@twosoups1972 I love them all!
The phase 8 dress is a stunner and perfect for your event.

Ellapaella · 28/06/2019 12:20

I like the first two Boden dresses best out of the 3

neveradullmoment99 · 28/06/2019 14:29

Does anyone have the lightweight v-neck vest? I know laska does but she is on her holidays. I cant remember what she said she had ordered size wise. If you have ordered it, did you go for your size or did you size up?

twosoups1972 · 28/06/2019 15:34

Thank you, agree with you that I like the Arket one the least (but dh really likes it on me!).

I'm definitely going to keep the Phase Eight dress even if I don't wear it for the black tie ball. It was £50 down from £140 Smile @justilou1 I do have a couple of cocktail dresses that I could wear but I fancy wearing something new. Not sure now...

justilou1 · 28/06/2019 16:36

Was looking at various “Black Tie Rules” and they’re a little looser than last time I researched, @Twosoups... You could probably get away with it if you accessories with more bling, depending on the event. It’s s gorgeous dress!!!

twosoups1972 · 28/06/2019 16:45

Thank you. I do have a couple of other options as I said. Dd is wearing a long dress but she says parents are generally wearing short dresses. What colour bag would you put with it?

dontcallmelen · 28/06/2019 17:15

Laska hope you had a good journey & totally embrace some R&R have a lovely time.
Nink lovely jacket, you can join me on the bench I’m putting myself on it as have bought quite a few bits last week & am in danger of getting carried away again.
Ella kimono is beautiful, I liked both dresses as well.
Cherries hope ddog is on the mend.
Soups all the dresses are pretty & the phase eight one a real bargain, bag wise if wearing black shoes I would be inclined to go with black bag, but lots of colours would go with it you could also bling up the shoes & bag sparkle looks good with nude, have a great time.

dontcallmelen · 28/06/2019 17:19

Not
lovely dress, did you resolve the shoe conundrum I’m no help as I always always take far too many shoes, I hope MiL gets medication sorted very soon💐
Gin even though shopping was tinged with some sadness it sounds as though Dm enjoyed it & was happy with what she bought💐

NotAnActualSheep · 28/06/2019 17:32

Oooooh - I assume you're in sunny greece now laska - Happy Holidays! Wine Gin Wine

soups - Yay - glad you're feeling better today, and that you (nearly) got everything you needed for DD. I agree with the others - the dresses are lovely on you, especially the blue boden one and the Phase 8. yy, the colouring is great on you. I would probably pick out one of the colours of the spots for a bag? Or just a blush one - but that could look a bit wedding-y? I agree with justi that the "rules" for black tie are pretty much just about anything smart these days, and I think the dress will fit in nicely... I've been to a few black ties for work (awards dinners etc..yawn), and long dresses are definitely the exception. Most ladies have knee length dresses, not just black - though there do tend to be a lot of those - though probably depends on the time of year and the nature of the event (work-y). Plain, or with a small pattern like those spots, or textured with lace etc are more common than patterned/ flowered though. For one I had a dress sort of like this style, but plain cornflower blue rather than purple and spotty and I didn't feel out of place - and that's a similar idea to yours.

nink - hello! Impressed at your ebaying. That is very organised of you - and definitely makes buying things less painful, even though you have been very restrained. The blazer is lovely, and looks like it will work with loads of outfits.

never - I have the lightweight v vest in green and olive, and got S for both, which is my usual size in hush tees. I didn't want it to gape under the arms, which can happen with larger tops - and that size is fine for me. I'm not very norky though.

NotAnActualSheep · 28/06/2019 17:36

Thanks len ! I'm still dithering on the shoes. Think I may go for birkies instead of one of the closed toe styles, as I've had those on today and forgot how blooming comfy they are for walking... They've been neglected for a couple of years as I've been too self conscious of my feet/ nails - but they are lovely and airy on the toes - which i think is going to be needed...

I can't really advise sorry, but what I would say is take some of that (I think it's Vicks) cold prevention stuff. It really works as long as you use it straight away.
You squirt it up your nose and breath in gently. Do not inhale!! It honestly feels like your heads gonna explode if you do. It has stopped me on many occasion just using once in a morning.

