I just bought pink chinos, do I need an intervention?

There are mitigating circumstances... I'm going away for a couple of days tomorrow, it's much warmer than I thought it was going to be, and I have no lightweight trousers, only jeans and cords. I went into the small local Asda, no time to go further afield, and all they had in my size was these dusky pink chinos. So I bought them, and now I feel like I've crossed some sort of line.

They are very comfortable. They are lovely and cool. But they are pink chinos. I am not slim and I fear I look like a marshmallow.

Do they have to go back?

The top is absolutely fine OP, as are the trousers. This French tuck thing is just a fad, which I personally think looks silly.

You'll always get people arguing over what colour/shape/style goes best with what, but we all have different tastes and different shapes, so what works for one person may not be right for you. Don't wear anything that makes you uncomfortable as you're there to enjoy yourself.

Also agree with everything LambChopsMcGee said.

With chino’s always buy a size or even two sizes bigger and then put darts in the waist to get a more relaxed fit around especially if you want more room around your thighs.

You look fine op and I like the colour.

shitpark · 20/04/2019 12:33

These are lovely, you look good in them. I also have thighs, how much were they OP? They're just what I'm looking for.

MsLayla · 20/04/2019 13:01

I like them. Would definitely wear them and I like them with the top you tried them with for that pic. Just add flip flops are you're good to go!

Alsohuman · 20/04/2019 13:37

I really like them. I’m going to completely contradict all previous advice, I’d wear them with a long voluminous top. Much more flattering and a lot cooler. And definitely not black, whoever said that would look cheap is spot on. Navy would be lovely.

Sakura7 · 20/04/2019 14:32

I agree black isn't necessarily the best colour to match it with, but how exactly does it look cheap?

I mix black with colours quite a lot and am now wondering if I'm being silent judged! I never would have considered it 'cheap'.

Alsohuman · 20/04/2019 14:39

Black looks great with strong colours like red, fuchsia, cobalt, emerald. To my mind - and it’s only an opinion - it looks rubbish with pastels. And, while OP’s trousers aren’t pastel, they’re close enough for black not to work.

Sakura7 · 20/04/2019 15:01

I agree that it doesn't look great with pastels. I was more surprised at a PP's comment that any combo of black top with coloured jeans (or vice versa) was cheap. I often wear black with burgundy, purple, red or green and I see plenty of others do similar.

Alsohuman · 20/04/2019 15:13

So do I. But never with pink, pale blue, etc. My real favourite (which horrified my mum) is black and navy.

Snog · 20/04/2019 15:21

Maybe try a more fitted top and post another pic?

Aria999 · 20/04/2019 15:45

Another vote for changing the top. I like the chinos.
