If you have green/blue/grey eyes what eyeshadow do you wear?

I have a weird non colour eyes. Most people say they are green, but some say blue and grey. If I wear lilac colours my eyes look very green. But it also can make my eyes looks a bit tired and sore.

All my palettes are all similar colours, lilac, pink, silver, blues. I keep buying them. The other thing is they are all shimmery and now i'm over 40 I think they are aging me a bit.

I have decided to treat myself to a bit of a make over but don't know where to start. (I've been wearing the same make up for 20 years Blush )

Are there any palettes or brands you could suggest?

I also have very similar coloured eyes. (But I am otherwise more of an Autumn colouring, so wear different colours to you in terms of clothes). I have the Charlotte Tilbury colour chameleon pencil in amethyst and it works well with the eye colour . I have just whacked some on very roughly here to show you, sorry that mascara has been on since early this morning and is a bit tatty now ! I am also tired and bleary eyed, so it is a more flattering pencil than it looks here .

Uncooperativefingers · 10/02/2019 23:43

You have very similar colouring to me! I am also dark haired, both pale and red at the same time (I ran, and my cheeks flush quite red, but have pale skin, muas are always surprised how pale a foundation I actually need!) and also have your eye colour (your description of it being like the Thames is nicer than my usual name of 'sludge'!).

I would second the browns / gold's, that's my go to. I recently had a session with a Mac MUA because I have no idea how to wear colour. (like you I mostly wear jewel colours clothes-wise so keep my make up neutral. However I have a big event coming up where I'm wearing black so have decided to investigate colored eyes!) They have so many colour options that I could really get into what I like.

The MUA basically said because our eyes have lots of tones it really depends what we want to bring out. I ended up going mad with an orangey brick red to push me out of my comfort zone, but I loved it. The reddish tones will bring out the greens in your eyes. Or purple is also good for making the brown pop. Likewise copper (also flattering for browns). Basically we're lucky because we can use colour to manipulate how we want our eyes to look. Blue is often recommended for grey eyes, but is too cool of a shade to go with my skin tone, so I avoid that. Likewise if I'm going for a purple, I make sure is a warmer shade rather than a cool blue one.

This I what we came up with

If you have green/blue/grey eyes what eyeshadow do you wear?
If you have green/blue/grey eyes what eyeshadow do you wear?
Freyanna · 10/02/2019 23:59

This eye colour is called Glasz eyes, which originates from Brittany. The eye colour is grey, green and blue with flecks of gold.

My eyes are this colour, I wear taupe shades.

Freyanna · 11/02/2019 00:03

These are the types of eye shadows I like to wear.

If you have green/blue/grey eyes what eyeshadow do you wear?
MrsKoala · 11/02/2019 10:50

Wow. Thank you for all the great responses. I love the idea of that eyeliner SirVix.

I don't usually wear eye make up in the day, just a light base, mascara and a nude lip gloss/stain. But was thinking i'd quite like a day time look which doesn't make me look too made up and then an evening look which is more dramatic.

Justasking, Wrt to the Nars blusher - I have been eyeing that one up for a while - if you have an easily flushing (big red) face does it bring that colour out or clash with it? I use a green toned primer from Clarins on my cheeks to try to neutralise the redness before base, so can you combine that with blusher or do they cancel each other out?

Also Uncooperative - what is MUA? Is it a brand of cosmetic?

Looking at everyone's lovely eyebrows makes me think mine could also do with a bit of attention too! Blush

CT do another colour chameleon pencil for green eyes, it has garnet in the name (bronzed garnet maybe?) and is coppery. Both are flattering, terrible pic above as it was nearly midnight and I was peering into my ipad !
One of my dds has the same colour, but less changeable than mine, my other dd has a darker version, hers change from dark green to hazel depending on the light.
I think mine are more green than anything, but one of my friends sees them as blue. They are bluer than they used to be, I had more gold in them when I was younger, which is weird. I am not breton, but I am a celt, so the breton thing above is interesting. I get my eye colour from my father, who had pink white skin, black hair and green eyes, so maybe similar to you op, but I have my Grannie’s light brown hair.

AlienFacsimile · 11/02/2019 11:14

I have this eye colour, mine look like dirty dishwater I call it!

I always thought it was hazel. I wear brown eyeshadow, sometimes purple

SirVixofVixHall · 11/02/2019 11:17

Hazel is a pale ambery brown.

