Christmas and the sales are sadly over but winter is still here for a few months yet.

Come and show us your cosy knits and woolly hats whilst we dream of summer - everyone welcome, the more the merrier.

Thanks for kind words about dd, I hope I don’t jinx anything but I’m feeling very grateful and celebratory that I’m not anxious about it anymore. Feels good. (Fingers crossed big time that’s it now)

maradesbois · 02/02/2019 19:06

Hello all,

Sorry for recent absence, must make time for mnv, I don’t like being away from you all for too long! Really looking forward to meeting you at the mu Vegas, you’ll find that everyone one here is just as their personality comes across in their posts.

QueenC We’re on our 4th after school nanny since moving to London. I find the hiring process hard as most want more hours (understandably) so I always end up paying more for them to do some housework and ironing. Two of the past ones we are still close to, the other enough said, that is a story for the mu!

Blingy I did smile at your ‘I had to keep away from her as knew I had nothing good to say’! I would be so annoyed at that too though, anyone can make a mistake but you have to own it. At the moment dh, ds and the nanny are all testing my patience for different reasons Grin. Dh is so untidy, nanny is dippy and ds doesn’t look after his belongings; in the past fortnight he’s lost his hat, water bottle and glove (singular ‘I still have one mummy’).

Blair holiday to Portugal before going back to work sounds like a lovely way to ease back in. So nice that you and dh can split the parental leave too.

Have been stressing the last few days about ski stuff. Wish I could carry off something like that red suit Blingy! I ordered some stuff online that went back and as time isn’t on my side decided to buy in store. Went for this jacket and salopettes. I fill these much more than the model, on the non-model figure they are actually v fitted and flattering. I also threw in this base layer top. I already have plenty of heattech polo tops and leggings but they gave me this in store just to try and I thought it looked good with the trousers.

maradesbois · 02/02/2019 19:10

Marsha so happy to hear good news about dd, really hope that’s it now and no more hospital and all the worry that entails x

MarshaBradyo · 02/02/2019 19:47

Thanks Mara you’ve just reminded me you were going to visit when this all started so long ago! The invitation still stands, although now you’re working I know it might not be possible. You’re always welcome! Flowers

libertyonhertravels · 03/02/2019 09:07

Just a quick hello... QueenC you will look fantastic in that pink.

My mum and brother are here. So good to see them. We've had a lovely week traveling around and they are both blown away with NZ so that's made me very happy as it means they'll be back.

Congrats to all the England supporters she says through gritted teeth what a match to start the 6 nations!

QueenCerise · 03/02/2019 09:16

Thanks lib. Maybe I’ll wear it in July to the mu!

Fantasy shopping time....
for fedup and everyone

QueenCerise · 03/02/2019 09:29

bonkers blouse

Everyonelovessparkles · 03/02/2019 09:40

Sorry to hear about the sweater blingy. I would be very annoyed too...hot ski suit! I’ve also noticed in the past 12months that prices seem to be creeping up.

I did t get another furry coat fedup. As usual I am behind the curve, so most have sold out as SS stock is coming in (even taking its artic weather conditions!) I reckon they will be around this winter too so will decide later in the year if I’ll try again. Nice whistles dress. Did it take ages to be delivered?

mara did you have a your meeting about a pay rise?

Glad you have had a nice time it’s your family lib, hopefully this will make you feel a bit better too.

Glad DD is doing well marsha.

Hope you’re feeling better too stokey. DS was off school this week with a temperature and a cold so it does seem to be going round.

Have a lovely trip to Portugal blair.

Hope your DF is doing ok shop and your DM is ok too Flowers.

Nice slides queenc!

Off out for afternoon tea today for a friends birthday. I love afternoon tea so am looking forward to it! Might wear my black whistles dress with the gold spots.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

QueenCerise · 03/02/2019 09:48

for me

kittyhello · 03/02/2019 09:54

My mum knitted me a cardigan like that when I was a child, she spent ages on it and I refused to wear it.

I like that navy one though.

maradesbois · 03/02/2019 09:57

Everyone that’s a lovely Sunday plan, enjoy!

Yes, I did get the pay rise! Not quite what I asked for but close and they backdated it too. Am of course glad of the extra money but also very happy to have been listened to and heard.

lib lovely to have your family over, are you having some time off work to show them around?

QueenCerise · 03/02/2019 10:35

kitty my Nan used to knit them too. I loved them!

maradesbois · 03/02/2019 15:59

Love it QueenC!

