If I wasn't already married I'd wear this for my winter wedding...

Apropos of nothing really, I just saw that dress and that's what I thought. :)
I remember really struggling to find something with integral sleeves that wasn't wafty, frilly or MOBish.
God, some lovely dresses on that website.

(It's Fold if anyone besides me is interested.)

I was just coming on to ask if it was The Fold. For reasons best known to themselves ( I have no call whatsoever for clothes like that) they keep sending me their catalogue and I always read it cover to cover and dream about the life I might have had. They always look well made and interesting and yes, never wafty or frilly.

Floisme · 08/02/2019 14:18

Mind you I would look like a bottle of milk in that one Grin

DontCallMeCharlotte · 08/02/2019 14:35

Fortunately for the sake of my bank balance, I am a couple of dress sizes too big for The Fold.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 08/02/2019 14:46

Although is it possible the blonde model is actually too tall? She honestly looks about eight foot tall.

Flo 'I would look like a bottle of milk in that one' - interesting image. :) I was thinking it does have a rather solid look to it, like armour, as do most of the other garments. I'm not sure if that one might be a bit barrel-shaped at the waist, I guess it would depend on the cut and weight of the fabric. It doesn't look like it would accommodate a generous embonpoint.

I love the fact that just about every garment on that site is quite serious looking (ie you would look like you should be taken seriously) without being dull or matronly.

I think it's giving me the lusty feelings others get from Cos.

I think it's a massive snooze!

thefirstmrsdewinter · 08/02/2019 14:55

Charlotte 'Although is it possible the blonde model is actually too tall?' Crumbs you're right, my word. Maybe they've stretched her?? Or is it something to do with the waist insert on that dress?

Estrella lol thanks for your input! Grin You're offically not invited to my fictional next wedding.

I wear a lots from the fold for work. It’s all workwear only to me.

Floisme · 08/02/2019 15:18

Invite me mrsdewin - I could be your bridesmaid and wear it in pink

Or if that's stealing your thunder I could go for this one in the dark green.

I just love the way all the sleeves cover your elbows.

I'm kind of envious of having a job where you'd need a dress like that but I wouldn't make it through the day without spilling my lunch down the front (and I don't suppose they're machine washable).

EstrellaDamn · 08/02/2019 15:33

Damn you, dewinter!! I was planning to wear something in a lurid green, possibly with angry frog pockets. But you've ruined it for yourself now Grin

Whatthefoxgoingon · 08/02/2019 15:54

I need business wear flo and I stick to dry cleaning the dresses. They are cut well and appropriate without being too boring.

frugalkitty · 08/02/2019 15:57

Floisme I can't wear that shade of green but that dress you linked to is absolutely gorgeous!!!

OrinocoGlow · 08/02/2019 16:42

Both the dress Floisme linked are gorgeous as is Mrsdewinter's dress of dreams!
Whatthefox please may I ask what the sizing is like in dresses from the Fold compared to Hobbs or LK Bennett or similar?

I love The Fold styling but the one dress I have bought from there looked really frumpy on. I sadly had to send it back. It was very nicely made though.

BoogleMcGroogle · 08/02/2019 16:48

Oh my gosh, I would so wear that to my winter wedding to any one of my thirty seven fantasy grooms ( e.g the young Salman Rushdie, Bobby Kennedy, the conductor Vladimir Jurowski, a boy I dated in 1995 who is now a neonatologist). Thanks for elaborating my daydreams.

The Fold is gorgeous. I do have two dresses from there, bought in the sale, which come out when I have to represent my profession in a public capacity. Most of my time I spend perilously close to children, which are incompatible with such loveliness. About twice a year they emerge, so they still look lovely. I like the combination of elegant but interesting. It all feels very Michelle O.

Connieston · 08/02/2019 16:50

Ohhh yes but I'd look like the cake. Grin

Calzone · 08/02/2019 16:51

At my fictional next wedding, dh has said I can have a cake of cheese.

Lweji · 08/02/2019 16:53

I'd need a long skirt. It doesn't feel like a wedding in a shorter skirt.

Lweji · 08/02/2019 16:53

But, you could buy it and insist on a vow renewal. Just to wear it.

QuaterMiss · 08/02/2019 17:00

I admit to half an old skool folderr of fantasy wedding dresses (mostly actual still-alive Alexander McQueen) - but your favoured designer is way too neat for me. (I like looking a wee bit messy.)

XingMing · 08/02/2019 17:01

Once upon a time, they would have been dream workwear, perfect for pitches and presentations. And the dress would make an excellent fictional wedding or vow renewal outfit.

OlennasWimple · 08/02/2019 17:01

Thank you for introducing me to Fold - I need to overhaul my work wardrobe and was wondering where to start in the absence of Jaeger Smile.