DreamingofSunshine · 11/02/2019 11:25

This has been really helpful for me, it sounds like I have similar colouring with the darkest brown hair, pale cool skin and a few freckles and the same coloured eyes. Going to give some of these things a go.

MrsKoala · 11/02/2019 11:26

The eye colour thing is so weird because I don't know anyone in my family who has it. All my dads side are bright or deep blue eyed. My mums side are all hazel/brown or blue. Everyone blames the other side for my eye colour.

DD has really piercing bright blue eyes with a dark ring around them. DS2 has a reddy brown deep dark eye colour from DH's Maltese heritage. But poor DS1 has the same as me, altho his are a little greyer and he has a quarter of his right eye which is gold flecked.

Mine have definitely changed as I've got older. I had quite blue eyes like my dad till my late teens/early 20s.

I thought hazel was greeny brown.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/02/2019 12:47

Yes, you are right op, i have googled and it seems hazel is a mutable green/brown like my dd2, whereas I had read that hazel was a pale golden brown. I have blue/grey/green rather than green/brown. Dh has green/brown. So the difference seems to be that hazel eyes don’t have the blue/gray element.

yikesanotherbooboo · 11/02/2019 12:54

I have very similar eye colour and like brown/ bronze/ green. I keep trying greys but they don't enhance and purples and pinks make my eyes look blood shot. Nudes are alright but not too pale. My hair is mid brown and I have a more yellow based complexion than you . DD is more like you but her eyes are a bit browner and she goes for the red lip and mascara + eyeliner on a day to day basis and bronzes and golds at night

Insomnibrat · 11/02/2019 13:06

Green eyes. Whatever colour I like.

littlepeas · 11/02/2019 15:01

My eyes are grey/green and I find brown/gold/copper looks the best, but I have warmer colouring than you, I think - golden brown hair and fairly warm/neutral toned (but still pale) skin.

hownowpowpow · 11/02/2019 20:56

Hi Op. I have a very similar eye colour to you. The eye shadow I get the most compliments on is Mac Satin Taupe. Think it would work well for you. Also Mac patina and woodwinked are nice goldie colours.

Betty777 · 11/02/2019 21:16

I also have this eye colour (we are common as muck, from the PPs above) My mum, dad and brother all have the same green - and now I've gone and had a brown eyed child! feels quite alien......

anyway, I find mid brown really brings out the green tones. Not metallic, not very modern .Go to Mac and try out a few shades. Also a pale taupe can look great as an everyday shade

And pp is right, aubergine does bring out the green, but with rosacea it might not be flattering

Ladybirdbookworm · 11/02/2019 23:11

I have a hazel eye colour and I've just bought the Naked palette in Cherry. I love it ...dont be put off by the pinks and reds, the colours are more muted when they are on the eyes. I also agree with SirVix about the colour chameleon Charlotte Tilbury eye pencils ..I have the bronzed garnet and I've repurchased it twice.

Uncooperativefingers · 11/02/2019 23:19

Sorry OP, MUA = makeup artist

BrinkPink · 12/02/2019 15:08

I also have “Thames” eyes! They can look green, blue or grey, I like to think of them as grey but they are actually somewhere in between. I like lilac and purple eyeshadow and also bronze and gold look nice, or even a pale shimmery cream with darker eyeliner. I’m nearly 50 and I haven’t given up the shimmer - I think it’s ok if it’s subtle, and not a garish colour.

I also love a stila colour called diamond lil, which is hard to get hold of now, it’s a slightly shimmery taupe here. You might not be able to find it but you could try something similar.

Janeysmum · 12/02/2019 16:42

In similar and I wear the Urban decay naked palette 1 all the time!

AfterSchoolWorry · 12/02/2019 16:45

Gold, silvery-grey.

I have darkish blue eyes with a yellow ring. Once you look close but they look kind of 'sludge' overall really. Not many colors look right on them.

Horrordoeurvres · 12/02/2019 17:01

You have the same eye/hair colour as me!

I use light eye shadows - light/warm browns, super pale pink, mocha/coco colours. I have a few Jeffree Star, Too Faced and Lime Crime palettes I love

My pale skin - NARS liquid foundation
setting powder - laura mercier translucent powder
contour - cocoa contour palette by Too Faced

lips - I use Jeffree Star nudes and sometimes paler pinks/red if I haven't done much with my eyes. Good selection of matte liquid lipsticks - I always wear matte.
