WWW's six week 10 yy boot camp WEEK TWO of the Aug/Sept thread

WideWebWitch · 13/08/2007 07:51

Hello! This is week two of the SEVENTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

( how did that happen?)

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a resuklt. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, especially in this heat
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Anyone who feels like it, post how you've been feeling since doing this and why you want to keep doing it. Add what you want to achieve at the end of it too if you want to.

Here's mine:
I want to be a size I'm happier with by ds's tenth birthday, which is 2 months away. I want to not want to cry when I see the photos.

Tell us which dodgy mumsnetter then batters! Have a lovely time and give her my love if I know her.

Oi DofN, 14 IS NOT ON THE BIG SIDE!

LA lol at your bedtime conversation

I like all these book stories.

Winnie glad you haven't got a hangover. If swearing used up calories I'd be the size of Kate Moss or smaller. I wish

Hmm, the Max Miller Blue Book...is it a nice house feetheart?

I got all my dad's books when he died and eventually threw some of them out last year when we moved here, we just didn't have enough room. But I can't bear to part with a 1970s edition of Who's Who in The Theatre, it reminds me of him so much. I'm looking at it now and its spine is yellow with nicotine.

Happy Weekend everyone!

I just didn't eat all morning, which isn't good, because I went to have my hair cut and then to Tesco and only then when I got back did I have time.

puy lentils with feta, garlic, chilli, lemon juice, olive oil
water
a fairy cake
2 pieces of toast and Marmite
and no idea hwat we're having later but Mr Pinot and Mr Grigio are invited. Again

motherinferior · 17/08/2007 18:27

Today is not a day for bootcamp. I have packed. I have packed. I HAVE PACKED.

And also made muffins . What is it with me and pre-departure baking? Ostensibly they're for tomorrow's six am breakfast but, as the divine Hoxtonchick pointed out when she and Edam came round to cheer my Friday lunchtime, that is why God invented croissant shops.

motherinferior · 17/08/2007 18:30

I can't face the effect of booze, though, after a couple of weeks on the wagon, not combined with the early start.

Marina · 17/08/2007 19:25

Ha ha, I know who you're off with tonight batters! Enjoy yourselves you rascals
We have dd's birthday party tomorrow, torrential rain forecast, so today I have been too busy frantically sprucing up the house to have time to eat, drink, walk or rub in cree, as ds used to call it as a baby.
Bang goes our hope of slinging them all in the back garden for an hour
Once dh and I have mucked out the dining room ("are those peas under the table?") Mr Leffe and Mr Hoegaarden are calling in, I think.
Winnie, feetheart is right, you have been an inspirational boot camper, what's a slab of chocolate between friends
in a congratulatory way to the Duchess for both her premises and her dwindling situpon
and rofl at legalalien's silvertongued Romeo of a dh

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 17/08/2007 19:47

rofl @ legalaliens Flexitol moment!

winnie - glad you had a better day

batters - hope you have an excellent evening. We will be here for confessions anytime over the weekend...

www - I meant the size 14 clothes I bought were a loose fit on me (nice surprise as I also took 16's into the fitting room) - I didn't mean that size 14 was big!

MI - are you packed then? Have a lovely trip!

Marina - Happy Birthday to your DD. Hope you have a nice party!

I AM GOING RUNNING NOW... YIPPEEEEE!

tigermoth · 17/08/2007 20:23

Have a lovely evening everyone. Well done MI to have finished actually packing before you go on holiday - I am still packing up to the last second before we close the front door and then sling haphazard stuff onto the pavement and into the car as we drive off.

Batters and dodgy mumsnetter - have a great evening!

Winnie, you have been so consistently good you owe it to yourself to have a day's badness now and again.

Marina, I have tomorrow earmarked as my manic cleaning day. Bedrooms and spare room (sigh). I am doing this as the weather looks bad so when it's better next week, I will be off, out and away with a clear conscience. At least you are not cleaning in sunny, want-to-be-outside-enjoying-the-summer weather. That is the pits. And happy birthday to your dd!. I trust you are not sharing the hosting of this party with any other of your dd's friend's parents. The park party you mentioned would have been a washout this weekend.

Duchess I can see you are on a high. How lovely to find you are a size smaller than you imagined AND the clothes cost 70% less! I envy you a lot for that shopping trip to Monsoon. I wish I could go shopping this week. Why oh why is there no Monsoon in Woolwich! (Marina don't answer that!).

And yes, I did manage one Lido swim this week. I went today at lunchtime. Scooted from my office, off to the pool and back in 50 minutes. I am resolving to use at least one (ideally two) lunch hours a week to go for a swim, as well as swimmng at weekends. It means I will have to cram food shopping, home admin, banking into the lunch hours but it can be done.

bamamama · 18/08/2007 08:09

coo-eeee! hello everyone. Managed to catch up with all the posts, all the housemoving, office politics, arse lifting, holidaying and baking sounds exhausting.

I have jet lag although the flight wasn't as bad as it could have been. Ds had a couple of spectacular hissy fits however I'm never going to see any of those people again so I just didn't care! We've sort of got settled and I'm intending to start seious bootcamping again on Monday. A bonus of packing up the house was I found a moron that used to belong to dh so I have requisitioned it. How many steps should we be aiming for??? Anyway, hope everyone has a good weekend, we are unfortunalely living opposite a bottle shop so will power will definatley be needed however as I'm still in holiday mode until dh starts work on Monday I'm sure a few glasses of aussie red won't matter too much...

