Just had a quick look. What a fucking horrible site. People would be appalled if this was a site that teenagers were using to bully each other but it’s OK for grown adults, presumably mainly women, to write hideous comments about others Hmm

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 17/03/2019 22:27

I don't know. There certainly is a load of crap on there but also an interesting debate on online child security and mental health. That really is a conversation we should all be having. Children have to be protected - from the Internet and from exploitation.

PCohle · 17/03/2019 22:36

It's a truly horrible site.

Some of the comments about Tanya Burr are beyond vile.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 17/03/2019 22:53

Ahhh, I don't know who she is, or indeed many of the people mentioned. I was reading the influencer's/instamum's thread.

PCohle · 17/03/2019 23:47

Sorry, I wasn't trying to have a go at you!

It's a big site I think, and I'm sure there are some interesting discussions on it. The lack of moderation/ general attitude on there seems to lead to some pretty nasty posts though.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 18/03/2019 05:40

No problem at all, and certainly no offence taken!

Tootrousers · 24/03/2019 19:09

I see that Laura fantacci is selling loads of things today. Lots of v expensive handbags which she says have never been used. That makes me wonder whether they were given to her. I can’t really see that she paid hundreds for a bag and never used it

visitorthedog · 24/03/2019 23:21

I saw that too. Her sales so make me laugh though as you have to arrange your own courier to pick up what you buy, which is pretty funny for an Accessorise bag (the one that she says has ‘no label’.

I do like her but find it harder to relate now, this week it’s all been about the party to celebrate the book with the amazing pictures in of her and other mothers blah blah and then the Wardrobe Icons cover with her and her family on it which they had to beg her to do as she doesn’t ‘like to be in the limelight’ or something like that. It’s all a bit too much.

Tootrousers · 25/03/2019 06:34

Agreed, I still like her but I really miss WIT when she was more relatable. Now it’s all dresses for £500

visitorthedog · 25/03/2019 07:43

Yes I agree, I think liking when it was WIT is why I still follow. Not being an influencer, I don’t go to parties every night where I go crazy over the place settings, that have my name on it and an expensive gift Grin

I get that it’s nice to see that stuff occasionally, but I don’t need or can afford multiple £600 dresses in my wardrobe so it’s irrelevant to me. It’s a shame as I bought lots of her WIT recommendations.

The Gant stuff she’s selling, didn’t they’ve do an ad feature with them recently? It seemed an odd fit for them at the time.

hopeishere · 25/03/2019 08:40

She was relatable as WIT. Now it's two posh girls playing dress up! And living out their fantasies of being models. Also a Chanel watch!! I hope that wasn't a present.

EmpressJewel · 25/03/2019 08:46

Who exactly is Wardrobe Icons aimed at?

I don't know anyone who has £150 to spend on a hair bow. Well, I mean I don't know anyone who would.....

I so wanted to like Wardrobe Icons, but its just so far removed from my lifestyle (and pretty much anyone I know).

hopeishere · 25/03/2019 08:49

Its aimed at Deborah Brett ie loaded trust fund mamas (I love her feed though as it's so far removed from my life - weekend ski trip? Why not! Amazing house in Ibiza? Absolutely! plus I messaged her a few times and she replied and was really nice)

LF wants that lifestyle but isn't quite rich enough! They also affiliate all the cheap links. I've never actually read wardrobe icons.

Tootrousers · 25/03/2019 09:35

I guess there must be a market for wardrobe icons though as they seem to be doing ok from it.
I’m certainly turned off by it but I’m certainly not their target audience. I miss wit, she was my favourite fashion blogger back in the day

hopeishere · 25/03/2019 09:41

How do you define doing ok?

I'm guessing they can draw a wage but doubt they're rolling in it. Staff I'm guessing are interns so unpaid.

Tootrousers · 25/03/2019 09:45

I guess I’ve just watched it grow, new offices, more and more expensive outfits and holidays and assumed they’re doing well, but again, maybe a lot is gifted

hopeishere · 25/03/2019 09:47

I think Petro's husband is loaded. As is LF's family / in-laws.

Tootrousers · 25/03/2019 09:48

Also re interns, it’s actually not really possible to offer an unpaid internship if the person is actually doing work rather than just shadowing. I hope they’re being paid!

hopeishere · 25/03/2019 09:53

They probably get paid something and they get lunch too from what I've seen.

visitorthedog · 25/03/2019 10:15

Yes WIT was my favourite too. I hope they do well with Wardrobe Icons as it does look well made and obviously has a lot of work put into it, it’s just not aimed at me anymore. I have messaged LF before, once when she was asking for kitten advice, and once asking politely about where something was from / sizing but she didn’t respond to either, which is fine. I’ve occasionally asked similar questions with Erica Davies and DMBL40 and they do reply very kindly, although I’m sure they get hundreds of DMs.

That makes it sound like I DM people a lot, I don’t BlushSmile

hopeishere · 25/03/2019 10:17

Yeah I've messaged her too. Don't think they were even read. And yes DMBL40 and ED have replied when I've messaged them.

I am also not a prolific messager!

Tootrousers · 25/03/2019 10:27

Same here! No reply from LF but I did get one from petro once. I’m Also not a prolific messager!

Tootrousers · 25/03/2019 11:22

Omg VISITOR, you’re right! She can’t be bothered to post anything, the buyer has to arrange courier pick up!! Wtf?!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 25/03/2019 11:51

Wardrobe Icons is a vanity project for Laura and Petro so they can feel like they've got jobs and pretend to be models like a PP said. It makes money through product placement and affiliate links like any other blog.

I too preferred Laura in her WIT days and I was a bit Hmm recently when she went to a boden (I think) event with her husband and posted laughing that they had thought he had the same surname as her. I don't have the same surname as my husband either but I thought that was rude. Why should some clothes brand know she didn't take his name?

visitorthedog · 25/03/2019 12:23

I think Petro has another job, I’m guessing WI is something that would need to make a profit, and I hope it does, I just miss that daily ‘ooh what is someone who’s style I like wearing today?’. I actually get more interested in the casual poses in the office than the ‘here I am a posh lunch wearing Emilia Wickstead, with all my other lovely friends to celebrate the launch of something from another lovely friend’.
