Link to book group thread, which has the list of books.

And in case you get bored of the royals or they're having a quiet week, here's the Celebrity S&G thread!

Remember, let's critique the clothes without getting too personal about the wearers.

Did we miss this? Kate in a rust-coloured jumper discussing her plans for the Chelsea Flower Show. We've discussed it before, but I think she may well be an autumn as those warm earthy tones really suit her.

He is @CurlyWurlyTwirly. Now she was a character and a half!

Is he the grandson of the Duchess of Alba?

Which also makes him a direct descendant of Mary Queen of Scots through James II, with the surname Fitz-James Stuart. Fascinating family history.

ElspethFlashman · 10/02/2019 14:41

It appears Princess Lalla Salma is now divorced from the King of Morocco which is a pity as she was magnificent

Noooooooo! She was one of my favourites! Red hair to her waist and insanely expensive kaftans!

ElspethFlashman · 10/02/2019 14:45

Kates really on that Dubarry train at the moment. There must be a stockist near her country pile. There are absolutely loads around here too but it's too expensive for me. I'm more Jack Murphy level! Grin (which BTW is a brand well worth checking out as it looks exactly the same, esp the tweedy jackets)

UrsulaPandress · 10/02/2019 14:55

I like Jack Murphy.

beanaseireann · 10/02/2019 15:16

I like Jack Murphy too. Especially the hats.

UrsulaPandress · 10/02/2019 15:33

Hats you say ....

Paradyning · 10/02/2019 15:41

@SenecaFalls that really was a stunning wedding dress. Groom's not so bad either

beanaseireann · 10/02/2019 15:49

Lovely hats UrsulaPandress Smile
See the Jack Murphy Boston Jack hat.
Nice to see two Irish brands - Dubarry and Jack Murphy - so popular

AFifthOfKoolAid · 10/02/2019 16:02

Ah la Duquesa de Alba was a character. And had the longest name I've ever seen, according to Wikipedia it's longer than the video Curly posted suggests:

María del Rosario Cayetana Paloma Alfonsa Victoria Eugenia Fernanda Teresa Francisca de Paula Lourdes Antonia Josefa Fausta Rita Castor Dorotea Santa Esperanza Fitz-James Stuart, Silva, Falcó y Gurtubay.

!

LoversLane · 10/02/2019 16:04

And she certa Not had the character to match the name!!!Grin

LoversLane · 10/02/2019 16:05

I meant ‘Certainly’!

Mmmhmmokdear · 10/02/2019 16:25

The Duke of Heuscar reminds me of Flynn Ryder! Is it ok to fancy one so young??? Re his granny - why would you use that many names? Surely you'd want to save some for future children?

I'd never heard of Lalla Salma, just googled her, she's stunning and I love her outfits.

What do we think of the cats whiskers style face bling?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/02/2019 16:47

The Moroccan king and his brother were definitely punching above their weight in the wife department.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2019 16:50

God they really were! Which reminds me, Rania's very attractive SiL Haya is the second wife of some old and decrepit king. I was really surprised when she married him as the Jordanian royals have always been so modern.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2019 16:52

Wait no, she's the FOURTH wife of an Emirati sheikh.

OP posts:
SenecaFalls · 10/02/2019 16:54

Paradyning Wholeheartedly agree about the dress. I also like her headdress; she could have gone for a gigantic bejeweled Alba tiara but opted for simplicity instead.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/02/2019 17:08

Princess Haya is married to Sheik Mohammed, billionaire ruler of Dubai. ( also father of random disappeared princess...)

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2019 17:13

Ah ok. Makes more sense then.

"So King Abdullah, what made you consider the elderly billionaire ruler of Dubai as a husband for your little sister?"

HM still heading to church. I bet she’s in no hurry to head back to Windsor...

I've just randomly remembered that someone on these threads is having a baby at the same time as Meghan but I can't remember who! I want to say @Paradyning or @AhoyDelBoy?

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/02/2019 17:19

Sheik Mohammed seems quite sophisticated. They’re always at the races

( I’m also rather fascinated by their stumpy little legs Confused )

It's me Queen. But I think MM May be giving later due dates as a decoy. And who would blame them!
