds, loafing on the sofa with Harry Potter, challenged me to iron 50 items in two hours and I did...and am less than half-way through our ironing Matterhorn ), drunk plenty of water and generally been ecstatically happy No drink either...yet.
Prufrock, your afternoon sounds a bit like me picking toddlers out of our shrubbery yesterday afternoon - but I bet the reality is rather different . Pray, how long is your holiday?
Winnie, when are you off? How lovely that you have this trip planned, I hope you both have a super time
Rosmerta, is the Bio-oil working? I've heard great things of it. Wonder if they sell it by the vat?
Glad you had a better day Duchess

TheDuchessOfNorkPark · 19/08/2007 20:05

Congratulations Aunt Marina!

winnie · 19/08/2007 21:21

Marina, congratulations I have a feeling you will be a wonderful Aunt

I have done an hours yoga this evening as I am feeling so much better but am exhausted so am off to bed with my book.

tortoiseSHELL · 19/08/2007 21:25

Congratulations marina, I'm sure you will be the BEST aunt!!! It's a very special role I think, I've always had a great relationship with one of my aunts, and we still always go to hers to stay once or twice a year. Congrats to you and your sis!

Congratulations Aunt Marina, how fab!

lol at 'pray how long is your holiday' ha ha, yes Prufrock, do you think you will be able to bear England at all this year?

Well done everyone who is doing well and serious bollockings to those who aren't. I include myself in the latter of course. Desperate for winter to be here so I don't mind walking again.

tomorrow is another week!

I only have 10 more days. tbh (and I know this is going to sound so spoilt) I want to come home. I am having a fabulous time, but I miss my dog. And I want to see what my garden looks like, and eat more of my home grown potatoes and salad. And know wheteher my pepper and courgette plants have actually grown any, and just get back to normality. So I suppose that means that this holiday has actually been a success, in that it's made me look forward to my life. And dh and I have talked a lot and I think both realised that we do actually still quite like each other, when we actually get time to spend together.

prufrock · 19/08/2007 23:25

Oh and Congratulations Marina. Are you to be Aunt or Aunty? I think Aunt has a certain ring to it - almost Austenesque

bamamama · 20/08/2007 05:07

Congratulations Aunt Marina (I too like the Austenesque-ness of this I shall be Mrs Bamamama for the rest of the day) I hope your dsis recovers speedily. Any news on the name yet?
Bootcamping down under is semi successful if you avert your eyes from the pile of empty shiraz bottles from the weekend. We've (sort of) decided on a no booze during the week pact which will keep the weight off and my liver intact. I've done loads of walking as we don't have a car and have empty kitchen cupboards so poor ds's pushchair has been loaded up with healthy stuff every day since we got here. Frankly my dears I'm knackered!
Enjoy your holiday Winnie and enjoy the last few days of yours Prufrock. I'm just waiting for ds to wake up from his nap then I'm off to hike round the lake in the sunshine! Enjoy your monday.

arfishy · 20/08/2007 07:56

My pedometer fell down the toilet.

I have taken this as a sign to continue to drink wine for another week.

(Congratulations Marina!)

tigermoth · 20/08/2007 08:21

just caught this - congratulations Marina and family

Dingle · 20/08/2007 08:23

Oh, reading all your posts make me feel so baaad!!!!!

Got my pedometer, but results are not good. Really miss the school runs- I am going to spend some time (!!!) on the running machine this evening-even if it's only 10 minutes.

Drinking less wine and tea and trying to drink more water or fruit juice.

Being good with hand cream & moisturiser

Went shopping (childless!!) yesterday and got loads of fruit, veg and salad.

Need more early nights as I have so much going on ATM I am not sleeping well.

Got my hair colour still in it's box! BUT I have booked in for a quick hair cut tomorrow. Trying to do my nails more often too- they are so weak.

TBH I am feeling really drained and grotty and I have all afternoon at the hospital with DD to look forward to!! They are meant to be doing moulds for her hearing aids!!

Dingle · 20/08/2007 08:24

I am sure you will make the perfect Auntie Marina.

Marina · 20/08/2007 10:46

PMSL at poor arfishy's pedometer doom There can't be a Mner standing who has not dropped something electronic down the loo during her parenting years...or is is just me...and bundle
Actually prufrock I can totally understand what you mean. It does sound a like a superb holiday and it's wonderful that you and dh have enjoyed the closeness and the time together, but I think I'd be homesick too tbh. A fortnight is always the perfect length for me. Hope you enjoy the rest of it though
I wish I could post the pics I've had of my new niece, she really is adorable (love a hairy baby). Am off to see them this afternoon very briefly, thanks all for the kind words and good wishes. I've been trying to encourage dsis to come on here, I know she has checked out the recommendations bit of the site - but so far she has not bitten I would not mind at all.
We try and stay off the booze during the week too Bamamama, usually successfully.
Wishing everyone a healthy, happy boot camp week. It's great walking weather in central London - cool, grey, slight drizzle...

Marina · 20/08/2007 10:47

dingle, best of luck with the hospital appt with dd, and hope you feel a bit more rested soon

rosmerta · 20/08/2007 13:41

Congratulations Marina, I've only just started using the bio-oil so will let you know how it works!

Dingle - good luck with the hospital appt

prufrock · 21/08/2007 04:28

I've been so so bad. But I promise I will be better when I get home. 20 year olf rum is remarkabyl easy to drionk

bamamama · 21/08/2007 07:18

I wondered who was up at 4am... I see you are soldiering on to enjoy the last few days of your holiday Prufrock. Brave you

winnie · 21/08/2007 08:39

prufrock, lol at you with your bottle of rum in paradise Lucky you

Lol at Marina too with the 'great walking weather'. Autumn will be the time we all get super fit then

Dingle, nice to see you. Hope the app went well.

arfishy, hope you don't feel too lost without your MORON

bamamama, of course you are knackered! Bootcamping is about looking after yourself so... take it easy for a while. You need to recover after recent life changes. Oh and the trip isn't until the end of September so I have almost 6 weeks to shift some more weight

WWW, you seem noticably absent

Good day yesterday

rosmerta · 21/08/2007 12:28

Prufrock - I take it you didn't get the worst of the hurricane then? Sounds gorgeous where you are

bamamama - agree with winnie! Take it easy for a bit

I've only got three weeks before my holiday so am not expecting to lose a lot of weight in that time but never mind. On the plus side, my skin has really cleared up

legalalien · 21/08/2007 16:23
  • am still around but limited posting time as am under the cosh at work; didn't go TOO badly astray on the weekend (despite Sunday BBQ with co-antipodeans), have discovered that being the person in charge of the cooking places a natural limit on quaffing time.....
Dingle · 21/08/2007 17:03

Hi ladies! Building work is going great guns today. Spent about an hour having my hair cut while DD helped my hairdresser!!LOL
Feeling rather scalped ATM but I am sure I will get used to it.
Doing much better this week, even managed to eat breakfast for 2 days. Upping my intake of fruit/veg- just munched a carrot after putting dinner on for the kiddies.
Cut right back on alcohol- still having wine as good as daily but only a splash in a large glass of soda water.
Doing terrible with my ped!!! It doesn't register me walking around the house- have I set it up wrongly?

WideWebWitch · 21/08/2007 21:22

I've been terrible, Muriel

but well done everyone
