I just bought pink chinos, do I need an intervention?

There are mitigating circumstances... I'm going away for a couple of days tomorrow, it's much warmer than I thought it was going to be, and I have no lightweight trousers, only jeans and cords. I went into the small local Asda, no time to go further afield, and all they had in my size was these dusky pink chinos. So I bought them, and now I feel like I've crossed some sort of line.

They are very comfortable. They are lovely and cool. But they are pink chinos. I am not slim and I fear I look like a marshmallow.

Do they have to go back?

What will you wear them with? Black sandles and a black vest /tee shirt are usual go tos with coloured bottoms.
And i'm sure you look nothing like a marshmallow!

Bluntness100 · 19/04/2019 13:20

Can you post a pic? They can be nice but I'd wear them maybe with a black t shirt and flip flops or something, don't go head to toe pink.

Sexnotgender · 19/04/2019 13:22

I’ve got bright pink chinos. I wear them with a grey long sleeve T-shirt.

I’m not generally a pink lover but these are lovely.

GraceMarks · 19/04/2019 13:25

I definitely wouldn't wear all pink - was thinking either black t-shirt or a blue and white Breton top. Tan sandals or just navy canvas trainers.

Ahh I've been looking for some pink chinos! Thanks OP Grin

I'd wear them with a big loose white linen shirt and brown sandals, or with a black top and black sandals. Or with a chambray/denim shirt.

GraceMarks · 19/04/2019 13:31

I just took a picture to show Bluntness and put myself off them Sad

Think I will just have to roll the bottom of my jeans up!

I have some pink trousers, I love them big time Grin

MakeTeaNotWar · 19/04/2019 13:33

Pic or it didn't happen

GraceMarks · 19/04/2019 13:36

Oh dear, ok...

It's my thighs that always ruin clothes for me. I hate them!

I have pink girlfriend jeans. I usually wear a navy top with them. I do love in Florida, though.

millythepink · 19/04/2019 13:51

Wearing a black top with coloured bottoms or vice versa always looks a bit cheap IMO.

Better to wear a charcoal grey with them or even a teal blue would work better than just black. I'd roll the legs up a fraction so they hit on your ankle bone.

sawyersfishbiscuits · 19/04/2019 14:01

I'd go with a white loose shirt.
P.S. I think you look great. I have huge thighs and my grandmas knees. I find it really hard to find trousers.
And am currently wearing skinny jeans which make me look awfully knock kneed

Bluntness100 · 19/04/2019 14:04

They are fine, the top really doesn't work with them though.

I'd go for black, or as a pp said, charcoal. More fitted. The Stripey top doesn't work at all.

Charlottejbt · 19/04/2019 14:04

I thought you were Michael Portillo until you mentioned Asda. :)

Your thighs are fine. Enjoy the fun trousers.

MakeTeaNotWar · 19/04/2019 14:11

They're nice - I'd wear plain navy top

GraceMarks · 19/04/2019 14:26

Thanks, but they're making me feel enormous so they will be going back. I think after the weekend I'll take them to the big Asda, where they've got more stock, and see if I can swap them for the navy ones.

toucantoo · 19/04/2019 14:27

The striped Breton top looks perfect with them. As would a black or a white or a grey top.

CountFosco · 19/04/2019 15:09

It's the styling of the top, either do a french tuck to define your shape a bit more or get a big baggy shirt (French Connection has good ones). Your thighs are fine.

Rafabella8 · 19/04/2019 15:11

They're nice. Change the top, do a French tuck and pop on some strappy flat sandals. I was expecting hideous pink but they're not.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2019 15:13

You don't look enormous at all. My worry is that pink trousers can look a bit 'Naked from the waist down' from a distance.

I think they could work with a white broderie top and denim jacket, or with a grey top.

BikeRunSki · 19/04/2019 15:13

I really like them! Asda chinos are the only ones I have ever found that will go over my bulbous calf muscles. I might get some dusty pink ones too.

Amrapaali · 19/04/2019 15:20

Go all out OP with an orange top. Orange looks good with pink. In for a penny, in for a pound...Grin

gower4 · 19/04/2019 15:29

I got some jeans in the same colour a couple of years ago and never wore them - they went to the charity shop with tags on. I think the problem with them is that they are too bright for English Spring but too heavy for summer

DarlingNikita · 19/04/2019 15:29

I've caught myself looking at pink chinos on Gap's website a couple of times. In my defence I'm looking for clothes for a holiday in Mallorca next month, where I want to look breezy and cool (hence lightweight trousers and springy colours) but will be trudging up hills etc, so need to be practical.

I wouldn't wear them with black; that's a bit boring. Grey or navy are still quite neutral but more interesting.

Loopytiles · 19/04/2019 15:31

They look fine OP, much better than navy for warm weather!
