I'd definitely be up for a meet up. Smile
Maybe in the autumn once everyone's holidays are out the way?

Interesting Re the service offered for the mole scan @just.
My dsis died from (a misdiagnosed) malignant melanoma age 44. Last time I asked they said they'd only look at specific ones and not a full body assessment.
I should enquire again in case things have changed here in the uk.

Ellapaella · 19/06/2019 13:08

@GinandGingerBeer that's awful, sorry to hear that. I've had a couple of moles removed and biopsied. One on my chest was described as 'precancerous' as in the cells had started to change and behave like melanoma but hadn't fully evolved into a melanoma (that's how it was described to me). I had to go back and have clear margins taken, had quite a chunk removed.
That triggered a lot of anxiety as a good friend of mine from university died at 49 from melanoma. My experience at the melanoma clinic was that the doctors were lovely and checked all my moles at the same time. Only a couple were biopsied, the rest they said were fine. I don't have any follow up and if I was worried about another mole I'd have to be referred back. That may be different in other parts of UK though.

Totally up for meet up - we've chatted about it before and think we were torn between London and Edinburgh?

justilou1 · 19/06/2019 13:36

It’s one thing we are paranoid about here, @GinandGingerBeer! So sorry about your friend! 49 is young! My aunt died of ocular melanoma and I have lost a few cousins in the last couple of years as well to melanoma. Mum had many removed along the way, but was also a sun worshipper and a chain-smoker. I have always covered up and sun-screened. I simply don’t like the feeing of hot sun directly on my skin. I never, ever have!!! I suspect these barnacles are remnants of sunburns from when I was very wee. It fascinated me when I lived in the Netherlands how they didn’t associate their massive rise in melanoma diagnosis with their increase in long holidays in the sun (where they bake until they look like crocodiles)... Heard some horror stories of many people repeatedly being told their mole was nothing to worry about until it was far too late for anything to be done. Grim. Glad to be here in this case, but suspect this will be okay. I just washed the gore out of my hair and feel (and suspect I smell) much better!!! Meanwhile, all my lovely Hushistas, please wear your sunscreen and hats while on holidays, and cover up with your über glamorous kimonos and sunglasses!

NotAnActualSheep · 19/06/2019 14:28

Oooh just - that sounds a bit scary. Hope you are OK..how long does it take to get the results back? Glad you've managed to have a hair wash at least! I did laugh at your description of the wonky boob-y wolf head on your tee shirt Grin . And congrats on the lottery win (amounts don't matter - its the concept that's important Wink )

Can't believe they've been so dismissive of your concerns though gin. I would maybe try again, as it is something that seems to be increasing, and surely should be checked regularly. (Like with ella ) I'm always shocked how blasé many people are re covering up and how "important" it is to have a tan - even a fake one. I'm hoping the pale and interesting look comes back - though not holding out much hope...

never - fab shirts! I think they both look great. I'd probably go for the larger one, personally, as I think that would look brill over leggings in the autumn too, and it seems just a tad longer. But the smaller definitely isn't too small/ short if you go for that. Well done on sending back the hush stuff - yy, if it isn't perfect, why keep just because it is in the sale.

laska - well done you too! The scarf is beautiful, and i really like the skirt too (esp worn as a "dress' with the matching top), but I agree it is similar in shape to others you have, and if you can get in the sale you will feel better about it! And also soy - I still think the jumper looked lovely on you, but if you wouldn't have worn, no reason to keep!

mrsC I don't know about that sweatshirt but I have found other "faded" stuff I have from hush has faded more in the wash. I got the pale green sweatshirt earlier in the season and I'm sure that has faded further (and the colour catcher sheets I put in with mixed washing loads tend to agree). So my guess - based on absolutely no evidence of the item in question - is that it will go less nuclear and more lemony (?) relatively quickly, if that is the look you are after! It is a fab style.

cake - A long time ago I know, but I really love that dress! I think if it is a style that is new to you it will feel "wrong" to begin with, until you get used to the silhouette. (I had that with cropped wide trousers for a bit - and now I really like them) But it really suits you, and love how you have styled it with the trainers.

soups hope your mini break is lovely! Hope DD is feeling a bit better soon - possibly a bit of an anti-climax after the prom? I get like that too sometimes if there's something I've been looking forward to...

NotAnActualSheep · 19/06/2019 14:35

Oh yes - and definitely up for the meetup. I fancy trying some of your yummy sounding Gin recipes outside the comfort of my own home. I agree with ella that we were considering Edinburgh (hooray!) or London or Dublin (?) a while back. Should we try to pin down a date/ location? I think November (or poss October?) was mooted as a possibility - not too close to Christmas but after late holidays. The Saturdays in November are 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th.

twosoups1972 · 19/06/2019 17:29

@NotAnActualSheep pls not 16th nov, that’s our wedding anniversary!

