And in case you get bored of the royals or they're having a quiet week, here's the Celebrity S&G thread!

Remember, let's critique the clothes without getting too personal about the wearers.

The cynic in me does wonder if Kate has been wheeled out in a showstopper dress to deflect the TM / Meghan letter brouhaha.
No sign of it apart from the DM sidebar of shame

AFifthOfKoolAid · 10/02/2019 20:50

She's been wheeled out in a showstopping gown because that's what she does for these big gala events. She was hardly going to turn up in something from Debenhams.

No I meant a brand new, spectacular gown as opposed to a rewear from a few years ago.
I haven’t seen any new evening dresses for a while; apart from a glimpse of what she wore to Charles’ 70th

VanillaSugarr · 10/02/2019 20:58

That last photo of Kate... not that IS a wedding gown!

Paradyning · 10/02/2019 20:58

I wonder if it's Marchesa? Those flowers don't look very McQueen

AFifthOfKoolAid · 10/02/2019 20:59

She's worn a brand new spectacular expensive gowns at all the Baftas so far, as far as I can tell (shout out to 2017, I love that one). Even when heavily pregnant. It's a glamorous event. If she wore something old, people would have said "see, she's thrifty, unlike that new one". She's wearing something new, so it's "see, she had to take the heat of that scandalous new chick".

Suggesting she's been "wheeled out" is doing a disservice to both women.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 10/02/2019 21:01

Twitter is also suggesting it's McQueen, posting a very similar one from their website but for the floral shoulder detail. So possibly just customised?

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2019 21:03

All the reports say McQueen @Paradyning. No word about the cost but I'm guessing bespoke McQueen gowns are upwards of £10k? And if it's the same as the one she wore for Charles' birthday then that's two of them. The shoes apparently cost £525 and are Choos. Thrifty Kate is thrifty no more!

I love Kate's dress tonight, it's a proper princess dress! She looks fab.

frugalkitty · 10/02/2019 21:13

Maybe William can't do the buttons on his jacket up....middle age spread??? Grin

Paradyning · 10/02/2019 21:14

Oh it does seem like it is a McQueen.
I stand corrected. Not a very McQueen McQueen.

OlennasWimple · 10/02/2019 21:18

If I had an event (and purse) that justified wearing a dress like that, I definitely would

And it suits her so incredibly well

bellinibobble · 10/02/2019 21:20

Love the dress, the amazing up do and the coral colour lipstick. 😍

Notmyrealname855 · 10/02/2019 21:21

Wow!!! Wow wow wow! Gasped when I saw the pics in motion! So pretty and elegant, loving this look. This is a gorgeous dress Star McQueen sounds pricey, hope we see this again!

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 10/02/2019 21:24

I don’t mind the RF spending £££ on clothes (up to a point) when it’s done right like this.

I’d rather they spent £10k on an amazing, British designed frock which suited them to a tee, than £2k every other week on another evil-green-monster dress or poorly fitting day wear a la DoS.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/02/2019 21:24

Blimey you’re hard work @afifthofkoolaid!

Last years bafta dress, undoubtably expensive, was definitely a rewear.
First time around, Kate wasn’t pregnant.

I doubt her dress choice has anything at all to do with it. Shes probably had that dress organised for ages. Cant really see her rushing out to buy a new dress today just to deflect attention from MM

She looks gorgeous in that dress. She always looks so natural at these events

AFifthOfKoolAid · 10/02/2019 21:27

Hard work? I try my best to be Wink

Notmyrealname855 · 10/02/2019 21:28

Flashy evening do, especially diplomatic, then go ahead and wear some designer. Day wear, especially meeting general public, wear normal “smart work” clothes!

BeverlyGoldberg · 10/02/2019 21:29

Vogue are reporting Catherine has chosen Diana's favourite pearl earrings ...

The green Packham first time around
Kate definitely wears good jewellery to the Baftas

AFifthOfKoolAid · 10/02/2019 21:32

But seriously, I can't see her wearing last year's green gown anywhere else? What Kate Wore said it was new.

Either way, it looked fabulous. The Baftas have been a hat trick of wins for me, and three very different looks.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/02/2019 21:32

Kate has had too much botox. Sad that she feels the need to do that.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 10/02/2019 21:33

That one looks blue to me? Trick of the light?