Marina · 18/08/2007 08:57

Hey, welcome back bamamama - you sound v. cheerful for someone who has flown all the way round the world with a small child and lived to tell the tale ...you've not been over introducing yourself to the bottle-shop proprietor already have you ?
In haste as this is a displacement activity - I really should be decoking the downstairs loo we need every square cm of space today!
Have a great weekend all

winnie · 18/08/2007 09:06

Bamamama, glad everything went well and that you are able to feel in holiday mode for a few days at least. Enjoy. Best wishes in the new house

TM, well done on the swimming. I am convinced that if one enjoys a certain type of exercise and one feels benefits one finds time however difficult. Good for you.

DoNB, well done on the running. I am very envious of runners and have found myself almost breaking into a run on some of my walks However, I am not built for running but hold on to the hope that once the next 3 stone has gone I maybe able to start running.

Marina, goodluck with the party.

Batters I hope you enjoyed your evening.

WWW, hope you enjoyed Mr Pinot and Mr Grigio Your comment re your Dad's nicotine stained book gave me a bitter-sweet smile as I have a gardening encyclopedia of Dad's I can't bear to part with it yet it is nicotine stained and even still smells of cigerettes

Had a good day yesterday but the holidays seem to have largely been a time of maintenance rather than weight loss which is ok but I am off to Barcelona & Madrid for a long weekend at the end of September and want to be a stone lighter so I'd better start focusing

Nice to see you back so soon bamamama. Glad the journey was OK. How long 'til you have to fly all the way back again?!

rosmerta · 18/08/2007 14:56

hi all, lol @ la dh!

bamamama glad the flight wasn't too bad! The last time we flew with ds we ended up next to the same person on the way there and back. I don't think he was too pleased!

I've been having some good days now food wise - you're all keeping me inspired! But dh did the shopping last night and he went off-list with a cake & a packet of pringles!

I've ordered my Moron so I'll be able to start counting my steps soon. WWW, oh bootcamp sage, how many steps should I be aiming for?

WideWebWitch · 18/08/2007 21:22

bamamama, VERY impressed at your flight, 'we won't ever see you again' serentity to be applauded, wow!

rosemerta, they say 10,000 for fitness, 13,000 for weight loss and goodness, once you start doing it you realise what a long way those are!

Batters, I've never met Blu but would love to, glad you hada lovely and abstemious night, a bottle each is indeed poxy

Dof N, glad you clarified re the siz 14, that's OK THEN!

Winnie, I know, re books. You really ought to come here one day you know

tigermoth, well done on swimming

Marina, I hope your loo is now pristine! and you had a nice time with Mssrs effe and Hoegaarden

Hey, let's all think of MI who is on holiday as I type, wow.

WideWebWitch · 18/08/2007 21:26

Today

Toast in BED BROUGHT BY DS AND DD! Oh I have trained them well. They didn't wake us until 9am despite being up at 6am, Yeees!

a couple of pieces of pizza

a small sausage at a childrens party this pm

chargrilled veg
small steak
wine

that's it!
no exercise other than looking at houses. Saw one which is lovely so am going to put in a stupid offer in a week if it's still on. If we get it fine if we don't also fine. Offer based on a) it was flooded and b) no bath, only 2 showers and c) no parking and d) small garden but otherwise is house of dreams. So will offer asking price less 15%

just back from a few days away - look on my profile for who ds1 met on the REAL BLACK PEARL ship - he was so excited!

Sobernow - do you often come into Bristol?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 18/08/2007 22:59

After yesterdays high...

...today I've had no exercise, not enough water, no sunscreen (not much point though), 2 slices of Victoria sponge, my feet are vile, no moisturiser and my legs need shaving. And I had another very late night.

I will do better tomorrow (an easy promise as I couldn't really do any worse)!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 18/08/2007 23:01

ts - brilliant! Where was that?

tortoiseSHELL · 18/08/2007 23:04

Maryport in Cumbria

Marina · 18/08/2007 23:18

I have a sneaking affection for Maryport ts! Has it improved lately I wonder...such heritage, but...needing a bit of TLC
He looks as though he can't believe his luck, bless him
Having subsisted until 3pm on water, a corn on the cob and fruit, it stood to reason that an avalanche of chipolatas, falafel and mini lemon muffins would wreak havoc on my bootcampery today.
We had better weather than anticipated, and aside from one rather lively (older) guest, impeccable behaviour from our party guests. Dd is worn out and all Barbied out and so am I frankly.
Ooh, and at 42 + 2 and a bazillion Prostins later, my sis has the option to dodge the knife after all and finally cranked into labour earlier this evening. Cannot stop thinking about her, which will hopefully burn off some cals too
Glad you and blu had one of your "fun nights out" batters and good luck with the house-hunting www
And what can I say about dd1 sobernow - yet another in the Bootcamp ID Parade of suspected sassy dds

winnie · 19/08/2007 16:03

Marina, everything crossed for your sister. How exciting

TheDuchessOfNorksBride, hope you are having a better day.

TS, ds looks so thrilled. Bless.

Sobernow, lol at dd

WWW, I'd really love to visit
Good luck with the house hunting.

Batters, hope you are enjoying your day & glad you had a good evening. I am going to Spain with a girlfriend from my university days. We have one of those fab relationships where we might not be in touch for a while but then we pick up where we left off and its like neither have been away.
Am really looking forward to it.

I've lost most of the weekend with D&V (yuk) and I am therefore feeling very fragile & taking it easy with the papers and a Rebus novel I picked up for 20p this week

Since starting the bootcamp thread I'm using so many potions and lotions! Hand cream, bio oil on my stretchmarks (yuk!), tanning moisturiser on my legs, facial moisturiser! I don't think I've ever had so many different creams in my life!
