Is there a gym kit thread...?

If not, I thought I'd start one Smile

I have some Sweaty Betty leggings which look beautiful but if I'm brutally honest, the material is too thick. I'm currently lusting after their running jacket https://www.sweatybetty.com/shop/tops/coats-and-jackets/fast-track-running-jacket-SB1962Black.html?dwvarr_SB1962Blackk_color=black&cgid=&tile=2#q=Jacket&lang=default&start=2

I need a new sports bra. I like the look of the straps on this one from H&M (see attached pic) but I may need more support than 'medium'.

I have an amazing H&M gym vest which I absolutely LOVE. Such good value. I might get a grey one but I sweat profusely so not sure that's a good idea Hmm

Has anyone got any trainer recommendations, particularly for wide feet?

Wide feet - buy men's trainers! Often even the same exact model is a lot wider in men's version than womens. Another plus, they are not all bright pink..

cheesenpickles · 18/09/2019 09:51

Had anybody had their feet specially measured at all? I think I've been assuming I'm a size 7 since I was about 15, but I tried some of my sisters shoes on the other day (she's a 5) and I'm wondering if I've been wearing the wrong size for years!

KatharinaRosalie · 18/09/2019 09:55

No, I just try shoes on and see that they are not too snug, but have some space, as feet always swell up a bit when exercising. Different brands also fit differently, so I often need to go up or down in size.

Waxlyrically · 18/09/2019 10:04

I have wide feet and low arches and can’t get on with anything other than Mizuno for running trainers. ASICS gave me really bad lower back pain as they were too bouncy and cushioned. Nike leggings are hard wearing and don’t fall down although I do have a pair of SB ones I picked up in a sale which are lovely. Most of my running tops are Under Armour as the fit is loose but not swamping. The thing I just can’t find is loose women’s running shorts they are always too short and ride up or cycle shorts style.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/09/2019 10:31

I like new balance sports bras, I get mine from TKMaxx

Trainers for wide feet? I never got on with brooks unfortunately. My ultimate we're a pair of Hoka one and I wore them til they died sad times and I can't afford a new pair yet, they are rarely in the sales

Can we add a subsection of running kit with pockets? I had two cheap pairs of shorts with pockets over the summer, but I need some tights for autumn/winter with a deep phone pocket in and they are so expensive! Any recommendations?

Stumpedasatree · 18/09/2019 13:03

@thenewaveragebear1983, I saw recommended on here this brand on Amazon, all with pockets. I've not bought any myself yet.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/09/2019 13:15

Stumped that's great, thank you!!

TamarindCove · 18/09/2019 13:33

@frozenonions

I love those leggings! If you call or message a branch then they will post out to you if they have them. If they haven’t, they will send your phone number to all their branches and then you’ll get a call from any branch that has the item in stock.

I did this once before and had a call within 10 minutes, paid over the phone and they posted them (free of charge) to me.

frozenonions · 18/09/2019 13:49

@TamarindCove Really?! Omg that's amazing. You might have just cost me £95 Grin

My size 8 trainers arrived. They fit perfectly! I'm so pleased. It's like walking on marshmallow fluff Grin I've been poorly this week so not tested them at the gym yet. It's so nice to actually feel like there is enough width.

Oooo those are Nice!!!

frozenonions · 18/09/2019 14:45

Thank you! They are pretty but also functional and wide, which pretty much ticks all my trainer boxes.

@DarlingNikita zip up jacket? Have a look at Lululemon Define jacket. Bit definitely falls into the pricey category I'm afraid 🤦‍♀️

BrassicaBabe · 18/09/2019 17:11

I'm looking for joggers that will pull on over trainers to keep warm after. So struggling on that point. Then if I find any the colours are rubbish for me. I'm an "Autumn" (well this is S&B 🤣) so I need browns, oranges, greens, teal etc rather than grey, black or baby pink. Any clues folks? 😊

cheesenpickles · 18/09/2019 17:38

Not quite gym kit but my new gym headphones arrived today and I'm SO excited. I've got a daith and tragus piercing in one of my ears so finding a pair of headphones that fit (and especially as you can't try in-ears on and returns aren't accepted because of hygiene understandably) so hard. I'd like to eventually upgrade to some Beats over ears but until I have a casual £300 laying about these Skullcandy ones should suffice.

@frozeonions, beautiful shoes! Too nice for me to get all muddy.

@BrassicaBabe I am now in love with that Lululemon jacket! Why can't there be a cheaper equivalent?

BrassicaBabe · 19/09/2019 07:39

@Stumpedasatree yes, they are pretty amazing. Often on eBay. Give that a go!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/09/2019 09:40

Cheese I have some overear ones, only cheap from amazon (I think they were £30, which is cheap for bone conduction ones) and they are great- would that type of thing work instead of in ear ones?

DarlingNikita · 19/09/2019 10:45

Thanks BrassicaBabe. Had already seen it and gone Shock at the price! The pale green one in the discount section I might be able to stretch to, but am not sure it's my colour, and for that money I need to be happy with it.

Re: joggers, would you consider wide-leg casual trousers instead? I don't have any actual product suggestions, but you might have more luck with that than with joggers.

Stumpedasatree · 19/09/2019 11:17

Just realised in my first post I was banging on about XT tights, I meant 2XU tights, doh!

Placemarking as about to start yoga again...Smile

frozenonions · 22/09/2019 19:13

I managed to properly try my new trainers in the gym today (after a week of illness) and they were fabulous. I'm so pleased.

I also wore a new sports bra from H&M which I actually prefer to the black one in my OP. Have attached a pic as I can't link Hmm It's a nice colour pink and gives good support without crushing my tits. I wouldn't do a 10k in it, but for a pretty hard 90 minute gym session this afternoon it kept my 36Cs in place nicely.

Anyone else got new purchases to share?Smile

Lovely bra pic Frozen. Sadly would be of absolutely no assistance to by boobs.

Popped on to ask about caps. Anyone seen anything they like? Need one for running in the rain I think. We're heading to that time of year.
