here? Is it too plain? (I'm not the bride.) What would you wear with it?

Well, this is the benefit of freelancing, isn't it? You can earn money while wearing awful clothes. Although I did also do that when I worked in an office.

I'll report back tomorrow.

a professional what???!!!

worked in fashion for many years. You'd never know it now. I too am a home-based freelancer. Journalist. Not of the Carrie Bradshaw variety though, no frilly knickers and pensive musings for me. Scruffy, unkempt and a tad bushy of brow.

Let us know how you get on. LOL at the brolly, why not just get 2 Superdrug bags (they're pink) and put them over your feet, fastened at the ankles with rubber bands?

Purple is good, but prefer 1940s-type shoes, IYKWIM.

Well, I was convinced, until 100x told me I had to be a stunner to wear it. Now I'm sulking.

Will go and try it on tomorrow. I will take DS1's pink polka dot umbrella with me and hold it over my feet, and we shall see.

Thank you for your help, and for the teal thing. Are you a professional?

Hobbs

I love Hobbs but they won't let me in. I was barred for scrapping. Drink had been taken.

(Not really, just can't afford it.)

Policywonk - are you great looking? I think you need to be a stunner to wear that dress with confidence.

Oh god, don't listen to me, I'm going in b&w, and am unnecessarily theatrical and attention-seeking.

lol at total inadequacy. Actually they weren't on the website, probably as are in sale?

Shoes from Hobbs, wedge sandals, suede in pink/plum. Dress black/white polka dot (I know black but ok I think) and has jolly swishy skirt bit, black bolero and have a rather nice (I think, might be naff not chic) white mac.

Whaddya think?

Erm sorry Policywonk, am going to look at your dress now and stop going on about me, but am proud as wedding tomorrow and clothes bought TODAY, so phew.

100x is going to show me up now.

(Crosses fingers and hopes that 100x will be unable to link.)

ooh yes, that is nice.

Beetroot - I'm a home-based freelancer. I wear paint-spattered bogging jottoms to work.

Okaaay I will try but to be honest, I have mixed success with linking. Do you want to see the dress I got too? Was all in sale.

Stargazing, what is teal?

also, the button front makes it a teeny bit librarian-ish (don't get me wrong, I like the dress) so I think you need a 'wow' colour to edge it away from that.

I personally would go pink shoes as I love shocking pink and pale green - think it's a winning combo. If they are on the strappy side it's not so in-yer-face, as it's not a solid block of colour, iykwim.

Other good colours might be teal or a vivid, jade green. Chocolate brown would work if you are feeling colour-shy but I do think that a bit of colour is what that dress needs to take it from borderline drab to fab.

doughnuts.

Am tall, but not particularly willowy.

Are we really thinking pink shoes? Don't know if I could pull that off. Although can see that pink might set it off quite well.

If I were tall and willowy I would wear it with a floppy, simple hat.