Sorry lib just realised that you did get the week off. Hope you can get to properly switch off from work when you’re not there.

maradesbois · 03/02/2019 16:00

Marsha yes is difficult to do a weekday now that i’m ft but I do have a midweek event to invite you and dd to - will pm!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 03/02/2019 16:49

A brief hello from me. Viva it is great you will be coming to a MU as it should be a tonic for you.
Unfortunately I won't be able to make this one (I must be the only person not this time Sad) but I've taken on an extra work project and it is eating into my weekends sadly. Will definitely be there in July though.
Lovely to have a family visit Lib
Well done on the pay rise Mara
Glad DD is improving well Marsha
Sorry to hear things difficult with DF Shop
Everyone I really liked the pink fur on you but agree it was far too big,
Fedup I have Veja and they do get marginally more comfy with time Grin also I think one of the styles is particularly uncomfortable, not all of them.
and hello to everyone else!

MarshaBradyo · 03/02/2019 18:57

Yes please Mara!

Ah that’s a shame Bernice we’ll miss you, July sounds good

MarshaBradyo · 03/02/2019 18:57

Hope the afternoon tea was lovely Everyone I’m sure it was

FedupNagging · 03/02/2019 20:24

Bernice I won't be at MU either - such a shame as it's going to be a good one but July is in the diary. Good luck with your work project.

Marsha have a good trip. Are you going on your own with dd?

Lib so pleased your Mum and brother have made to NZ, lovely for you all to be together.

Hope you enjoyed your afternoon tea Everyone - I'm out for one next weekend

Mara well done on the payrise. Nice ski wear.

Love the navy cardi Queen ( wonders if dm wants to dig out her knitting needles )

Hi all
I really must do better to keep up.
Hope your df is ok shop I know how tough it is. My df is also unwell and in hospital atm although he seems to be improving now thankfully.

Marsha so pleased to hear that about miniMarsha I'm sure there is no better feeling than the relief you must feel.

blingy condolences for your jumper, dh knows how you feel as dd shrank his favourite jumper this weekend. Partly his own fault as she wanted her jeans washed urgently and he refused to let her put the machine on just for them and made her get some more dark stuff from the laundry bin Grin

On the subject of help in the house I don't know what to do about my cleaner. I have become quite friendly with her over the years but her standard of cleaning is getting worse with every visit. I find myself completely stressed after she has been finding all the bits she has missed. I know I should stop being a wuss and tell her but its so hard because we are friendly!

Lib must be so lovely to have family over.
mara well done on the pay rise!
queenc lovely colour blouse.
bernice and fed up shame you can't make the mu but looking forward to meeting viva

have a great time in portugal blair!

no shopping to report and still feeling uninspired. I have realised I shop too much for the life I would like to have instead of the reality of unglamorous job and school run

MarshaBradyo · 04/02/2019 09:16

Oh Justa that is tricky so hard to know what to do, but I err on the side of say something although I feel your pain!

Fedup yes just us too, mostly socialising out there the others would get a bit bored and I can lounge around with people as much as I like ; starting to mentally prepare for the flight

Dreamqueen · 04/02/2019 17:54

Can someone remind me of the date of the july MU please? Originally I thought I couldn't make it.

Love that cardigan QueenC. I've got the knitting needles out & am happily making baby things. Smile

Hope Shop and Justa DF are ok?

Hope you have a lovely time with your Mum & brother Lib.

QueenCerise · 04/02/2019 22:01

THE nanny was late this morning . To be fair, she called me to say her bus hadn’t turned up and was jumping in a taxi instead. I’m doing reduced hours initially but after half term I absolutely must have her on time.

dream 6th July. Would be great to see you again.

justa that’s my problem. I love blouses but they don’t really suit my lifestyle. Especially now I’m not in an office. Think it may be easier to wear them when it’s not quite so cold. Tricky about the cleaner. I’ve also become friends with mine and it blurs the boundaries. But if it’s stressing you out so much you need to get rid. Can you get dh to do it???

maradesbois · 05/02/2019 08:44

Oh no QueenC, not a good start. She should have allowed lots of extra time to arrive for her first day. I believe everyone is allowed one mistake though, hopefully it will work out.

Dream I think it is 6 July but am not 100%

Am wearing new dark green Brora cashmere jumper, it is the loveliest softest thing ever!

MarshaBradyo · 05/02/2019 09:23

I do feel grateful my nanny is never late but has been early just in case. Completely reliable. Although I’m the same and turn up stupidly early to things like interviews (and go to a care) loathe the thought of being late to stuff like that.

I’m sure it was a one off, one hopes!

Dark green Brora cashmere sounds lovely.

In other news I said no thanks to a job as even though the salary was good and job quite exciting the space was tiny, so small maybe only three people in the office. Felt too claustrophobic. I’m not in a rush to go back so I’ll wait for a bit.

And I hurt my foot falling off a steep step, will see dr today.

Interesting stuff! Grin

shopafrolic · 05/02/2019 16:52

Sorry for lack of contact. DF has had another fall today. Landed on, and broke a coffee table. Suspected broken ribs - they had to cut his clothes off him to run all the tests - v scary. I'll be back online when I can but need to focus elsewhere for now. Love to all. xx
