WideWebWitch · 09/07/2007 07:31

This is week three of the fifth boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Btw, marina, sorry to send you such a short pissy email last night, was v annoyed with my brother!!! I think it reflected in my emails, so sorry about that! Did you ever find out the reason they were trying to contact you know who?

yoyo · 10/07/2007 21:05

Winnie - sorry to hear that things are a struggle. At least DS had a good report even if it meant that you had to endure PizzaHut. The last time we went to one a little girl got her arm stuck in the metal railings they have. DS was so excited when the fire engine turned up with its siren going and there were quite a few excited ladies of a certain age too. The little girl was freed after a while with no damage other than a very stiff arm. She got carried out on the shoulders of one of the men and got to sit in the fire engine.

Marina - hope the singing went well.

Did a great session in the gym and did the MOT afterwards. Felt really good. Have since been rushing about like a fool and still have loads to do. DH would be away when the children have all their end of term things on!

Thank you all for your kind, kind words. I am wired at the moment so am not even going to attempt an early night. I did go for a stress relieving walk with umbrella as it looked like the heavens would open. Saw a heron but realised as I watched it walking along a very secluded path at 9.20 that birkenstocks are far from ideal footwear for suck occasions

I will catch up with you all tomorrow (thanks for listening). This thread is such a support in so many ways

winnie · 10/07/2007 23:12

suck? such

tortoiseSHELL · 11/07/2007 00:17

Meant to say, we got ds1's school report today and it was so lovely, he's doing well in everything, but the bit I was so happy about was at the end when it said 'his peers describe him as the kindest person in the class - always caring and fair.'

WideWebWitch · 11/07/2007 00:18

Winnie, sorry about dd x

Marina, do post a list of wankers I can have a go at! I can't sleep, vaguely worried about a meeting tomorrow. Sigh.

Crap day. Oh well.

winnie I am sorry things are so stressful for you at the moment.

Everyone seems to be doing so well on here and I am feeling a bit of a failure but I know after the next few weeks are over things will get better.

Thanks Batters and Winnie for ideas on under eye circles. Sorry things are so tough for you at the moment Winnie but well done to ds on school report.
I'm going to try cutting out foods one at a time - will start with wheat as I know I feel much better without it, but sadly have already had yummy toast this morning as I was a bit miffed at turning up to school with no-one to teach as sports day practice was going on. Ho hum. Such is the end of term. Off to do some power vacuuming with lunges - seen it on TV but always been too embarrassed to try it, might frighten the cat.

winnie · 11/07/2007 12:07

lol swedishmum at the image of a vaccuming lunging woman frightening the cat

well done batters on resisting the peanut butter

Glitterfairy, STOP being so hard on yourself. You have done brilliantly. Think about where you have come. Moving house is inevitably stressful, accept it, stop beating yourself up ... you will not undo all of the good work you've done in a couple of weeks. Tread water for a while if it helps. Good luck with the moving
boss coming

winnie · 11/07/2007 12:39

WWW, 'crap day. oh well' is hardly being a role model

TS, I know what you mean about school reports. It is the unexpected things rather than the academic stuff that means more to me. Ds is doing very well academically but it was the comment that he is such an excellent role model for the other children in the class that made me most proud

iota · 11/07/2007 13:28

Thanks for the good wishes, ladies. The crown fitting did not go too well and I need to go back, but don't want to IYKWIM. It just doesn't feel right and might need to be replaced, but I really don't want to go there.

Had a bad day yesterday as I had some other minor irritations to deal with as well, but then I read about Winnie's troubles and mine seem very insignificant in the overall scheme of things.

I am going on a Spa Day tomorrow, so I hope I enjoy it.

TheDuchessDeMimsyNorkington · 11/07/2007 14:08

Glitterfairy - "Everyone seems to be doing so well on here" And there I was thinking that you are one of the highest achievers. Give yourself a break OK?!

Iota - sorry about the crown. It will be worth perservering with in the long term. Sympathy in the meantime. Enjoy your Spa day. Mmmmmm.

