here? Is it too plain? (I'm not the bride.) What would you wear with it?

quadrophenia · 06/07/2007 16:38

love the fact that its called 'plain'

Stargazing · 06/07/2007 16:38

it's a little plain for my taste but would be less so with fab fushia heels and bag?

quadrophenia · 06/07/2007 16:38

btw I love it, don't really go for OTT I'm at a wedding type attire.

doughnuts · 06/07/2007 16:42

MMM, it is a bit plain but you could have god accessories and it'd look nicely elegant and understated, which is a lot better in my opinion

doughnuts · 06/07/2007 16:42

by god accessories I don't mean crucifixes !

quadrophenia · 06/07/2007 16:43

If I were tall and willowy I would wear it with a floppy, simple hat.

quadrophenia · 06/07/2007 16:43

lol doughnuts

policywonk · 06/07/2007 16:47

doughnuts.

Am tall, but not particularly willowy.

Are we really thinking pink shoes? Don't know if I could pull that off. Although can see that pink might set it off quite well.

I personally would go pink shoes as I love shocking pink and pale green - think it's a winning combo. If they are on the strappy side it's not so in-yer-face, as it's not a solid block of colour, iykwim.

Other good colours might be teal or a vivid, jade green. Chocolate brown would work if you are feeling colour-shy but I do think that a bit of colour is what that dress needs to take it from borderline drab to fab.

Stargazing · 06/07/2007 16:58

also, the button front makes it a teeny bit librarian-ish (don't get me wrong, I like the dress) so I think you need a 'wow' colour to edge it away from that.

policywonk · 06/07/2007 16:59

Stargazing, what is teal?

OP posts:
Stargazing · 06/07/2007 17:04

it's this nice, no?

ahundredtimes · 06/07/2007 17:05

Ooh I just bought dark pinky/purple shoes to go with wedding outfit. Am very excited by them.

Stargazing · 06/07/2007 17:06

my kinda girl. Post a pic!

Beetroot · 06/07/2007 17:09

I think it is incredibly boring. Ilove plain but that is a dress to wear to work

Okaaay I will try but to be honest, I have mixed success with linking. Do you want to see the dress I got too? Was all in sale.

policywonk · 06/07/2007 17:12

ooh yes, that is nice.

Beetroot - I'm a home-based freelancer. I wear paint-spattered bogging jottoms to work.

OP posts:
policywonk · 06/07/2007 17:14

nooooo!

Understated sophistication!

100x is going to show me up now.

(Crosses fingers and hopes that 100x will be unable to link.)

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 06/07/2007 17:17

lol at total inadequacy. Actually they weren't on the website, probably as are in sale?

Shoes from Hobbs, wedge sandals, suede in pink/plum. Dress black/white polka dot (I know black but ok I think) and has jolly swishy skirt bit, black bolero and have a rather nice (I think, might be naff not chic) white mac.

Whaddya think?

Erm sorry Policywonk, am going to look at your dress now and stop going on about me, but am proud as wedding tomorrow and clothes bought TODAY, so phew.

ahundredtimes · 06/07/2007 17:21

Policywonk - are you great looking? I think you need to be a stunner to wear that dress with confidence.

Oh god, don't listen to me, I'm going in b&w, and am unnecessarily theatrical and attention-seeking.

policywonk · 06/07/2007 17:23

Hobbs

I love Hobbs but they won't let me in. I was barred for scrapping. Drink had been taken.

(Not really, just can't afford it.)

policywonk · 06/07/2007 17:25

Oh, arsebiscuits.

OP posts:
Stargazing · 06/07/2007 17:26

policy - are you convinced on the colour front yet? Pleeease say yes.

Stargazing · 06/07/2007 17:28

ooooh policy what about purple, maybe [http://www.boden.co.uk/col.asp?segname=%57%6F%6D%65%6E&styid=AR319&segid=6&gpname=%53%68%6F%65%73%2 0%26%20%42%6F%6F%74%73&desname=%53%74%72%61%70%70%79%20%53%6C%69%6E%67%62%61%63%6B%20%57%65%64%67%65 %73&gpid=18&gen=these]] not too expensive either!
