If you have green/blue/grey eyes what eyeshadow do you wear?

I have a weird non colour eyes. Most people say they are green, but some say blue and grey. If I wear lilac colours my eyes look very green. But it also can make my eyes looks a bit tired and sore.

All my palettes are all similar colours, lilac, pink, silver, blues. I keep buying them. The other thing is they are all shimmery and now i'm over 40 I think they are aging me a bit.

I have decided to treat myself to a bit of a make over but don't know where to start. (I've been wearing the same make up for 20 years Blush )

Are there any palettes or brands you could suggest?

What’s the rest of your colouring like? Cool-toned skin? warm? Your hair colour?

GrouchyKiwi · 10/02/2019 22:03

I am not much of a makeup person, but when I wear it I usually go with a sage green or smokey eye. I love how my eyes look with the green.

MrsKoala · 10/02/2019 22:05

Oh yeah, ha, I forgot the rest of me. I have dark hair and cool toned skin which is prone to going red and flushing. So I manage to be pale and red at the same time. A bit freckly. Black eyelashes and eyebrows. Blue undertones.

I wear cream/gold/brown occasionally a little bit of dark green.
It does depend on your colouring though
I look like somebody who should have brown eyes

MrsKoala · 10/02/2019 22:08

Really bright coloured clothes suit me (turquoise and royal blue especially, cool red, burgundy, bright pink) and the best colour is brilliant white. Which is a shame because it's so bloody impractical.

ComicsansHorror asks good questions. Your overall colouring is v important.

I have blue/gray eyes & am brunette, quite pale skin.

I love wearing makeup. Feel washed out & not 'complete' without it!

For eyes, I often wear nude/taupe as a base, and a lilac / purple-y colour on inner eye or on the outside. So eye is v neutral but I wear liquid black eyeliner nearly always & love it. My foundation is light coverage, enhances complexion rather than covers up. I've always had good skin but in my 40s annoyingly I'm getting some spots, so use concealer etc.

Maybe trip to makeup counter to try out? I use Boots No 7 or Clinique - they've a lovely duo eyeshadow with base colour & darker colour as described above. Would avoid silver & sparky types of eyeshadow - don't think they suit anyone really!

Dontsayyouloveme · 10/02/2019 22:11

Same colour eyes here, brown, aubergine or very occasionally dark khaki eyeshadow. The first two colours really draw out the green in my eyes best.

PETRONELLAS · 10/02/2019 22:13

I’m the same. Think it’s better to avoid warm pink/purple and go towards cooler purple shades. YSL do some lovely quads in the nicest purples I’ve found.
Charlotte Tilbury amazing eyeshadow pencil thing is so so good in a nice aubergine colour or the sparkly charcoal.
BobbiBrown lip glosses have some cool toned Nude pinks.
I definitely look better with mascara. Hypnose Drama is lovely.
Follow Sali Hughes on Instagram. She’s good.

EarringsandLipstick · 10/02/2019 22:14

OP just see your update. If you wear bright strong colours in clothes, I'd keep makeup v simple. I'd have a pale-ish base, dusting of powder, bit of bronzer /blush. Focus on an eyeliner you love - I really do love a v black liquid eyeliner but I know that's offputting for some! Maybe an aubergine pencil liner or black / brown?

I'd go bold on lipstick too. Think your colouring sounds fab 💃

EarringsandLipstick · 10/02/2019 22:16

Oh yes @PETRONELLAS I agree re mascara, and also love Hypnose! Love all the products you mention.

MrsKoala · 10/02/2019 22:19

Thanks all. I'll go to some beauty counters and try them colours out. I need a whole over haul really. My foundation needs changing I think. I wear something called liquid skin I think it's by dior, but if i'm tired it sits in my lines and makes me look old.

I'll try to take a picture of my eye.

Feature wise, my eyes are fairly small and far apart and my lips are very full. So i tend to wear a nudish lip colour or more of a stain rather than a bold lipstick as it dominates everything and my eyes disappear. I seem to look better if i make more of my eyes and let my lips take a back seat (altho my lips are definitely the better feature of the 2).

My eyes are blue. Have bleached blonde/platinum/white hair. I use gold eyeshadow in the middle, darker bronze on outside of eyelid, highlighter on inner corner

Ivegotthree · 10/02/2019 22:23

I have blue eyes and blonde/mouse hair and I wear taupe eyeshadow. Boots no 7 does a nice one - no idea what's it's called but used it for years. Currently using Lancôme Erika which I bought on a ferry coming back from France in the summer.

PETRONELLAS · 10/02/2019 22:23

I like True Match (2N shade I think) or YSL Touché Eclat foundations. I’ve many many others but always return to these. Colourstay not bad either but shades are a bit ghostly.

SpanielEars070 · 10/02/2019 22:24

My go to is the Naked palette by Urban Decay. All of the colours are very wearable no matter what your colouring is, and my DDs are very adept at pinching it too Hmm.

ComicsansHorror · 10/02/2019 22:28

Your description suggests you have winter colouring.

I would try cool grey eyeshadow. Avoid anything too warm, and stay away from browns and especially orangey browns. You also sound like you have a high amount of contrast, which means you can probably go quite dark with it, ie. charcoal

I have similar eyes to you (greyish greenish bluish) and I find the colour is enhanced more by things like the tops I wear etc. I have a pink lipstick which makes my eyes look really blue - moreso than any enhancement I’ve gotten from eyeshadow. I find eyeshadow a bit crap for my eyes actually because mine are quite deep set already and eyeshadow can make them look sunken. So it’s about bone structure too

MrsKoala · 10/02/2019 22:28

I’ve taken some bad pictures and they look more like the Thames than any other colour I can think of!

Very unusual eye colour. Try gold base with dark green to contour, flick enhance. Get the beauty counter girls to have a play with colours.
Estee lauder to a nice gold color envy single one.

EarringsandLipstick · 10/02/2019 22:49

@MrsKoala your eyes are fab! Colour-wise & shape too.

It's interesting to see the very different suggestions we've all given 😀 I think you'd definitely be best going to a make up counter & trying out new foundation, colour ranges etc. Benefit / Clinique / Mac / Boots get my vote. Good luck.

MrsKoala · 10/02/2019 22:57

Thank you for all the suggestions. I'm most tempted by the idea of gold and burgundy shades to try as I've never tried those. I'm worried burgundy could make them look sore, i remember trying a berry shade when i was in my 20s and everyone asking if i had conjunctivitis!

I was thinking of trying a gold top coat mascara too maybe.

I have never worn blusher as my face gets rosacea and can look ruddy. But i'm also strangely tempted by that to try too now.

My go to day time eye shadow is a pale goldish one from no 7. (Wheatsheaf I think it's called). I have grey/blue eyes.

justasking111 · 10/02/2019 23:02

I discovered Nars liquid blusher, very sheer but gives a lovely glow. I wear orgasm with my dark hair and eyebrows. Apparently Meghan Markle wears it too. Copy cat lol.

MairzyDoats · 10/02/2019 23:10

MrsKoala you have the same colour eyes as me! Very weird, I've never seen anyone else with them before, apart from my mum and DS. I like bronze and gold shades on mine, which brings out the blue green tones.
