If you have green/blue/grey eyes what eyeshadow do you wear?

I have a weird non colour eyes. Most people say they are green, but some say blue and grey. If I wear lilac colours my eyes look very green. But it also can make my eyes looks a bit tired and sore.

All my palettes are all similar colours, lilac, pink, silver, blues. I keep buying them. The other thing is they are all shimmery and now i'm over 40 I think they are aging me a bit.

I have decided to treat myself to a bit of a make over but don't know where to start. (I've been wearing the same make up for 20 years Blush )

Are there any palettes or brands you could suggest?

I have grey eyes OP and I've found warm coral colours look great on me.

Thanks all. I have so many colours on my list now I think it would be easier to list the ones I don't want to try!

I've booked a MAC tutorial appointment and will discuss it all with my MUA Wink . I'll visit a few other counters too. I tend to like Estee Lauder colours mainly. I've never tried Nars products but they look nice online. What I really would like is a cross counter make over with products from all over the place rather than all from one counter.

I would like to sort my base out too. It's always too much or too little. I feel too caked or not covered enough.

I just need a whole fresh approach really. I've got stuck in a rut and my face has aged but my make up hasn't.

I use a brush to put foundation on and then the egg shaped sponge to smooth it out I know what you mean about avoiding cakiness.

I just use my fingers to apply my foundation because I've always found sponges and brushes use too much and I feel plastered. Also isn't it a faff to have to clean brushes every day? I don't use powder at all as I think it's really cakey on me. In the summer I tend to only use a tinted moisturiser type one from estee lauder which is meant to match your skin tone, but then I catch sight of my red blotchy face and think I need more coverage.

Fingers only aren't a great idea for applying make-up - the natural oils on your hands (skin) will affect the application. I used to use a brush (from MAC, had it years - I didn't clean it every day though, about once a week or so], now I use the egg shaped sponge, find it great.

I start light, I build up coverage, I have pale skin and definitely need to avoid being caked. As I get older I have needed make-up with slightly more coverage - using Clinique 'Even Better' liquid foundation, previously used Clinique Superbalanced but it was a bit too dewy, not enough coverage as my skin was changing.

I think you need to think also about your base i.e. the primer you use and a MUA can advise, especially in relation to the redness. I think on 40s skin, this is key; I tend to use a variety and like Clarins Beauty Flash Balm a lot ...

Good luck with the make-up appointment! Enjoy!

Thanks. The problem I have is I don't have time for all this type of make up. I have about 3 mins in the bathroom where I wash my face, put on serum, clean my teeth while that soaks in, put on some clarins green primer with my fingers on my cheeks, then dot some dior liquid skin over the top and rub that in, a bit of mascara and that's it. By then people are screaming and i'm running down the stairs. I put my lipstick on at the door with no mirror!

That's a good day. Others I clean my teeth in the kitchen sink and don't even look in the mirror.

I need a seriously low maintenance daytime look that just makes me look less knackered and a more polished look for the 4 times a year i'm allowed out at night time. Grin

I have green eyes and my make up artist friend recommended browns, bronzes, golds and purples. I'm not brave enough for purples but the bronzes look particularly good.

DollyPartonsBeard · 13/02/2019 18:06

I'm very similar colouring although I'm slightly more clear/bright spring but my eyes are the same, I call them sludgy green as I don't think they're golden enough to be a true hazel. The colours which work best on me are deep burgundies and rusts and darker warm pinks and oranges. Revolution do palettes with loads of colours in if you want to be adventurous without being too spendy. I find if I use a black eyeliner (usually tightline as I'm quite hooded) it provides enough of a 'barrier' to avoid looking like I've got conjunctivitis.

I have these colour eyes, and a browny pink shaded blusher as an eye shadow makes my eyes look very blue.

Livpool · 16/02/2019 20:39

My eyes are hazel/green (more green but very dark) and I think most purples look good. I would love blue or brown eyes

Horses4 · 16/02/2019 20:44

Same colouring here - my go-to colours are Bareminerals Celestine (a warm silvery colour) or Queen Phyllis (very pale gold)
