Catching up as I sip my second morning coffee and can see the North Sea from my sofa. Sunny and raining at the same time this morning and windy. We’ll be going out to blow cobwebs away later.
First @Ella loved your “ramblings” Thank You truly. It’s lovely to see ourselves through someone else’s kinder eyes
In my case my love of style I think comes from my beautiful grandmother. She really was like a second mother to me and I used to spend as much time with her as with DM. We would go weekly to fabric shops and choose a fabric, and all the trimmings (buttons, etc). She would then make some simple things herself but also weekly visits to the dressmakers for all our clothes. For example I would look through the big Burda pattern books. Choose something. Then go find the fabric, etc. Have it made, usually a couple of fittings as it would be work in progress. Finally get the perfectly fitting result. Which is possibly why I’m so aware now when something doesn’t fit quite right for my shape. Even with off the shelf clothes I cannot tolerate I’ll fitting clothes and I know instinctively when something suits me. All those years spent carefully evaluating the virtues of pure cotton vs a broderie trim, how a tailored jacket should fit me, velvet vs satin I guess have been ingrained in my subconscious.
And Ella you always look effortless and cool in whatever you wear. You have the knack of making a simple vest and jeans look totally chic and cool. 😎 Hope DS recovery is going well. Please pace yourself as 4 hourly duty is pretty heavy going day and night.
@cherries we’ll follow you on Pinterest, so sign up! Looking forward to learning more through your eyes. Hope DD will feel much better with your TLC this weekend.
@Huff show us your fab jacket outfit soon!
@justi you are so right! All that nonsense about women being mean to each other is mostly mysogenist bollocks. Please do post a pic of you in that kimono when you receive. I’ll do the same with the Gudrun one, I haven’t yet because it’s at home and when I received I was too busy and then with the swollen face wasn’t up to it, mine is quite long but I’m not parting with it! I love it.
Btw my chipmunk cheek has gone down, yeay! Not in pain at all. Thank goodness for amoxicillin and it does make you realise how very vital antibiotics are to human beings. Knowing bacteria is evolving I think it’s one of those urgent crises that should force governments to collaborate with science to ensure next generation antibiotics are in development. Alarmingly it’s not the case at the moment.
@soups wishing you a happy day celebrating DD’s birthday. She’s a lucky girl!
