Hi :)

It is my birthday weekend this weekend , me and my Husband are off out to Stratford upon Avon for a meal at Bella Italia, and then off for some cocktails .

Is this dress too much ? ( pic included ) I am in love with it, just not sure if it is too much for just a meal and cocktails?

All opinions welcome... (p.s, dress already purchased, but backup outfit not planned yet )

I initially thought it's way too much for Bella Italia! But as you're going for cocktails after and as it's your birthday, i'd say go for it. Rather overdressed than underdressed.

You'll probably make people in the restaurant jealous as they'll be wondering where you're off to afterwards! Wink

Life is too short to not wear the things you love or to use the stuff you have. Wear the dress, enjoy the dress!! I no longer keep things for best as I realised that by doing so I wasn't enjoying whatever item it was that I had. Have the most fabulous evening!!

I’ve seen Silkfred ads. Their dresses are gorgeous. I’d wear that if I had the figure for it. Enjoy.

moonpiggle · 15/08/2019 19:38

Its perfect. Wear it

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 15/08/2019 19:38

The dress is gorgeous, it’s your birthday & you deserve to feel lovely. That being said if you’ve the budget for cocktails why not just have a few less after & switch the res to Sorrento, Hotel du Vin, Lambs, El Greco, Moons or similar? The dress would fit more in all of those.

maddy68 · 15/08/2019 19:40

I think it's gorgeous and I would definitely wear it even in Bella Italia. (Some snobs here😂)

maddy68 · 15/08/2019 19:43

There are some lovely restaurant in Stratford that aren't too Pricey and people dress up a bit more . But rest assured there will be people dressed up in Bella before they also go elsewhere

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 15/08/2019 19:51

It isn't snobby to think that there are some nicer places to eat than Bella Italia, but anyway, the OP has said that's where she has a voucher for, so people are just answering the question in her OP about whether the dress is "a bit much" for the occasion. Do people think we should only reply if we're going to say it's fine? I mean, the world won't end if she goes to the restaurant in flouncy, off-the-shoulder cocktail dress, but she might feel a bit self conscious if everyone else is in their scruffs.

Wear the dress, OP, but insist that your husband matches your effort and wears some proper smart trousers instead of jeans! You could wear a biker or denim jacket or a wrap/pashmina over the dress for the dinner, which you can then whip off at the cocktail place.

Movinghouseatlast · 15/08/2019 19:53

There are lots of lovely restaurants in Stratford where that wouldn't look out of place. Could you change the restaurant?!

It is a stunning dress though. Just wondering if you could dress it down in some way, but it is pretty dressy.

SunsetYorks · 15/08/2019 19:56

Can you keep the voucher for another time maybe? Dress is beautiful but way too much for Bella Italia!

Wellmet · 15/08/2019 19:57

It's beautiful, wear it, definitely! I love Bella Italia, there are some serious snobs on here.
Bella Italia is certainly a treat for my family, I think people have no understanding of different budgets. It is absolutely nothing like Nando's.

User10fuckingmillion · 15/08/2019 19:58

I’ve seen people in dressier things in normal chain restaurants. I just assume that they’re doing something fancy after-as OP is.

Chocmallows · 15/08/2019 20:03

I'd wear the dress, but team with lower key jacket and wedges to walk in and out of Bella Italia. It will look great for cocktails after.
Have a great time!

JunesBalloon · 15/08/2019 20:09

Just wear it OP. It's stunning. I very much wear the clothes I want to regardless of the occasion and often totally dress up even for work if the mood takes me.

Life's short, the really nice stuff in your wardrobe probably doesn't get worn enough. Enjoy it.

borntobequiet · 15/08/2019 20:14

Try Sorrento instead.

happycamper11 · 15/08/2019 21:24

Our Bella Italias are very central and lots of people use it for pre theatre/ballet or whatever else. No one would bat an eyelid about how you were dressed. Go for it OP

WanderingTrolley1 · 15/08/2019 21:27

Way overdressed for Bella Italia.

Luckingfovely · 15/08/2019 21:29

Lovely dress. Wearing it to Bella Italia, you're going to look like you've been thrown out of a much nicer place, or a wedding. It will look daft.

All of that said, if it makes you feel good and you don't care about standing out, wear the damn thing anyway!

Sparklyring · 15/08/2019 21:40

Love the dress but I wear jeans & uggs to Bella Italia.

TigerDroveAgain · 15/08/2019 21:46

Cowboy boots and denim jacket : jobs a goodun.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/08/2019 21:50

DO NOT WEAR A PASHMINA!

IWouldBeSuperb · 15/08/2019 21:57

Grin Remus

josiewosiee · 15/08/2019 22:02

I love the dress. I don't think you will look silly wearing dress for Bella Italia; it will be evening and most people will be dressed nice
