WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, WEEK THREE of the fifth of 2007

WideWebWitch · 09/07/2007 07:31

This is week three of the fifth boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

t/shell - There is a breeder in Kent, Mumbles Farm, where we buy ours. We'll buy whatever they have ready to go/at POL. Although I'd love some more Light Sussex hens.

electra · 13/07/2007 22:38

I'm following this too. I have found that drinking a lot of water actually does get rid of cellulite Also lots of berries doing wonders for my skin.

For anyone who's interested, apparently you should sleep on your back, not your side to avoid wrinkles (or even sitting up if you're fanatical )

WideWebWitch · 14/07/2007 08:03

Ah Sobernow, those plays are really emotional aren't they? They're all so little and they try so hard. They make me cry too, I'm an utter wimp for all that. Carols at Christmas in the church (St Mary Redcliffe church actually TS) when dd was about 15 days old and ds was just 6 was particularly lovley.

TS, hope your chickens lay soon, I'm most envious of all you chicken people.

Batters, well done on not caving on healthy eating

MI, what are you reading? Hope the bbq was good.

Iota, was your spa day at WH? I drove past it this week, the grounds are lovely.

Bamamama, sorry about the row and of COURSE some of us are calmness and reasonableness personified! Don't we all re David Tennant

Cerys, so, what kind of cookies? Dh used to make chewy white choc chip ones, they were fab. He hasn't done them for a while (just as well)

Duchness, get you "no time to eat" I dream of being like that. My cousin (who is of generous proportions) and I listened to another cousin say "oh, when I first had children I didn't have time to eat" and she and I replied simultaneously "oh, I managed"

Welcome electra!

Had a lovely night, watching sex and the city/Life on Mars (which I'd not seen before and am enjoying v much), lolling on the sofa, eating PE pizza and drinking fizz. And went to bed at about midnight but slept til 7 so I feel ok. Have started antibiotics this am so hope they kick in soon

I think we're going to the childrens food festival today so that'll be lots of food but never mind.

late but here!

No problem all week with getting to bed around 10.30 pm as I have been ill. First with a cold then a chest infection since last Sunday - nearly two weeks in total.

Missed a couple of days at work but have been in for the rest of the time as the rota of events (three in 3 weeks - ahhh!!) have been keeping everyone busy. Have been coming home and slumping on sofa each evening. Dh and ds1 have been doing most of the cooking and cleaning, though.

Mind you dh owes me big time. Last saturday, just before my chest infection was diagnosed, I spent the whole day cleaning the house - dh didn't help as agreed as he was 'suddenly' needed for a cricket match. Then I went to the school PTA ball on my own as dh didn't want to go (ok we had agreed this some weeks ago). I had a surprisingly good time and arrrived back home at midnight, found dh still up so then reminded him Saturday was our wedding anniversary . He squirmed big time. It's the first one he has forgottena and he has very, very nice to me all week.

WWW I am about 1 day ahead of you on the chest infection front - antibiotics from the doctor on Thursday. Still waiting for them to work properly! It's all taken me by surprise as I rarely get ill and certainly not for 2 weeks.

Still, the weather looks like it's getting better long range, and the lido opens to the public next week so I can take ds2 outdoor swimming and I can swim and relax in the sun with a book (and suncream of course). All conveniently happening as term ends. Looking forward to this a lot. One week in London then off to Devon. I will use the week at home to really unwind.

WWW sorry to hear about the job and your crap Friday. Hope the weekend is looking up.

Winnie, what can I say Glad there's some good stuff in happening in your life - ds's school report, your bootcamp sucesses, to counterbalance the rest. I don't know all the background to your dd's situation, but is it in some ways helping that she is out of your home? I guess it must make you worry even more as you can't be there to look after her, but it sounds like it's one of those times when all you can do is distance yourself a bit and hope like mad that she begins to find her own way out and comes round in her own time to letting you help her.

tortoiseSHELL · 14/07/2007 11:05

I'm so with you on the crying at school plays. Ds1's nativity at church and at school had me weeping. And I only just managed not to cry when he played the violin in assembly. I did cry at his school report!

motherinferior · 14/07/2007 15:12

Hello all. Deep commiserations for the number having truly shite time at mo.

