This dress for a date night with hubs...

Hi :)

It is my birthday weekend this weekend , me and my Husband are off out to Stratford upon Avon for a meal at Bella Italia, and then off for some cocktails .

Is this dress too much ? ( pic included ) I am in love with it, just not sure if it is too much for just a meal and cocktails?

All opinions welcome... (p.s, dress already purchased, but backup outfit not planned yet )

Bella italia really isn’t very fancy so you’ll feel overdressed there but good for cocktails

I think it's a lovely dress but for me it's an 'occasion' dress and the restaurant would have to be very fancy to warrant it. I personally would feel overdressed in that if I were to go somewhere like Bella Italia. Is the cocktail bar very fancy? Also will you husband be wearing a suit? If he's not as dressed up as you, it might look a bit odd.

It is from a website ,called silk Fred - they have some beautiful stuff on there, highly recommend.. I wanted something classy and wanted to feel nice and dress up, as rarely get to go out, due to childcare!

Probably a bit much for somewhere like Bella italia tbh.

However it is a gorgeous dress and If you want to wear it to that restaurant then do it, it’s your birthday

I would wear it if you want to but be aware people around you in Bella Italia won't be as glam.

How is it unkind to say it’s too much for a certain restaurant? Confused The OP asks in her post if it’s too much so people are telling her. It’s not unkind!

Wear the dress but make "hubs" wear a suit! He can't wear jeans if you're in an off-the-shoulder gown like that. Might also be tempted to upgrade the restaurant if it's a special occasion, but obviously the birthday girl gets to choose.

It's lovely. Bella Italia is lovely but I don't think the two go together. Could you maybe pick a slightly more upmarket restaurant?

It's lovely but in Bella italia you'll be sitting with everyone else casually dressed in jeans and the like. It's not a high end restaurant more a tgi Friday kinda place.

If you're ok with that go for it.

For a date night somewhere casual like that, I'd wear probably good jeans, dark indigo or black, heeled boots and a more evening top.

I agree about Bella Italia. Hate to sound like a c*nt but it's pizza hut level no?

A couple of years ago i went to a cocktail bar for the first time. Group outing. I overdressed and felt i stuck out. I wasn't in a ball gown or anything but all the other women in our group and at the bar were all in jeans/posh top/heels sort of combos and i felt i stuck out a bit.