Marina - glad singing was good. Sounds like a blast!

Swedishmum - ROFFLE at lunging vacuuming

Congratulations on the good school reports (realises that I will receive a first ever DCs report within the next week )

I'm still suffering with a cold so have absolutely nothing to report!

yoyo · 11/07/2007 16:11

Having a flat day today. Didn't go to gym as had lots of other stuff to do. Feeling increasingly anxious about house move. Worrying about starting work again. Think it is all exacerbated by DH not being around as it coincides with the busiest time at school with the children.

Am aiming for an early(ish) night and will definitely go to the gym tomorrow. Being an angel foodwise although quite fancy a cube of choc right now. Might just indulge myself.

WWW - what happened about your job in the end? Have I missed an update?

Winnie - you sound better today. Any news from DD?

motherinferior · 11/07/2007 19:23

I'm not going swimming, I'm finishing an article (could only get hold of interviewee at 5pm today - though she was fabulous). It's all about cancer. Exercise frightfully good at staving it off,you know, as is fruit and veg.

glitterfairy · 11/07/2007 19:52

thanks winnie, batters and duchess. I am having a break tonight and a glass of pink bubbly discount stuff.

My brilliant dad has brought me another 6 months of my personal trainer for having done so well and come so far after my awful divorce and no money from x etc etc. Am blubbing as I write this as he is on his thrid week of radiotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer and has offered to help with the kids whilst I work all summer. He has also paid the deposit on ym new house. I started to cry as he offered all this but really think he likes to be needed and help and is proof to me that not all men are awful pigs and that some are wonderful caring loving and proper role models.

winnie · 11/07/2007 19:53

yoyo, thanks for asking about dd. I have spoken to her (briefly) on the phone today. She promised ds (for the 3rd day running) that she would come and see him today but hasn't It's not looking any better I am afraid

Bootcampwise has been good. Very good in fact However, my period is due and my skin looks like sh*te again

yoyo · 11/07/2007 20:04

Winnie - really sorry to hear that. How is your Ds coping with all that has happened to you as a family? From what you have written about his report and being a role model he seems to be coping well. How is work going too?

Glitterfairy - your Dad sounds a star. I hope he makes a good recovery from his treatment. Enjoy your pink fizz.

Feeling much better at last. Hopefully will be able to go running again at the weekend.

Saw a lady I used to see walking the dog at school this morning - haven't seen her for at least a year. She's of a certain age so I have no problem with her saying "you've lost a lot of weight, you look absolutely gorgeous".

Oh happy me!

winnie · 12/07/2007 11:26

Duchess, how lovely to have a compliment
Batters, thanks Glad to hear it's still all going well with you.
yoyo, thank you too Ds seems to be ok. Although he misses dd terribly and has started asking questions about 'why' she is like she is right now. Work is... a means to an end at the moment).
GF, your Dad does indeed sound lovely. I am sorry about his illness. I hope you are managing to cope with that on top of everythng else.
Where is WWW ?

Bootcamp going really well. I am not eating very much at all at the moment

Enjoy Harry Potter Batters. When DH gets back I will take the girls to see it (he can take DS to see Shrek). I always take "you're looking well" to mean "you've lost weight" as I have been known to say it myself!

I feel rather slim today and that is something you will not hear me say very often. Had a great time in the gym, i.e. lots of cals burned up according to the machines, and have eaten healthily. Must down a couple of glasses of water though as it is getting quite hot.

Feeling much more cheerful today as I am not thinking about the coming weeks - head in sand approach. I will confront the reality when DH is here for me to bicker with - not fair on the children to have me ratty!

SimplySparkling · 12/07/2007 14:54

batters An AWOL poster here! Thanks for the prompt. I'm not managing to keep up with posting regularly due to trying to keep to aims of the thread and still (hangs head in shame) not managing to get to bed by 10.30pm. I do, however, have the thread in my head each morning after shower (bodycream, face cream with SPF 25, packed lunch prep) during the day (rest of the list) and night (walking the dog for half an hour usually 9pm or later and bedtime.) I am here in spirit.
