I have no idea who he is but she’s a massive arse!

MarshaBradyo · 02/02/2019 18:01

He’s

ThreeFourFive · 02/02/2019 18:03

Hope you will go back and post that screenshot on his page! Let everyone know just what a charmer he is.

Totallyscrumptiouspoppet · 02/02/2019 18:04

I only checked him out because he was mentioned here. His sister and the entire towie lot are really dragging their heels. I just don't understand what type of people they appeal to... Hmm

MaryPoppinjay · 02/02/2019 18:04

@Totallyscrumptiouspoppet what a vile and totally unprofessional response - not surprised he took it down.

SuperstarDJ · 02/02/2019 18:11

Totally He’s Giovanna Fletcher’s cousin I think - I think they’re quite close and I only know that as I’ve seen her post about his baby on her IG page. Whilst it’s obv not her fault, his response to you doesn’t exactly fit with her family friendly nicey-nicey image.

He seems like a dick. Took me a moment to figure out what #sp means.

Totallyscrumptiouspoppet · 02/02/2019 18:11

Oh but he's posted it on his disappearing stories..... But look at where the #ad is placed.....

Totallyscrumptiouspoppet · 02/02/2019 18:14

Ah ok, I was referring to Giovannas post thanking m&s for her new running clothes.... No hint of #ad

ThomasHardyPerennial · 02/02/2019 18:26

Mario and Giovanna are brother and sister.

Buggerbuggerbuggerargh · 02/02/2019 18:26

He's Giovanna Fletcher's brother.

Who is CLTS?!

SuperstarDJ · 02/02/2019 18:27

Oh, knew they were related but didn’t realise they were brother & sister!

I reported one last week. Because she tries to purport her whole blog as "a hobby" I think she thought she could get away with not posting things as an affiliate link even after the new rules came out. Took me two minutes on the website and I have to say the ASA were brilliant at following up with me. She now posts "aff" on every. Single. Bloody. Post. Which I hope makes all her followers realise that actually, it's a full blown business she's running. I still haven't seen her post "gifted" though, which is funny, as I'm sure most of her kids' clothes are.

scotx · 02/02/2019 19:46

She now posts "aff" on every. Single. Bloody. Post.

But even "aff" doesn't cut it in terms of clear disclosure. The full "Affiliate Link" is what they need to write and as per the ASA flow chart an affiliate link is considered an AD under UK advertising rules so it needs AD as well.

KimchiLaLa · 02/02/2019 20:18

Hmm really? I've seen plenty just write "aff". They emailed me directly, from an actual contact. Maybe I should follow up with her.

ThreeFourFive · 02/02/2019 20:38

Has it really hit so hard - succession of arty staircase shots, outside shots (thank goodness for snow) and now bedside table "reveals". Are they all such shysters that none of them can present an honest face to their customers?

scotx · 02/02/2019 20:45

"aff" on it's own just doesn't mean anything. Admittedly if you're a switched on and savvy consumer you know they mean affiliate but what about the not so savvy and switched on consumers? They're they ones the guidelines are trying to protect by pushing for clear, unambiguous disclosure and it shouldn't have to be implied or hinted at that you're being advertised to.

midlifecrisis2018 · 02/02/2019 20:47

Midlifechic is someone who I usually respect but on her latest blog post she talks about these new rules and makes out how transparent she is etc and to be fair she does list the companies she's been working with. However, to state an item of clothing is GIFTED it's done like this "gAW17"
That simple "g" is barely noticed in all the text, why can't she write "gifted, AW 2017" - SO much clearer. So why she's proclaiming to be oh so more transparent than others I feel this in itself let's her down.

scotx · 02/02/2019 20:49

Just to add, the CMA have said that hashtags such as #sp and #spon and #collab aren't clear enough so I think #aff belongs in the same category.

OP posts:
scotx · 02/02/2019 20:52

I'm not a follower of midlifechic but people always seem to hold her in high regard for the quality of her writing and her transparency. But there's no way "gAW17" meets any of the rules. That's utterly meaningless.

That is absolutely crass behaviour! @notthequeen

MaryPoppinjay · 02/02/2019 21:00

They are bleating about magazines but at least in a magazine you get ‘Promotional Feature’ at the top of any advertorial. Pretty sure they wouldn’t be able to get away with sticking a P at the top just because they explained they would do this previously on a flyer a few months ago (which is basically what stories are as they only last 24 hours).