Me, I survived the barbecue with the help of beer and chocolate after our return [blush - actually it was fun, but I'd stayed up too damn late the previous two nights; and today I have been swimming. Which I think discounts the not madly virtuous food intake I will not detail at this particular point, I think .

iota · 14/07/2007 19:33

exercise today consisted of chopping down bushes in my garden - fist bit of sun and I'm out there wielding my secateurs.

no sunscreen, loads of water and a glass of wine in my hand as I type

Marina · 14/07/2007 19:45

hello all
All I am going to say is that if it hadn't been for my still well-upholstered derriere I might have smashed my coccyx during a rather exciting bus ride on Thursday Emergency stop, Marina flies down bus, lands on bouncy behind first and then cracks head quite hard on floor of bus. Ds, dressed as Italian waiter for school play, is very shocked as am I and rest of passengers. Driver has clearly seen this sort of thing before
Am now black and blue with dd pimping my injuries round her class "mummy scraped her bottom on the bus" and have not been walking far or fast due to being pretty stiff and sore. But luckily no permanent harm.
Sorry to hear about nasty colds and sore throats, there is definitely an end-of-term bug preying on exhausted parents and children. Ds and dd are ambulant but snotty, like most of their friends. Hope all poorly boot-campers get better soon
We need some sunshiney luck on this thread I think, especially at a time of year when it does not take much to set us off. Ds was one of the extras in the school end of year play/presentation evening, and the warmth of the send-off for the Yr6s after the interval had all of us weeping buckets.
Happy weekend all - batters I'll mail you about HP, as ds has finally woken up to this phenomenon and is wanting to see the latest film.

winnie · 14/07/2007 19:46

Tigermoth and www, I hope you are both feeling better soon. Duchess, glad you are feeling better.

Batters well done at resisiting temptation. I resisted an icecream today which was about to be bought for me. I was actually hungry at the time so feel extra virtuous

Lol at your Moron comment to TS. TS I am glad that it's not salmonella.

Cerys, hope you've had a better day with the children.

Bamamama, hope you've had a better day with dh.

I've lost another 2lbs this week Am generally having a good time bootcampwise.

A 4 1/2 hour drive today has exhausted me and I shall be going to bed very soon. Bumped my beloved car into another car and was horribly shouted at by the passenger in the other car. Luckily no one was hurt and no damage was done but I felt really bad about it & the woman made me feel worse

winnie · 14/07/2007 19:51

Marina, you are so right we really do need some sunshiney luck on this thread right now.
Hop eyou are feeling better soon.

Iota enjoy the wine. If I wasn't so knackered I'd be off to buy a bottle for myself this evening. I could really do with one.

tortoiseSHELL · 14/07/2007 20:15

Oh no marina - hope you're ok! x

glitterfairy · 15/07/2007 09:08

Hello all. Have just caught up on thread catching some internet moments whilst pretending to eat my breakfast. I have managed exercise but no diet this week and have a horrible feeling next week will be the same but am going to try harder.

Am dreading this week but will get through it somehow.

Winnie Hp fab and my 8 year old got through it but then she has read all the books on her own so I guess she would. Curiously she cant take real theatre but the cinema is fine. I had to get her rescued from the National and Northern Lights but HP was no problem!

WideWebWitch · 15/07/2007 09:20

I went to bed at 9.30-10pm last night, at my mum's, and slept until 7.30am this morning. No alcohol either so I feel a lot better today.

Yesterday
bacon sandwich
lamb curry at childrens food festival (neither were great)
packet of Goodies organix crisps
homemade bolognaise at my mums and a piece of homemade bread
a great nights sleep in very clean crisp sheets in a very clean house, tucked in by my mum, it was lovely

2 pieces of toast and Marmite so far today and it's drizzly so hope to walk later when I'm at home.

Glitterfairy, well done on keeping up with the exercise Good luck for the coming week

You have reminded me that I took dd to see a ballet of a Christmas Carol and she went into hysterics because of the spirits. I am very tempted to take ds to see HP.

How are you feeling today marina? Hope you're ok.

DuchessofNorks - we've just finished extending our run (sorry, being a chicken bore again!), so going to get 2 more chooks tomorrow - probably goldlines. Can't wait, although a bit anxious about introducing them to the 2 girls already in there...

motherinferior · 15/07/2007 18:54

Oh Marina, do get that coccyx checked if it hurts and continues to hurt (I hurt mine at age about 11, it was bloomin' agony).

I swam yesterday but strangely enough do not appear to have lost any weight, apart from being back sort of where I started which is after all not a huge amount. This may be related to (a) rather lovely Belgian beer - DP lived in Belgium when I met him, so I can swig and Reminisce, you see, it's a valuable Tool In Our Relationship, oh deffo (b) ice cream.

WideWebWitch · 15/07/2007 19:23

OMG Marina, I posted and hadn't read the thread, I'm so sorry, I hope you feel better soon.

How are you feeling marina? hope you are on the mend.

And hope your missing cat has returned home, batters.

Both ds's and I are keen to see the new Harry Potter film, too