I've been to Leeds shopping today. Not very successful but I did end up trekking all the way back to &other stories for some heels.
On the train at the mo, will post a pic later.

dontcallmelen · 28/06/2019 18:39

never that’s a tough one, if she was receiving treatment I would say definitely not as she would be immune comprised but whilst not receiving treatment could still be very weakened, my advice would be try the cold preventive spray tonight & if you feel clear tomorrow then go if you don’t feel any better then unfortunately I think you have to miss it, I’m no expert but my dd is immune suppressed & we all have to be very careful around her.

twosoups1972 · 28/06/2019 18:42

@neveradullmoment99 sorry about your SIL Flowers I have no medical knowledge unfortunately but hopefully someone will be along who knows more.

@GinandGingerBeer looking forward to seeing the shoes!

I have decided to wear Phase Eight dress tomorrow night. Will wear black heels that I was wearing in the photo and take with 2 bags - one black and one silver sparkly. Now trying to sort out what to wear for the morning Speech Day and garden party! It's going to be very hot and I don't want to fuss too much so will probably go for a floaty maxi dress and silver sandals.

@Ninkaninus Ebaying is great isn't? So satisfying when you see your Paypal balance Smile

Hope everyone is enjoying the evening sunshine and that laska is enjoying the start of her holiday.

Soups sounds good & floaty maxi is ideal in the heat you can waft about looking fabulous.

Ellapaella · 28/06/2019 18:56

@neveradullmoment99 I would be careful and perhaps avoid if you are feeling run down. Depending on the type of cancer she may have a very depleted immune system - if she's said she's worried about infection I'd avoid until you are back to usual health. Sorry this is happening to her, you and your family xx

Ellapaella · 28/06/2019 21:35

Having a chuckle at the so called bench! We have all fallen off the wagon lately! I've scared myself at how easily I have spent £200 over the last four days on clothes - I thought is didn't need anything but of course I see things I like and then... we'll obviously then I need them!

Anyone watching the women's football? I'm loving it! Fantastic to have it aired on a main channel on a Friday night, real progress for women's sport and so inspiring.

I'm indulging in violet gin tonight, very tasty. Hope you are all having a nice Friday evening and Never I hear the weather has been pretty good up where you are? Long may it continue!

@SoyYo hope all ok as not seen you in here for a few days x

Ellapaella · 28/06/2019 21:36

Tonight's tipple.. can highly recommend to all you Gin lovers

Its the Hushista Sisters: enjoying Summer Sales, Sangria and a little Full Moon Madness
Ellapaella · 28/06/2019 21:37

Sorry for all the typos btw. It's the autocorrect and nothing to do with the gin 😉

dontcallmelen · 28/06/2019 21:52

Ella yy the women’s football, this is a great match on now & last nights was fab as well, I love football & have been really enjoying this tournament.
Lol at the falling of bench, I have just put myself firmly back on it as have spent a fair bit before I went away & since I’ve came back😳 off again to Menorca in two weeks time so being good until then, just in case I might spot some nice Spanish sandals😂
Enjoy the Gin, since my run in with the rhubarb Gin I’m swearing off all flavoured Gins 🤢

noodlezoodle · 28/06/2019 21:57

Hello all! I have finally caved and bought a linen jumpsuit, inspired by this thread. Mine is from Everlane (this one: www.everlane.com/products/womens-linen-jumpsuit-blueindigo), and I'm planning to wear it loose without the belt when it's warm out (although inevitably as soon as it arrived we have got some chilly weather back).

Also my Hush Kensington has just arrived and I'm really happy with it - it's so comfy but looks polished. I'm also eyeing up the leopard print star jumper in the sale - I have it in navy and really like it but the grey is even nicer. Mind you it's 12 pounds to have something posted to here so I might have to add some more things to the basket to make it worthwhile Grin

@Ellapaella I've never seen that gin before, looks lovely! I remember how disappointed I was the first time I drank some Bombay Sapphire and realised it was only the bottle that was blue.
