Never had a serious argument ( or any argument really..)

ilovecherries · 24/04/2019 19:00

See, I can’t do that hanger thing - I always have more than one thing on a hanger or it would never fit in. Am I the only one Blush?

Nope @laska. You’re my wardrobe twin 🤣 gawd only knows how many clothes I have shudders I’m sure they reproduce in my wardrobe!

Interesting thoughts about DH’s and retirement. You never know they might totally surprise us and I am looking forward to a time when I can also stop work (not too soon or I’ll drive him insane) and go gallivanting round the world like we did in our twenties. All we had was a rucksack each and some vynil (and old motorcycle) we left in storage back in the U.K.

@justi your musings made me Smile...le sigh indeed!

Laska2Meryls · 24/04/2019 19:14

Now I have rearranged and chucked, I do (currently) have only one thing on a hanger ( but I do have eleventy million hangers though..... )

dontcallmelen · 24/04/2019 19:45

🤣🤣 at the sprightliness, my Dh is four years older than me he could retire now, but me having to give up work when I became ill put a spanner in the works financially, as I was on a very good salary & didn’t expect to have to stop when I did, so Dh is probably going to on for another eighteen months or so thankfully he loves his job & has a great time driving around very very posh parts of Surrey, looking around fabulous mansions & meeting footballers/Russian Oligarchs.
Soy well done on doing so well in the interview & being able to dodge the job offer⭐️ Love the Gudrun prints such happy colours.
Laska new outfit is fab, but...... I think when you are de cluttering you aren’t meant to add more on the same day😂
Whiskey that sounds a really good system for weeding out what isn’t worn.
Cherries nope you are not the only one, with multi clothed hangers I’m the same, I have also taken over the wardrobe in the spare room & a little bit if Dh’s wardrobe, I really really need to get to grips with it all.
Soups ikwym about the outings, small consolation when you have dgd’s you start all over again, I have been to more farms/soft play/playgroups etc in the last couple of years than I ever did when dcs were younger.

twosoups1972 · 24/04/2019 20:51

melen I can't wait to have grandchildren! Think it might be a few years off though Grin

whisky that sounds like a great system

cherries you should get those cascading hangers, they're great. Much thinner than plastic hangers and you can hang a hanger on a hanger if that makes sense.

Ellapaella · 24/04/2019 21:08

My DH is 9 years older than me and is still in the old NHS pension scheme so in theory could end up retiring a lot earlier than me. I doubt he will though as he loves his job and I think being a Doctor is so much a part of who he is he wouldn't know what to do with himself. I imagine he will try and cut down his hours though.
Have bought some lovely things - will post tomorrow. I managed an hour at the shops this am then spent most of the rest of the day at the hospital with DS who has to go back for an MRI tomorrow and then surgery next week when I'm back from Rome.
Such a crying shame for him - he was so looking forward to driving lessons but the injury he has means there will be around a 6 month recovery period after surgery. So a funny old day today really.

Ellapaella · 24/04/2019 21:10

I'm in no hurry for grandchildren 😂I've been looking after babies and small children since I was 22, no desire to repeat it all again for quite a while! I need at least a decade off sleepless nights Smile

twosoups1972 · 24/04/2019 21:26

But ella that’s the beauty of grandchildren people tell me - you can enjoy the fun bits without the boring bits! Hope the MRI goes well.

Huffthepuff · 24/04/2019 21:39

Happy birthday @Ella! Hope you've had a lovely day 🥂🍾

@SoyYo I love that kimono! I'd have ordered the red if I'd realised there was 20% off

I placed a big Hush order at the weekend which should arrive tomorrow but realised I've had it delivered to work and I'm not back in the office until Monday. So impatient! Trying a few summer dresses as I realise I have very few hot weather outfits that I feel comfortable in. Will post pics when I finally get hold of it all

dontcallmelen · 24/04/2019 21:46

Aww Ella glad you managed a little bit of shopping, such a shame about Ds though, yy a break before you have grandchildren I had my first at 19 (made Dm a Gran at 37😳) glad that dd waited a bit longer!
Now I’m one of those annoying soppy people who show, complete strangers photos of dgd😂

neveradullmoment99 · 24/04/2019 22:11

Happy Birthday @Ella. Gin

I feel a bit like you. I became a gran just about a year ago. I have had children since I was 19 and by the time my youngest was 18, started again!!! I rarely see my grandson and my daughter in law is expecting another baby in October and find it hard to be enthusiastic about anything to do with babies as I feel I am only now moving away from it all with my youngest being 8 soon.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/04/2019 22:15

@soyo great news that you did so well with your interviews and that you could have got the job if you wished. Great confidence boost.
@cherries, love the outfit.
@Laska, you suit those culottes and top. Keep!!
Off now until Monday for me. Busy with work things though. Not ordered anything just now. Have my dd's birthday looming!!

neveradullmoment99 · 24/04/2019 22:18

..and sadly, nowhere near retiring for me. I think my retiral age for a state pension will be 67! I just cant see me teaching up until then tbh so would probably try and find something less stressful to do but then again it means sacrificing my work pension, so who knows!!! So I have a number of years to go. My dh is not interested in retiral at all.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/04/2019 22:21

..and @Laska, throughout my life I have had various changes with my dh. He has been at home with me for periods of time [unemployed at one point, working from home etc] and its been fine. I think It may surprise you. I have been with him for 30 years!!

dontcallmelen · 24/04/2019 22:43

never I think I would feel the same as you, if I had younger ones after dd had dgd but she was nearly thirty when she had her, also I think because I have looked after dgd quite a bit, sometimes for quite long periods of time (due to dd’s health issues) so have developed a really strong bond with her & I have had the time due to not working.
It would be much harder if I was juggling younger children & working.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/04/2019 22:59

I do feel really guilty about it tbh. That I should feel more keen but I feel I have been catering for children basically since I was 19 and also doing so at my work!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 24/04/2019 23:00

That's like 30 years plus!!

justilou1 · 25/04/2019 02:14

@never & @melen, My eldest daughter (who admittedly is only 14) has told me I’d better learn to love granddogs. I’m thrilled. I love my kids, but I would have to be the least maternal person in the world. (My best friend laughed hysterically and kept apologizing when she discovered I was having twins.) I have been a SAHM almost from when I discovered I was pregnant With my eldest until I started studying earlier this year. (Mostly because I was schlepping around the world after DH.) I really find it difficult not to want to tell them all that I have resigned from Mum duties now. (Possibly more to do with DH’s attitude now that he has returned to his “home” city. I honestly feel more like an App than a person now - hence the sudden need to start study.) I have now started throwing as many “Mum” duties at DH as I can because if I don’t, I can see myself moving out.