Laska2Meryls · 19/06/2019 17:50

Toast shirt. Like it. With Chamonix and leggings. This is the 12 and I couldn't go smaller. .. the only thing is collar is a bit high and stiff. Do you think it will soften with washing , Never. ?

I agree about the collar. It is a bit annoying isnt it? I thought the same. I think it will soften. It looks good on you@ laska

Laska2Meryls · 19/06/2019 18:15

Wondering whether to bung it straight into the wash.. but then I have to commit.. have you got your eBay one yet? Also cherries has this one I think, ? Also cropped relaxed trousers in midnight, it's not easy to make them look good in photo but they are keepers..These are the 10 so really relaxed! Sadly the Faye shirt is huge on me and will have to be returned..

@Laska love the blue shirt.
Im in the melanoma gang too. My mum died of melanoma, my sister and I are part of a Cancer Research family study as we have had one each (successfully removed). Worth taking any concerns to your GP. Mine was great and sent me straight for a referral due to family history.

SoyYo · 19/06/2019 19:16

laska really like the Toast shirt/trouser combo on you. Great choice. But Yes unfortunately the Faye shirt looks massively big on you Sad

gin and justi thank you for posting about melanoma checks. I’ve got private med cover through my work and email came through (which I dismissed Blush) from Cigna the insurer offering a free check appointment without having a GP referral. I’m very lax about seeing the Dr and regular checkups in any case but did grow up in subtropical temperatures/often got sunburnt when young so it’s possibly a good idea to take it up. I have some keratosis I think the name is on a bit of my scalp and in a couple of places in my body so best get them looked at but I think last time I asked GP about them he dismissed them as “age related”. That was a while ago though...

SoyYo · 19/06/2019 19:21

whisky having read you I’m definitely taking up the free dermatology checkup offer. Truly sorry about your mum and gin your DSIS.
I think I live in permanent denial that anything could go wrong with me (more like prefer ignorance to facing up the my mortality) but reading you all is a wake up call to stop being so stupid...

Laska2Meryls · 19/06/2019 19:54

yes the Faye is going back Sad. I am keeping the relaxed trousers though..
Never.. I have just taken a hot steam iron/water spray to the Toast shirt and the collar is much better and feels much softer..

OP posts:
Laska2Meryls · 19/06/2019 19:55

.. I also ironed that skirt !! which is this one from last year

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 19/06/2019 20:30

That's good to know @Laska [about the collar]. My shirt is at the post office but will pick up in the morning and see how I get on! So is the astor skirt. I haven't decided about either shirts really as I am waiting to see the ebay one. Then I will make my mind up. Did you get the Toast dress?

NotAnActualSheep · 19/06/2019 20:39

The toast shirt looks fab on you as well laska. Really like it, and so versatile! The relaxed trousers look lovely too. Shame about the shirt though. It looks really pretty and such delicate fabric, but, yes, it does look too big on the shoulders, even though it is "supposed" to be oversized.

Sorry to hear about your mum whisky. yy, wise to get checked (wonder if my GP does similar?)

Laska2Meryls · 19/06/2019 20:42

I have the shirt on still, after ironing! and have paid! so its mine! ( I got it for £70 in the end with JL price match refund and a £5 voucher which was on my account ) so really pleased , (and thanks for the tip --if only Icould justify the linen one )

Nope! ....All still at Swansea! I am sure I am nearer than you , so I dont know why it takes so long.. Do you get special 'friends' delivery?

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 19/06/2019 21:04

@Laska, yes. Its super quick too. Like Hush. Really, I have not bought much for years. This is the most ive spent for a long time. Usually in the sale too. No idea why they gave me it. They sent me a little card through the door saying it was wanting to keep its loyal customers. So there you go! I did used to order [and return] a fair bit. It was my go to shop at one point.

NotAnActualSheep · 19/06/2019 21:08

Just a heads up... Toast stuff on JL website, including that lovely shirt is more reduced than on the toast website. The shirt is £57.50. Go, go, go...

justilou1 · 19/06/2019 21:20

Sorry about your Mum, @whiskyremorse ❤️❤️❤️. The Cloggies all thought I was neurotic covering myself and my kids with sunscreen and hats and sunglasses at any opportunity, and returning from Australia sans a tan. (We all look like piglet)
I should have most of the results back on Tues I think. (When I return to get my lovely blue stitches out)

neveradullmoment99 · 19/06/2019 21:32

Thank you SO much @not. I decided I wanted it loose and baggy like the model so have ordered the 12 and will return the Toast one. That means I can keep it and the other toast shirt :)
