WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, WEEK THREE of the fifth of 2007

WideWebWitch · 09/07/2007 07:31

This is week three of the fifth boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Hello all, oops - thursday already...? Am currently sitting with a glass of wine which is all you need to know about this week. My plan to not treat myself is going relatively well but having a battle with ds over not eating is getting me down a bit. (It's a phase, I know, I know, but show me a mother who doesn't stress when thier child doesn't eat).

Glad to hear about successful bootcampers - glitterfairy - so sorry to hear about your dad he sounds wonderful. Winnie, sorry to hear it's still bad with dd, I feel a bit inappropriate commenting as I'm an occasional poster but still. Yoyo, hope the prep for the move is going ok. It's really stressful - I should know, I'm off to the other side of the world in less than 5 weeks and I haven't started packing yet.... more wine needed I think.

Enjoy your evening!

SimplySparkling · 12/07/2007 20:57

bamamama I am sitting here with a glass of wine, too. I feel I need and deserve it.

glitterfairy · 13/07/2007 08:15

Hope Harry Potter was good batters as am off to see it myself tonight.

Thanks Winnie. Not having a good week here though as fretting about the move next week and the new job combined alongside usual worries. I just need to get the week over with and then start again.

Sonehow the weather is really becoming unhelpful as well.I am so sick of the rain.

SimplySparkling · 13/07/2007 08:52

I rarely watch films but am looking forward to seeing the Harry Potter one.

Right. I am struggling with the bed by 10.30am thing even though I know I need to get to bed by then. I realised when dragging myself out of bed this morning that the only thing that will work is if I impose it as a 95% of the time achievable bedtime as if I was a child. Otherwise, I'm up until 11pm and later doing housework. I had such a nightmare last night and I'm sure that it was due to me not stopping and winding down before bed. Not rocket science, is it?

yoyo · 13/07/2007 09:21

SimplySparkling - I find it almost impossible to meet the bedtime rule too. I indulge myself ocasionally with a very early night and that seems to keep me going. I wouldn't see much of DH if I went to bed that early as he is often still working at that time.

Horribly busy day ahead. My stomach is churning just thinking about what I need to achieve. Time to exit MN for the day!

swedishmum · 13/07/2007 09:34

Right, I'm on uber boot camp. Just had my breakfast smoothie of orange juice, blueberries, goji berries, crushed pumpkin seeds, blackberries. Yesterday was very healthy too (apart from the latte).
DD3 has been telling everyone dh is in New Nork this week. MNer of the future at 3??

Batters, glad you enjoyed HP. I am trying to decide whether it is appropriate to take ds to (he's nearly 7) & wants to go. Is this the start of the hols for you? The holidays are always such a challenge bootcampwise.

Swedishmum, lol at 'New Norks'
Your smoothie sounds delicious.

yoyo, hope your day goes ok

simplysparkling, good luck with the bedtimes. It's not an easy rule.

Glitterfairy, hang on in there... think about all the positives that will come from the hell that is this week (I do know what you mean about the weather though. I too am sick of it!)

Bamamama,thanks

Thanks winnie and you too!

WWW I can see you in the corner there. Come out here

cerys · 13/07/2007 14:10

hello everyone
I have done some exercise this week, but not enough. I have also mostly been eating rubbish. Then DH came back yesterday having been to the Cadbury shop at McArthur Glen shopping park - CurlyWurly anyone? How about some slightly squashed Roses? Today it has poured with rain all day and I have been in with DS. There is only so much painting and play-dough he will do before he starts destroying the house and when that happened, I was straight to the cupboard to eat chocolate. So now I feel slightly sick as well. Why do I always sabotage my efforts?

Sorry winnie that you have been having such a tough time. Hi to everyone else too.

WideWebWitch · 13/07/2007 16:47

I've had one of those days where everything that could go wrong (nearly anyway) has done.

