And in case you get bored of the royals or they're having a quiet week, here's the Celebrity S&G thread!

Remember, let's critique the clothes without getting too personal about the wearers.

Honestly I'm not gonna even look. I'm sick of both of them at this stage.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2019 07:54

Thread about it here: Meghan's letter to her dad in The Sunday Fail.

And of course it's only extracts so the press can spin it out that bit longer. Shameful, hateful man.

I'm looking forward to seeing the outfits tonight. Kate always brings it to the Baftas, and William looks handsome in a tux. I looked at Chelsea flower show tickets as Kate's design was showcased on their twitter feed last night but it's so expensive! Darn.

Boxlikeahare · 10/02/2019 08:33

I am not looking either Elspeth. A complete circus and I am not sure anyone will come out of it well (or has done thus far).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/02/2019 08:53

The Bristol sexworkers charity , one25 has received it’s first overseas donations thanks to the Meghan effect.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/02/2019 08:56

I am really looking forward to the Morocco visit.
Anyone know the dates? Hopefully Meghan will crack open the colour again and wear some bright outfits like she did in Liverpool.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2019 09:00

In 2 weeks time, 23-25 Feb.

hopeishere · 10/02/2019 09:00

I think it's in two weekend time so around the 23R's Feb.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/02/2019 09:00

Scandinavian Royals watching the world ski championships
I presume the swedes and Norwegians are related going back a couple of generations?

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2019 09:00

Maybe we'll see Meghan in a caftan a la Mustique Margaret in the 70s!

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/02/2019 09:01

Thanks @queen and @hopeishere

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2019 09:02

I think they're first cousins @CurlyWurlyTwirly. Or wait, is that Queen Margarethe and one of the other Scandi kings? Either way, they're all related some way down the line!

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/02/2019 09:03

Meghan would look utterly superb in a kaftan; perfect for 8 months pregnant.
I’m sure she will wear some Berber type dress. They were the inspiration for YSL in the 70s.
He has an amazing house in marrakech

Yves St Laurent Museum Marrakech

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2019 09:07

Yes, it's Carl Gustaf and Margarethe who are first cousins as her mother was a Swedish princess. I also didn't realise their grandmother was British. Well, as British as any of the Saxe-Coburg-Gothas were!

Can't wait for tonight as I think Kate's best looks are evening wear. She really gets the P"Princess going to a ball" thing right.

As for Meghan and her dad. I've said it before and will say again. She should address this directly. She's a 38 year old, competent, professional, i dependent woman with a platform. A speech or statement, and draw a line under it from there. Back door PR will always backfire. Always.

I had a boss who loved a bit of backdoor/negative PR briefing (I work in pr). It was awful and he was always trying to make us do it. Ultimately, at the most senior levels of our organisation it turned into a complete shitshow. And his reputation with journalists was completely destroyed.

FATEdestiny · 10/02/2019 09:24

Loving that the (12th) Duke of Devonshire has the first name Peregrine. What a great name!

AFifthOfKoolAid · 10/02/2019 09:44

What exactly do you expect her to say in this "address"? This is an intensely personal thing and her dad is being a year, she can handle it however she sees fit. No one even knows for sure that she orchestrated the People articles. It might have been well meaning friends doing it of their own accord.

If I were her I would do exactly the same. Being so publicly betrayed by your own father must be horrible.

Her handwriting is exquisite though.

AnnaMagnani · 10/02/2019 09:57

Thank-you CurlyWurly for drawing my attention to a really positive story about Meghan - the effect of her visit on One25 - instead of the endless carping in the Fail.

My personal view of her father is that she should be posting about him on the Stately Homes thread in Relationships and no approach to him is going to have any effect whatsoever.

Notmyrealname855 · 10/02/2019 10:06

Absolute mess. The royals’ used to say “never complain, never explain”, and I think it’s a very effective solution. There’s never a final word when you have such a messy fight

beanaseireann · 10/02/2019 10:11

I don't like her handwriting, for me it's too stylised, practised, like it doesn't come from the heart iykwim. I know she studied calligraphy when younger.
The whole thing with her father and family is awful. If she is a nice, genuine person it must be heartbreaking for her.
It's so tough on Harry. He fell in love with Meghan and despite, supposedly, being warned off by his beloved brother, married her, and the nasty family mess continues in the media.
What should be a really happy time in H&Ms lives is so blighted by nastiness in the media. Horrible.

ImBattlingOn · 10/02/2019 10:16

I’m pretty sure she wrote that letter knowing it would eventually be released.

Daisypie · 10/02/2019 10:36

The Morocco trip should be interesting. She must be feeling good to undertake it st this point in the pregnancy. Hope we see some reasonably priced well fitting maternity wear.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 10/02/2019 10:45

Lol. Insincere handwriting added to her list of crimes.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/02/2019 10:49

I doubt it'll be reasonably priced @Daisypie. Overseas trips tend to be when total women spend the most on clothes. I really liked Kate's India wardrobe but it was ££££!
