I just bought pink chinos, do I need an intervention?

There are mitigating circumstances... I'm going away for a couple of days tomorrow, it's much warmer than I thought it was going to be, and I have no lightweight trousers, only jeans and cords. I went into the small local Asda, no time to go further afield, and all they had in my size was these dusky pink chinos. So I bought them, and now I feel like I've crossed some sort of line.

They are very comfortable. They are lovely and cool. But they are pink chinos. I am not slim and I fear I look like a marshmallow.

Do they have to go back?

They look fine.. and as long as they’re not paired with Clarks sandals and a radley cross body bag your fine.. Wink

My DH and I used to play guess the nationality of the coach tour when we lived in california.. 3/4 length cream or pink trousers Clarks sandals and radley bag had us shouting British before they spoke! Grin

dudsville · 19/04/2019 16:47

I like how you described it as having crossed a line OP. I once bought orange sandals. They were great but all a bit loud. I go in for coloured trousers from time to time, never wear them. I veer between thinking something will be "fun" and the smarter choices!

Namechangedcositstime · 19/04/2019 17:06

They look nice.

JackieLavertyintheFreezer · 19/04/2019 17:27

I bought some pink Levi chinos on holiday in the US four years ago, never worn them but might dig them out now, I think yours look fine!

almostsunny · 19/04/2019 17:38

I love my pink chinos and my peach ones and I usually wear them with a stripy top

GraceMarks · 19/04/2019 19:17

Do people really think they look ok? I just can't get past how big I think my legs look. I don't know whether to wear them or not now!

Your top is just sitting in wrong place. Either tuck up more or go wide. The stripes are ok but soft grey or a cream would be lovely

FabulouslyFab · 19/04/2019 19:24

They look great - honest! 👍

HermioneWeasley · 19/04/2019 19:29

I think they look great. Agree - have them hit ever so slightly higher on your ankle and a slight more fitted top.

NW2SW · 19/04/2019 19:29

I am now a reformed pink chino hater thanks to you. I think they look fab!

NiteFlights · 19/04/2019 19:48

*Wearing a black top with coloured bottoms or vice versa always looks a bit cheap IMO.

Better to wear a charcoal grey with them or even a teal blue would work better than just black. I'd roll the legs up a fraction so they hit on your ankle bone.*

This advice is spot on. I think they’d look good with white, navy, or chambray denim colour. Definitely not black. Rolled up just a smidge they will look much better. I’d also beware tops with a curved hem, and too-delicate sandals, if you’re conscious of your legs/thighs.

Your legs look nice though, so go for it!

NiteFlights · 19/04/2019 19:49

Apologies for bold fail Blush

Ellapaella · 19/04/2019 19:55

The trousers look fine op. I think you need a different top with them though. Agree something with a french tuck or a white shirt would be better. You need something on top that defines your waist.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 19/04/2019 20:23

They are lovely, I want some now😎

I'm not slim and I have jeans in all colors, pink, purple, red, green and on and on....

I love bright colors and they make me happy.

I've given up caring I'm larger than I'd like, my life is passing me by while I fail to diet🤣

Enjoy you pink trousers and your trip away

nickknowleshalfateacake · 19/04/2019 20:34

I never reply on these things, but it's the top that is drawing your eyes to your thighs, change it and trousers will be fine :)

Bluntness100 · 19/04/2019 20:39

Your thighs are fine op. Your top does nothing for your tummy, if I need to be brutally honest. The trousers are fine and a top in a dark self colour and the outfit will be perfect.

Tanaqui · 19/04/2019 21:25

I don't like pink with black either - I'd wear a white sleeveless top, and fairly solid plimsolls.

troppibambini · 19/04/2019 21:27

I'm sorry but it's a no from me, you look quite slim but I don't think they are at all flattering.

Time40 · 19/04/2019 21:40

Don't take them back, OP. They look nice. Your thighs look fine, honest!

I might get a pair.

neveradullmoment99 · 19/04/2019 22:22

I think they look fine. I was thinking of a more marshmallow pink but the ones you have got look good. You do not look enormous in them.

leccybill · 19/04/2019 22:29

Just found this thread and it's made me laugh - I've been in pink chinos today and yesterday! (I'm on holiday in the UK).
Went with long white floaty t-shirt yest and white broderie tshirt today. Im only late 30s too - don't care though, I was cool and comfy!

Snog · 20/04/2019 08:52

Trousers look good but not with the Breton top - needs a more fitted top or tuck the top in / do a part tuck.

GraceMarks · 20/04/2019 09:24

I'm going to wear them but I'm just interested in the suggestions that I need to wear a fitted top with them. I thought that it was ok to wear a looser top if you were wearing something more fitted on the bottom? I really don't have a waist to speak of. I can't do a French tuck because I need some coverage on my fat stomach and these trousers aren't exactly forgiving in that area. I feel really uncomfortable (not to mention hot) in an outfit that's fitted all over. Is a loose, longline tunic type top really not ok with these?

I like them OP. I get that this is the style and beauty board and we're all looking for things that suit us, but we're all too self critical. I think they are a nice shape. You don't look huge. If they're comfy and cool, you'll have a nice time. The colour is nice and summery.

I tend to put things on and fret, then go back to the same overly safe options. Stick with them OP and have a lovely trip.

lasttimeround · 20/04/2019 12:19

I think the suggestions are to either tuck so the shirt hits higher up or something a bit longer. The top your wearing hits in the wrong place in between those two options. Just see for yourself in the mirror. Hang a tshirt over the front and adjust the length - it changes the look of the trousers.
Your thighs and the trousers are both fine and look good. Just adjust a bit leg length and where top sits. If you want to go wider and long that works too.
