Are saltwater sandals worth it?

I want some nice sandals that won’t fall to bits like the new look ones I buy every year! I have Birkenstock’s but find they actually hurt my feet after a while as the arch support is just too high and hard - and I have high arches! I actually feel more comfortable in shoes that don’t have them in as weird as that sounds.

Anyway I’ve been eyeing up salt waters and wondered if anyone would recommend? Sorry if this has been done to death.

I walk a lot at work and like going out and about in the summer so would really like some I can wear all day.

Thanks!

I have these Blowfish ones which I find unbelievably comfortable.

(weren't being billed as vegan when I bought them but I suspect exactly the same)

I don't get on with completely flat, thin sandals. But also never liked Birkenstocks. These I find really comfy. Never tried Saltwater, but they don't sound like they are for me.

This thread has inspired me to go and get some more Blowfish ones in fact (through fear they might stop doing them!)

Those are nice. Like all the straps on them.

I've just ordered a red pair, only £47 thanks to my child sized feet GrinTeen dd tells me I shouldn't worry about having red nails too, so I'm going with her advice!

Elllllle · 28/05/2019 12:16

I can't stand saltwaters (& they are everywhere, which makes it worse).

Very interested by Chartreuser's comment though that yellow goes with nothing and therefore everything as considering a pair of Office sandals in this colour for this reason!

Chartreuser · 28/05/2019 19:54

I am the 'least' yellow person ever, not my colour at all but genuinely the yellow does with everything, better than tan does.

Plus they make me smile every time I look at my feet Grin

Greenglassteacup · 28/05/2019 20:05

Mine come out year after year, I love them. I’ve got quite a few different colours now and always order from uk saltwater site. They are so comfy and they last and last

RedRiverShore · 28/05/2019 21:24

Tan retro are on their way from Flip Flop and Rose gold on their way from Office. Smile

I have a pair, and wear them a lot. I am in and out of the water a lot so like not having to worry about them. I like the flatness, I only wear flats so have no issues there.

RedRiverShore · 29/05/2019 16:50

I like that it doesn’t matter if it rains as the rain can ruin some sandals.

ffs74 · 29/05/2019 17:04

Mine came today, I love them! It's bloody cold & wet where I am though Hmm

WhenZogateSuperworm · 29/05/2019 17:06

I’ve had some tan ones and wear them pretty much every day in summer and they are still looking good 4 years in.

JinglingHellsBells · 29/05/2019 17:18

@fruityb

I'd never heard of them and wondered if they were connected to Seasalt clothing.

I looked them up and IMO they are hideous.

Sorry. Very very ordinary and rather old fashioned.

Frumpy and wide fitting looking at the model's feet.

Clarks have some very similar for around the same price and 20% off at the moment.

PizzaForPusheen · 29/05/2019 17:21

Prawn, I’ve suspect that their marketing department was behind the MN Saltwater obsession. Targeted posting.

On a style note, far too Play School for me. Let’s see what’s through the round window...

RuthW · 29/05/2019 17:34

Matalan have some exactly the same.

Housewife2010 · 29/05/2019 17:51

My Russian Venchanie (silver, gold and rose gold) ones are due to be delivered tomorrow. It's definitely not sandal weather here though - my hot water bottle is back in my bed!

Greenglassteacup · 29/05/2019 17:53

I doubt the matalan ones are well made and durable like salt waters

Housewife2010 · 29/05/2019 17:55

It's like when there are Jo Malone posts. Someone always claims that JM is rubbish, everyone who uses it is a fool and the Poundland version is far superior!

RedRiverShore · 29/05/2019 18:04

I liked those Russian Venchanie one Housewife2010 but had already ordered rose gold at about £48 so they would have been much more with the postage, had Saltwater site also had the Retro I probably would have ordered them as well.

Rose gold have arrived and look lovely

BikeRunSki · 29/05/2019 18:17

Mataram sandals - not leather and not amazing reviews- broke on first wearing, too narrow, dye rubbed off. That may all be tolerable for £12, hence 4* rating, but that’s not particularly sustainable.

Housewife2010 · 29/05/2019 18:36

RedRiverShore Your sandals sound great. How are the Retro ones? I almost wish I didn't own a pair of tan originals so I could get the tan Retros. Although the mustard Retros are tempting.

Chartreuser · 29/05/2019 19:12

I've had the Matalan ones, Def not as good quality and rubbed like nobodies business, my Salties have never rubbed

RedRiverShore · 29/05/2019 19:45

Retro ones coming tomorrow, I’m hoping they fit ok as they don’t look like you can alter them like the classic and originals, though my feet are fairly average width

Chartreuser · 29/05/2019 20:44

I've got a pair of retros going back tomorrow a faulty and whilst I initially panicked they were too tight they have loosened v quickly

Fruityb · 29/05/2019 21:21

I have wide feet and possibly bunions so I’m good with the wide ness.

I actually like the style of them - they’re not for everyone obviously but it’s more the comfort and durability I was looking for. Cheaper versions are never as good - I have learned that the hard way (aside from Primark mascara which is awesome).

Mine were apparently due to be delivered today but I’ve also noticed it’s yodel delivering them so the lord only knows!