Tesco delivered my shop 2 hours late which meant I had to put it away instead of the cleaner doing it (I know, poor me but it made me late for taking dd to see her friend)
work called me, first time ever on my day off but it was irritating (they were right to, keeping me informed not asking me to do anything)
Every time I tried to leave the house in the car the bloody builders lorry fro next door was blocking me in
We were nearly at our overdraft limit so I had to drive 40 mins to move some money around (I know, must get other ac online)
Stupid cow in front of me on dual carriageway persisted in staying in outside lane despite driving at a snails pace
Have throat/chest infection AGAIN so off to dr at 5pm, hoping for anti biotics
Windscreen wiper broke on car on way back from school run
Left dd at her friends and she cried so I had to go and get her
Heard I won't get put forward for a job I was called about yesterday

Grrr.
Not too bad on food front though dd not staying at her friends meant I didn't get to walk, which is what I wanted to do with the time (it's drizzly, perfect for me)
bacon sandwich
small roll with teeny bit of cheese
some prawns
a smoothie
a couple of strawberries and raspberries.
no sunscreen but haven't been out
not enough water.

shite really, I need to give myself a good talking to and an enormous boot up my enormous arse.

Oh WWW and others

I have been especially crap on the sleep front, staying up too late reading...and as a result feel dreadful. I have the school barbecue later tonight which will of course be a haven of healthy eating and no booze, of course

WideWebWitch · 13/07/2007 18:24

I have anti biotics, was in the dr an hour with 2 children. The whole waiting room must have been sick of the sound of my voice as I read dd stories.

But I got home and dh said go to bed with the laptop, I will bring you food and put the children to bed. So I am sitting in bed with pink fizz waiting for food to be brought to me. God, he's lovely.

Sorry to everyone else who's having a rubbish time on this thread.

WideWebWitch · 13/07/2007 19:06

My Spa day was great - much better than I anticipated. Was so chilled out that I couldn't be bothered to go to my gym class today

Hope you feel better soon WWW

let's get the Friday night wine open, everyone

bamamama · 13/07/2007 20:12

Evening all! Well Friday night of another rubbish week. Had a huge row with DH this morning in the "you haven't allowed for any change at all since ds was born" vein. Even MN was brought into it (apparently no 'calm mothers' post only 'neurotic' ones. It was that sort of row ). Anyhoo, both calmed down this evening and as DH is out on a prearranged booze-up I'm sitting here with a packet of biccies and a bottle of wine watching repeats of Dr Who and wishing I'd somehow married David Tennant instead . Bootcamping in ernest starts again on Monday (honest guv). Sorry to hear about your crap day www - pink fizz in bed - your DH sounds wonderful !!

cerys · 13/07/2007 20:13

Ds has crayoned on the walls, headbutted me and knocked into me, spilling my tea on me. He is really ready for bed now!

I was reading the DDs reports (seems mad, DD2 getting a report - she's in Reception!) and feeling proud, until they started scrapping. I shouted so loud I am sure I could be heard all the way down the M4. Then we baked cookies, to make up for being screaming fishwife mummy, so now there is more temptation in my path!

Have a nice weekend all of you. Hope you are not having as much rain as we are.

www - I hate days like that! You're in the right place now though.

t/SHELL - Brilliant news about the chickens! Are they laying yet? You could have really yellow scrambled eggs for breakfast! Yippee!

I've haven't eaten enough this week. So busy with pre-schools last week, party, leavers presents etc, no time to eat properly. We're having a big family BBQ tomorrow though so will more than make up for it.

The cold has almost gone, throat is a little raw, but that maybe because I had to make a speech and do presentations today whilst 50 noisy pre-schoolers and their parents cavorted about the hall.

But I am well enough to go running again on Sunday.

tortoiseSHELL · 13/07/2007 21:06

Chickens not laying yet. I am very cross with them. They had just gone to bed, so I went out to shut their house up in the pouring rain, and they ESCAPED. Ds1 was standing in the kitchen wailing that I wasn't putting him to bed, I was chasing them round the garden in the rain. HALF AN HOUR it took. They really weren't going to go back in! I eventually hoovered them in with a giant tarpaulin that they're really scared of.

Wretched birds !

TheDuchessDeMimsyNorkington · 13/07/2007 21:41

t/shell - call to the chickens everytime you go out to feed them, or tap the bowl with a spoon or something. After awhile they'll just run up to you. Food overcomes everything. My chickens also turn up pretty quickly if I start digging the garden - easy worms!

Off to the poultry farm next weekend to get new birds. It's horribly quiet out the back without them

tortoiseSHELL · 13/07/2007 21:51

Where do you get yours from? What sort are you going to get?
